This is a story I used to love to hear my grandmother tell me when I was younger. The underlying morals of appearances can be deceiving and a little makes a big difference are lessons children must learn at a young age. I also liked it because of how simple and easy the plot is to read and understand

I would use this book in my classroom because of the quick story and the underlying meaning that can be openly talked about in a classroom.

“I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It's horrible!“

I would use this in my classroom of first or second graders. They will love the curiosity if the prince will find a princess. The classic fairytale book has beautiful illustrations that all kids will love to see and read.

This is a children's fairytale book. It is about a young woman whose royal identity is established by a test of her sensitivity. The prince wants to meet a real princess. So one day when she knocks on the door asking for a place to stay, she sleeps on the bed and tells everyone she can't sleep because she feels a pea in the bed. That is how they know she is real! This is a cute book that portrays fairytale features such as make-believe situations.

(author: Shannon Hale)

This MF follows a young mountain girl, Miri, who must attend a makeshift academy to prepare herself to become a suitable princess candidate, pitting herself against the other competitive, eligible girls and facing her own conflicting feelings about being chosen. It would work as an IR or LC, with detailed world-building and plenty of characterization to focus on.

kgarzon https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/princess-acade... This discussion guide has a great selection of questions for students to think in depth about.

EL Strategy 7: Show students how to use graphic organizers like semantic mapping and imaging (to optimize comprehension of text).

UDL Principle 9.3: Develop self-assessment and reflection (for independent reading).

DrSpalding Many primary students would immediately be engaged due to the main characters being princesses! Good choice. 2d
