What‘s not to love about a charismatic group of septuagenarians investigating a murder? Told with tenderness and humor, this story shows the vitality and complexity of its retirement community and pulls off an engaging mystery. I‘m looking forward to reading more from this fun series! 🎧

Audio may be the way to go here. I think I missed a bunch of jokes since my American internal narrator (in other words, — me!) just didn‘t pick up on all the funny bits. However, I loved this and am looking forward to reading book 2. Only thing is: I‘m worried my favorite characters will die in future books and I won‘t be able to deal? I guess that‘s a risk we all face!

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Not sure if it was the narrator or my lack of attention (lots going on in my life at the moment) but it just didn‘t grab me and pull me in the way I had hoped. I was a bit confused for much of it

After finishing The Thursday Murder Club I want to start a Book Club that, you guessed it, meets on Thursdays and talks Murder Mysteries.

This was such a great read! I love Spunky Pensioners. Residents of this retirement village have a more active social life that me! ⬇️

Switched back and forth between print and audio loans. Narration was excellent. As you can see things are really greening up here in Oklahoma. I love watching the changes of the woods behind my house. As I spend more and more time outside a good audiobook is a must.

I have a couple of weeks before 2nd in Series is due back at the Library so I'll wait a few days before starting. When I Binge Read things tend to run together. Pausing lets the story settle in my mind. But I'm really looking forward to The Man Who Died Twice! And then I'll be ready for Book 3 - The Bullet That Missed release in September. 🕵🏻‍♀️

A retirement community filled with people who refuse to let age slow them down (& who consistently outwit people much younger than them), murder & mayhem, people behaving badly, secrets—what‘s not to like? This is a super fun, quick read that will have you laughing out loud and wondering what sort of trouble the Murder Club will get up to next.

I loved the characters in this book! Especially Elizabeth and Ibrahim. The resolution of the mystery wasn‘t what I expected, and some of the way it ended seemed both unnecessarily complicated and too simple, but I enjoyed reading. I have seen that people say the new sequel is even better, so I hope to read that one soon.

4 friends in a retirement village who discuss police cold cases find themselves with a present-day case to investigate when a shady developer who is being cut out of plans to expand the village is murdered.

I found the humour rather relentless at first but once the murder happened and the investigation got underway, the book settled down into a good mystery with a side-serving of humour. Looking forward to the next one, but maybe not just yet.

If Miss Marple was alive in this century she would be a member of the Thursday Murder Club. A group of four seniors living in an upscale retirement community who enjoy solving cold cases. Imagine their excitement when a real murder lands in their laps. Full of twists and red herrings, this is a fun read. I started it yesterday and had to finish it before work. It kept me guessing till the end.

A sharp, witty murder mystery. A quartet of pensioners study old murder cases at their Thursday meetings in the jigsaw room of their retirement home. After protesting a new addition that will desecrate a cemetery there are suddenly 1, 2 and perhaps 3 contemporary murders to solve. The friendly and forgiving local police need a little assistance from the feisty and charming quartet. Wonderful characters and a rollicking good story for a 4⭐️review.

Fun, witty, clever, energetic, bold, daring, engaging, smart, opinionated, intelligent…and at least one was just plain nice. Just a few words to describe the four main characters in this book…along with septuagenarian. That‘s right! Doing the damn thing in their seventies! There was late night escapades, globe-trotting, grave un-digging by flashlights or torchlight or some such thing & a surprising amount of wine & beer consumption in mid-day!👇🏽

Nute Is this how much fun I‘ll be having if I‘m blessed to get to seventy? No doubt, not chasing after criminals or trying to solve murders!😳 But being a 70-years young badass! Good googa mooga! It‘s a long ways off, but this book puts a whole new slant on what to look forward to! To think that I envisioned serene afternoons, porches and rocking chairs. Of course, I have to live in a swanky upscale senior community, I must have a retired secret👇🏽 (edited) 3mo
Nute agent/spy/fearless female James Bond-type as my best friend, and I have to excuse a little bit of bourgeois-ness as a cute character trait. HaHa!

Although, the solving of the murders was interesting, it dulled in comparison to getting to know the main characters. That‘s where the jewel of this story is found. It touches on many concerns of aging. The author allowed for dignity and grace there, & in other places lots of humor. You will laugh!👇🏽

Nute @Cathythoughts Thank you, Cathy!💕 To me, getting to know the characters was the best part. I thought that the author made them so open and vulnerable and real. I know someone similar in character to each them. Well, except Elizabeth…I don‘t know anyone like her. I would have to know James Bond to make that a factual statement.😉😂 3mo

At the table with Mom on an unexpected day off from work. Yay, me! And maybe, yay, you, too!☺️ Tons of snow on the ground. Snow is still falling. It‘s an all day affair. I am trying to delay the action of shoveling for as long as possible so I invited Mom to the table for a hot beverage. She elected tea. I think it feels like a hot cocoa kind of day.👇🏽

Nute This book was on the table. She is always curious when she sees the word “murder” in the book title. She wants to know if what I am reading can lead to deviant thoughts & strange behaviors. Who knows, Mom? I think that I can definitely say, ‘at least not thoughts of murder.‘ Good grief! I asked her if a group of septuagenarians posed as amateur sleuths could be up to no good? She thought that was funny.

I might start shoveling snow in an hour…
