Shark Lady is a biography about a girl named Eugenie Clark. She has loved sharks since she first saw them in an aquarium and has wanted to swim with them and study them. Many people disagreed with Eugenie and thought sharks were scary or ugly. They also thought women should not be scientists. She grows up to prove them wrong and goes on dives and research sharks. This book was written by Jess Keating and illustrated by Marta Álvarez Miguéns.

It was the 2019 winner of the Indie Discovery Book Awards. I think this is a great way to talk to children about trying again even after having a scare.

It won the Caldecott award for pictures and was published in 2004. The genre is fiction and it is written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes.
