In the Weeds | B. K. Borison
Bailedbailed

Felt the same as Lovelight Farms: difficult to catch on to and connect with. So many people with a lot to follow, and the skipping around plus flashbacks also got confusing

Sunday reading with snuggly Penny.

I‘m so impressed with Cait Nary‘s range, y‘all. She‘s great at high stress romances (SEASON‘S CHANGE), adorable romcoms (LUCKY BOUNCE), and stuff like this, which slides into that sweet spot where there‘s SOME stress for the characters but it‘s mostly about them, like, finding their way through a scenario they hoped they could avoid but are actually coping with really well. IT‘S SO GOOD. Bring on the back half.

Soft pick, but I do love this cover! This is the sequel to Lovelight Farms and focuses on Beckett and Evie. I wanted to like this book more than I did, but I got a little bored of these two just constantly lusting after each other without actually having real conversations. It felt unrealistic/eye rolly that shagging for two nights, no real talking, has left them both pining for a year. I liked both these characters but wanted more from their ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) relationship than I got. That said... I'll still read book three 😂 But I'm glad I went with #borrownotbuy for this series.

Mrs. Borison can write. I just think her writing was not supported by a plot. As I say that, the further along I read the story reached in and pulled my heart strings. Even if there is an imbalance between the presentation of characters. There‘s Beckett, super hot, sleeve tatted, papa to 4 kittens, would give the shirt off his back to help anyone and not hurt their feelings introvert. And then there‘s Evie an influencer who is ready to put 👇🏼

Reggie down roots. See what I did there? Lol. It‘s still a pick, just off the strength of her writing and the characterization of the town and all it‘s gossipy folks. (edited) 9mo

Kerrbearlib The duckling is sooo cute! Sounds like a good book. 9mo
Reggie @TrishB lol, thanks! 9mo
Reggie @Kerrbearlib He ends up adopting an abandoned duckling. It was, I just couldn‘t help thinking it really could have been told in 100 pages. But I‘ve been into novellas and short stories for a while. So maybe it‘s me. 9mo

Borison has a way with writing that I immensely enjoy. This is the second installment in the Lovelight Farm series. It‘s just as charming and lovely as the first. I wish I could visit Lovelight. 🌲 🩶

This was my #TitlesAndTunes #GuiltyPleasure and it absolutely was a pleasure. Not as hockey heavy as the first in the series, but a lovely slow burn #romantsy. Great stuff!

#TitlesAndTunes #GuiltyPleasure

So my definition of a guilty pleasure is things I enjoy without thinking they are in any way objectively good.

I love a hockey romance, especially a romance between hockey players - no literary value, no new ideas or things to learn, just the warm & fuzzies & bit of smut doesn‘t go amiss 😆

The song is one I absolutely hated when it was released - annoyingly catchy rubbish pop🤮 When I hear it now I sing along 😎

BarbaraBB Fab post! I read that one hockey romance and loved it too 🥰 10mo
Cinfhen Need to listen to the song and might need to try a hockey romance! That does sound like good fun 🤩 ⛸️🏒🥅 10mo
LeahBergen A bit of smut! 👍😆 10mo

Centique Oh my god I love that song 😂😂😂 I was just looking at the playlist going “I wonder who posted Counting the Beat, how cool are they?” Of course it was you! 😘 10mo
Centique Didn‘t realise it was another Kiwi band until just now! Thought it was an Aussie one. 10mo
CarolynM @Centique But so very uncool in 1981 🤣 10mo
erzascarletbookgasm I don‘t know the song 🎵 will look it up! 10mo
Centique Oh dear! I‘ve just seen that the new Brandon Taylor book I preordered for you isn‘t getting very good reviews on Litsy! Oh well, the second book is lovely 🤞😘 10mo
Rissreads You do know this song is about masterbation? 🤣 10mo
CarolynM @Rissreads No I did not 😱 and I don‘t think I wanted to…🤣 9mo

I inhaled and absolutely loved this entire trilogy. She's an aspiring performer - singing, dancing, acting - who recently lost her mom and is struggling to pay the bills in LA. He's a successful singer/songwriter, producer, piano prodigy, and all around famous artist. Sparks fly, tension builds, a lot of messy hurdles to make it work, a lot of misunderstandings along the way, and so much 🌶

Now I HAVE to add Before I Let Go to my next BOTM box!

I LOVED this book! The hero in this one is now in my top five of book heroes - so incredibly easy to fall for. 🧡 The heroine was lovely too, their story so endearing, precious and oozing romance. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. #bookspin

So good! Borison is a gifted writer, her phrases are just lovely and so evocative. I loved the grumpy hero‘s depth and perspective in this one. And the community of characters is hilarious! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #JoyousJanuary @Andrew65
