I absolutely adore Naomi Novik‘s writing. I don‘t know which story was my favorite: “Spinning Silver,” the story that turned into the novel, with quite a bit of the exact same language but a very different ending; “Dragons & Decorum,” which could also be called “Elizabeth Bennet, dragon rider”; or “Castle Coeurlieu,” like a dark retelling of a fairy tale that never existed.

I really enjoyed this series. It was a cozy fantasy set between Ireland and a fantasy world, both of which jump off the page. The characters and their banter are so fun to follow. There‘s a little spice and some adventure thrown in to keep the plot moving, though overall I enjoyed it most for the joy of the characters ❤️

Our camping trip last week took us to an area where internet access only existed next to the camp store, thus I had to do something besides doom scrolling before sleep. I had an ebook downloaded from the library and read that instead. So, now I think I‘ll do that at home as well. :)

I‘m really enjoying the art in the new Wizard of Earthsea graphic novel . Atmospheric and beautiful .

This one‘s been on my physical TBR for a while, and I finally read it! The movie was okay (but that ART STYLE OMG!!), but of course the book is better. You get more nuance behind the characters that just couldn‘t be fit into an hour and a half. Feels like a timely read, where maybe the “bad guys” aren‘t really the enemy, and the people who make the rules are never the ones to stick to them. Hmm.

Dragon/shape-shifter smut. There's an okay plot to move the story along. A pick solely because I was entertained.
