#doublespin famous five is a perfect Boxing Day read but this one wasn‘t quite as good as the others. The boys were really mean to George (and Cecil, who didn‘t really seem to do anything wrong!), and a bit too much focus on Anne playing housewife.

Then this book of four children and their dog stranded on an island in a race to find the buried pirate treasure, might spark your interest. By no means criminal masterminds themselves they work together and survive.

Reading the ‘Famous Five for Grown Ups‘ series has made me nostalgic for the originals, so I got the full series of the 1970‘s-80‘s from eBay for (d6. I had a couple of these editions handed down to me when I was younger and they were always the ones I liked the best. My plan is to read the whole series over the Christmas holidays...I‘m looking forward to it already.

50 BOOKS I LOVE
Book 1: The Famous Five series
I come from a small town with no reading culture,we had no book stores.Fortunately,we had a small library at school & period set up for reading.Everyone had to issue a book & read it since you had to give book review. So, grudgingly, as homework, I picked up one of the famous five books because it had the most fancy cover and fell in love with it.

I grew up reading The Secret Seven, Famous Five and The Five Find-Outers series. I liked watching the Famous Five on tv too.

Sunday morning, blueberry pancakes, banana milk and maple sirup.
#audiobook is one of the million Famous Five audioplays my daughter found on Spotify.

1. I don't really have a favourite beach read but I'll read anything light on the beach. I'll probably end up reading one of Enid Blyton's Famous Five.
2. I have an obsession with dolphins and whales. I love them!
3. Any beach with blue water and white sand and not too many people.

Thanks for tagging me @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 😊😊
1. I think The Boxcar Children & Sweet Valley High
2. Oh gosh! There were so many!! I really enjoyed Evelyn Hugo, though.
3. I think I'm going to have to go the au bridge on this one. Talk about making it difficult to enjoy a book!
4. I hate to say something is overrated when I couldn't even get through a chapter to see what the fuss was about, but 50 Shades.
5. @Alicia @The_Literary_Jedi

Wow, how did I get so behind on these this week... yes, I‘m just doing my #TuesdayTidbits on Saturday night, LOL!
1. Choose Your Own Adventure books
2. I can‘t pick just one, sorry....
3. Dolores Umbridge 🤢, honestly hated her more than the main villain or his sycophants.
4. 50 Shades of Grey
@NovelGirl82

1. The Chronicles of Narnia
2. Um, hmmm...I‘m having a hard time picking one so I‘m thinking about it.
Update: I‘ve thought about it and it‘s hard to choose so I‘m going with Waking Gods.
3. Dolores Umbridge
4. I don‘t know. I usually only read series if I‘m reasonably certain they‘re worth the commitment. If I had to pick I‘d say the Twilight series was not up to the hype it got when it was first released.

Famous #Five was my first thought for today, too. I recently discovered this audio play on CD - you know, I'm sooo old, I still had them on cassettes - so I bought it for my kids.
My son was sceptical at first but, since the CD is still in his player, seems to like them after all.

This year is the 75th anniversary of The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton. I adored reading about The Famous Five adventures as a child and I read all the books numerous times.
There are 21 books in the series and I wanted to reread them for a long time. Yesterday I decided it's finally time. I went to the library and got the first five books. And I can't wait to start reading!

Famous Five Appreciation Post!

A pile of childhood favourites...still some of the best books I've read ❤️

I found it surprising to discover non-English people hadn't heard of the famous five. When I posted about it on my Insta page it was met with blank looks from a lot of my American and Australian friends.
They are something of a national treasure here, a British institution. Like the Hardy boys only with more 'what ho ' and dash and bother it all' . As a child I wanted all their adventures, foiling smugglers and lashing of ginger beer 😁 #britlit

Next up in #LizsLibraryLoves is Enid Blyton. My Auntie Lilla had two children much older than me, so when she saw how much I loved books she started giving me their old copies of authors like Enid Blyton. I loved the Famous Five, I think I read every book in the series at least five times. Gave me a totally unrealistic version of England but it also fueled my 7yr old imagination, I went on so many adventures in my backyard & down the local creek!

#LiteraryBestFriends .. When I was young I really wanted to be friends with The Famous Five, so I can go on crazy adventures with them🕵🏻.. And who doesn't want to be friends with Harry, Ron and Hermione 😉.. And finally Luna, I guess we will get along really well 😁. #OctoberPhotoChallenge
