The Paper Bag Princess: Read-Aloud Edition | Robert Munsch
52 posts | 108 read | 23 to read
Robert Munschs beloved bestselling classic shows girls everywhere that a princess makes a perfect hero. Princess Elizabeth is excited to marry dreamy Prince Ronald, but then a dragon attacks the castle, kidnaps her prince, and burns all her clothes. In resourceful and humorous fashion, Elizabeth dons a paper bag, finds and outsmarts the dragon, and rescues Ronaldwho is less than pleased at her unprincesslike appearance. Whats a modern-day princess to do? Read this delightful tale to find out. Robert Munschs The Paper Bag Princess, a perennial favorite that has sold millions of copies in dozens of languages around the world, continues to enchant and inspire generations of young girls. This fixed-layout ebook, which preserves the design and layout of the original print book, features read-along narration by the author as well as music and sound effects.

This book was published in 1980, and is a humorous take on a fairytale. The story follows a princess and a dragon, and the princess saves the prince from a burning fire. The prince is incredibly rude to the princess, and she decides not to marry him. I will definitely use this book in my classroom!

Published in 1980, This story was about a princess who had all of her clothes burned off by a dragon's breath. The princess followed the dragon's trail and tricked him into getting tired out so he wouldn't be able to keep ruining their town. After the princess saved the prince he said “you smell like ashes and don't look like a real princess. She decided that he did appreciate her and didn't marry him.

This book is about a princess who lost everything she had in a fire produced by a dragon. The princess befriends the dragon and he helps her to find the prince that he had taken. Once the prince is found, the princess becomes unhappy and decides to stay single.

Read this old used copy of a classic to my baby in the wee hours of the morning today. I hadn't read it in years and it was just as great as I remembered. The ending where she tells off the prince (who she rescued from a dragon!) for criticizing her not looking like a princess anymore is hilarious. "Ronald you are a bum." Hahaha. Also love how she outsmarts the dragon. Dressing up as her remains my best Halloween costume.

This F book follows Princess Elizabeth, who is completely enamored with the snobby but charming Prince Ronald. When Ronald is snatched up by a dragon who destroys her castle & her clothes, she puts on the only thing she can find: a paper bag, & heads off to save Prince Ronald. This is one of my absolute favorite books, as it teaches the importance of self love & self worth, & not to allow people to make you feel bad about yourself #UCFLAE3414F19

JennaMichelleCohn This book would be great for UDL 9.1, “promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation,” and UDL 9.3, “develop self-assessment and reflection,” because it teaches readers to love themselves as they are despite what others say. ESOL strategy 3, “encourage self-talk (positive thinking),” would be great here because the story revolves around a positive mindset and offers a positive message. This book would be great for RA and RT. (edited) 3y
YvetteE I love this book! We did an assignment that involved paper bags trimmed with either dragon or princess cutouts. One of the female students wanted a dragon, but the para told her she had to do a princess; WRONG, I know. The little girl ended up drawing a princess with war face paint and dragon-like eyes! Definitely a memorable book! 3y
JennaMichelleCohn https://www.brighthubeducation.com/lesson-plans-grades-1-2/66704-the-paper-bag-p... this website offers a neat lesson plan that dabbles a bit in hyperbole and similes as well as discusses important questions that help the students further understand the book. 3y

This is a reread from Maya's early childhood days, but I'm waiting for my other P books to come in at the library and I have always loved this book! The illustrations and text go together so perfectly. Elizabeth rocks, Ronald is a bum (with an air of 80s yuppie about him 😂). Great reversal to the damsel in distress storyline.

I picked this up for a baby shower gift for a friend if mine and am trying to think up an appropriate inscription. Something hopeful, that will back up the message of the book, that connects to the future....but I keep coming back to "dont let the bastards grind you down" which isn't entirely appropriate. Or maybe it is? ?

I'm ashamed to say I haven't read this book until now, even after I performed in the freshman class theatrical adaptation of it for Bryn Mawr's May Day in 2001. A cute, feminist twist on the damsel in distress trope.

“The Paper Bag Princess” by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Michael Martchenko, is a F picture book great for S. This is not your typical Prince saved the Princess fairytale. Instead Robert Munsch decided to switch it up and have the Princess save the Prince from the dragon. But the ending is also a twist as well. Read to find out what happened when the Princess saves the Prince!

Abailliekaras @DivaDiane I started reading it to her when she was younger but it was a little too slow, she wasn‘t into it. Now though she absolutely loves them and has read all 7! The themes are ok I think and once the magic part starts it becomes quite pacy. She‘s watched the films too & says the last 2 are scary. 😉 5y

DivaDiane Those are all books I've never heard of @Abailliekaras ! We've been living in Germany and our familiarity with kids books in English is very spotty. I've been reading my own childhood faves (Narnia, The Cricket In Times Square, Charlotte's web, etc) and then we discovered Deltora! Great stuff. I'm sure he'll like HP.
