When people go missing in the sleepy town of Smith's Hollow, the only clue to their fate comes when a teenager starts having terrifying visions, in a chilling horror novel from national bestselling author Christina Henry. When the bodies of two girls are found torn apart in the town of Smiths Hollow, Lauren is surprised, but she also expects that the police won't find the killer. After all, the year before her father's body was found with his heart missing, and since then everyone has moved on. Even her best friend, Miranda, has become more interested in boys than in spending time at the old ghost tree, the way they used to when they were kids. So when Lauren has a vision of a monster dragging the remains of the girls through the woods, she knows she can't just do nothing. Not like the rest of her town. But as she draws closer to answers, she realizes that the foundation of her seemingly normal town might be rotten at the center. And that if nobody else stands for the missing, she will.

Lauren glanced down at her feet as she pedaled her bike toward the woods. #firstlinefridays

Not the most exciting first line, but I'm about 150 pages in and loving it. I'd been meaning to check out this author for years, and I'm so glad I finally did!

Lol! I often think about the strangeness of this phrase, "losing one's virginity." I love seeing my own thoughts reflected back at me in a book.

This is a creepy little ghost story. I love this author. Unlike most of her previous books, this doesn't seem to be a fairy tale retelling. I really enjoyed it and found it hard to put down.

cleoh @LeahBergen @ShyBookOwl @Cathythoughts I enjoyed it! Some of the language used to create the racial tensions of the small town was a bit much, but a fun spooky story overall! 2mo

Bk20 of August & Bk9 of #LittensDressedInBlood is done! It‘s also my last #BookspinBingo book for August & happens to be my #Bookspin book from March & gave me two #bingos on this months board. Not bad from one book. It was a good horror read, not as good as her Alice series or anywhere near her last book, Near The Bone, but still very creepy. She does love her monsters! #Pageathon #PennyPerPage #ChunksterChallenge

TheAromaofBooks I really appreciate your illustration on your bingo board! 😂 3mo
Lizpixie @TheAromaofBooks it‘s a pretty accurate drawing of what August was! 3mo
TheAromaofBooks Hopefully things improve soon... I'm not sure I could live under the stringent regulations you are having there!!! 3mo
Lizpixie @TheAromaofBooks I do understand why we have them, even with the outbreak we‘re going through, deaths and hospitalisations are low. It‘s more the family side of things that‘s the hardest, my mum & my grandbaby being the worst. But once we‘re all vaccinated things will look a lot better than they do now, my 1st shot is in October. 3mo

I love small-town horror stories. A town where the residents don‘t remember the girls that go missing, and a young girl has terrifying visions of a monster in the woods. Excellent read for October. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fun and interesting story, I loved the multiple characters that all.played a role in the overall story. The Audiobook was well done, really loved the narrator. Loved how the story had aspects of family history, witches and a legend that played into the overarching plot line. Well done.

This isn't really a retelling but it almost feels like it could be...there's even a princess...but you know, she dies (not really a spoiler)...that's pretty much what this author does turns the fairytales on their ass, so to speak. If you've read and liked any of Christina Henry's other books...then you probably will like this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Something is not right in Smith Hollows... every year a girl disappears but suddenly that event is changing: more deaths. Lauren is in the middle of it and now her younger brother is having premonitions... a good spooky read to rev you up for fall! Full review at ScrappyMags.com
