And I‘m just starting this (my first by this author). Here‘s hoping it‘s a bit creepy!

Sager loves a Vermont Fall🍂🍁 I know it‘s horror, but I really want to vacation in the Vertmont wilderness mid-October!😂

I had absolutely no doubts I would love this - being a total SagBaby🤣👏🏻

Really enjoyed how it was written as a book within a book. Kept me super interested in both storylines, which flipped back and forth seamlessly😘🤌🏻

Whoopsie… finished this one last night and forgot to post about it.

I really liked the haunted house story-within-the-story better than the current-day events of the book. It has some genuinely creepy parts and I couldn‘t stop listening to this book once I got going. It feels like the author tried to do a bit too much and some plot lines are weak or confusing. The ending was… not great.

Still waiting for the title to make sense. 🤔

This was a good haunted house story - enjoyed how it was told - from Maggie's current day POV (in the house, trying to figure out if her fathers book about it was true) and from Ewans (Maggies dad) POV as he tells the story of their life in the “horror house“ - the difference between good and great is the ending (this one was tied up neatly, great horror (I think) is messy)

I did enjoy this book but was a bit upset about the ending, just wasn‘t what I was looking for. Overall, I pretty entertaining spooky read. The twist at the end was just not my favorites of Sagers. 3.5🌟#botm

It WAS dark and stormy this morning so I was in a mood…. Now I‘m halfway through this book. Fortunately/unfortunately I have to stop for the day because I‘m seeing Waxahatchee tonight in #KCMO. #botm

I had no idea this horror/mystery glowed in the dark til I turned off my book light! This was pretty good for a mystery and average for a horror book. It wasn‘t very spooky and I feel he used an awful lot of material from Haunting of Hill House (at one point I felt like I was reading a novelization). But the mystery was good and it surprised me and it had spooky vibes. Not my favorite but I‘m glad I read it and learned the mystery behind it.

I finally read this since the new one is coming as a #BOTM add-on this month. Not my favorite Riley Sager (It‘s Lock Every Door) but I enjoyed this spooky house thriller. I think what I like most about Sager‘s books are that they take me back to the plots of horror film favorites from my youth. Definite Amityville Horror vibe for this one. 🖤I had the plot figured out but there were some twists & I did get creeped out reading it at night so 😱👍.

This book was a real page-turned. While the ending felt a bit rushed, this was an engrossing read and the structure of the novel-within-a-novel was very effective. I enjoyed this much more than Final Girls. A solid read.

I was in a real reading slump and decided to pick this one off my shelf (had it since June just sitting there). Well, it was just what I needed!!! If you are looking for a (spooky) page turner - I highly recommend this one! Definitely in my top 10 favs!!

I am reading waaay too many books all at one time right now! Usually I am a one book at a time person and Litsy has totally changed my habit in the 11 months that I have been a Litten. Right now, I have 3 print books and 2 audiobooks going. What a fun twisty book! Maggie‘s life has been defined by a book her dad wrote, detailing their family‘s time in a haunted house. But now Maggie is back and ready to find out what really happened. Lots of twists I didn‘t see coming, and I had a blast reading it.

An interesting take on the “haunted house” horror genre. Kind of an Amityville Horror meets Haunting of Hill House. There were things I liked, but this took me two digital library checkouts to finish, so overall didn‘t really grab my attention. Probably my least favorite of the Riley Sager thrillers I‘ve read. 2.5 ⭐️

This was disappointing to me. It wasn‘t that it was poorly written, it was more that the characters fell flat for me and the ending seemed a bit outlandish.

I am a Riley Sager fan and love haunted house stories so it‘s no surprise I liked this!

Maggie doesn‘t remember much about living in a haunted house, but her whole life was shaped by “the Book” that her father wrote about their time there.
And yes, you get to read “the Book” (as this is a book within a book) while Maggie tries to understand what really happened.

So glad this got chosen for #LMPBC and it was also on my #NewYearWhoDis list!

Riley Sager has not yet disappointed me. I loved this book as much as every other book by him. It really is a twisty thriller with some haunted house vibes. There were parts that I felt my self getting a little creeped out and I did not put anything together before the end of the book. Loved this one!!

I loved this book. I loved the story, how it was laid out, and even the lengths of the chapters! It‘s definitely going down as one of my favorites. A lot of creepy suspense and twists and turns for me. 👍🏻

Y‘all the cover glows in the dark!!!! That‘s a creepy thing to learn in the dark. 🤣 I‘m halfway through this book and I am crazy about it. Every bit of it.
*Maggie lives in a “haunted house” when she is 5. Her dad writes about their experiences and becomes a famous author because of it. Maggie, as an adult, believes it‘s all lies. An event occurs that has her back at her home seeking truth and finding out more than she bargained for.

On to the next. Has anyone read this one yet? I have read a few others from Riley Sager and they are usually pretty good. This one looks...spooky.

I had a lot of fun with this one for #LMPBC. The spooks were fun. My only complaints had to do with a few plot elements that would be spoilers and the fact that the only “character” I was attached to was the house. However the author put a lot into the plot and story that had me hooked. This was a fun read!

Eeeeek! So excited for this one! One of my biggest regrets was not choosing this one for BOTM so I‘m excited to finally read it! Plus green is my fave color so I‘m excited to bust out one of my fave green pens 💚

Maggie Holt has just inherited the home her family abandoned and fled in the middle of the night when she was just 5. The same home her father profited off of by writing a sensational Amityville style ghost story about. Maggie doesn‘t remember anything about her life in the home, but she‘s determined to find out what really happened. She “🎵better beware, be canny and careful.🎶” An engrossing twisty dark read. I could hardly put it down.

This was my first read for December and it was so good. I was constantly guessing til the end which I very rare for me. If you haven't read this already I highly recommend you check it out if you like mystery, haunted houses, or ghost stories.

FINALLY!!! A worthy book. Really really loved this one

4⭐️ Read for #LMPBC and enjoyed it. Kept me guessing the entire time. Had some goosebump causing scenes which I think every ghost story/thriller should have.
