A fun YA sci fi book. It has quite a few YA tropes but I felt that they were handled well and added to the story rather than detracted from it
Looking forward to the rest of the series

This book exceeded all of my expectations and more. It was a fun and surprising emotional romp through and well developed and original futuristic space world full of the brightest and most lovable characters. The found family aspect was by far my favorite part.
And the ending!!!!

Painted a simple little suncatcher while listening to Aurora Rising. I was on the fence about how I felt about this book at first, but the loveable characters have won me over. I think the narrators' excellent voices have made me enjoy this story more. I started out reading it and it was okay, but the audio is a delight!
I finished this book yesterday. It‘s definitely full of aliens, space travel, powers and conflicts! Start of another great series by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. My local library has the 2nd book on the shelf so I am going to check it out just to see what it looks like. #21 #BookSpin #21 #AlmostAChunkster (473 pages) #BFC22 #SERIES2022 #Buzzwordathon #MarvellousMarch #Pantone2022ColourChallenge Dahlia #Galaxyathon
I went to the library to pick up a couple books I had on hold for book club and decided to look around while I was there. I might have gotten carried away. 😂📚
Not my usual genre, I found this a fun, unpredictable read. It‘s full of sass, character development and space. Lots of space.
Kaufman and Kristoff are quite clever in how they address some aspects that are plot holes and ignored in other stories I‘ve read - like how everyone seems to speak English.
At points each of the characters annoyed me, and then I realised it was a clever ploy for development.
Highly recommend!
I finished my first #NewYearWhoDis book from @TheAromaofBooks list. This was a pretty decent book. I enjoyed the plot but I wished the characters were more developed. The audio production was excellent. It had a full cast. I rate it 3.5 ⭐

So much fun! These authors can do no wrong.
#pantone2022 #pop22 #popsugar - a book with a protagonist who uses a mobility aid.
Next read!
The authors of this YA book have definitely seen the original Star Trek series. There‘s Star Fleet Academy- I mean Aurora Legion- a military school whose graduates fly spaceships - they‘re good looking, super skilled and annoyingly hormonal. But the adventure is interesting so I have already started book 2 ( thanks to Kindle) I wish there was an OK rating in between Pick and So-so

Day 19: possession
How about a human girl who's possessed by an ancient entity????
I can‘t with this book! It‘s so good, I can see why my friend has recommended this book to me! It hit me with all sorts of feels and left me sobbing at one point! I would totally recommend it to anyone, especially people into sci-fi books! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This page too, I can‘t! 🥺✋
“Never underestimate the element of surprise.”
“Are you saying I‘m no good in a fight?”
“I am saying this is no time for diplomacy,” Kal responds
“Listen here, you pointy-eared, prettyboy jer-“

Enjoyed some #audiocrocheting this evening with Minerva 😊 I‘m getting sort of close to the end of the tagged book & want to keep going but I have to go to bed! 😭 #catsoflitsy
Getting in a bit of #audiobook time while Minerva prowls around the yard on this crisp October evening! #readingbuddy #catsofLitsy
Snuck one last book in for September last night. I was surprised at how quickly I was sucked into this story but I totally loved it!! The characters are fun and snarky but not perfect, the plot was intriguing, and the world-building explanations felt organic to the story. I'm excited for book 2 and super annoyed that book 3 doesn't come out until November!!!!

Day 8: nonhuman characters
I picked this because of my favorite nonhuman characters, Fin & Kal. Man I cant wait until I get the 3rd book in November! I'm ready!
Currently reading the 1st book in the AURORA CYCLE! 🪐☄️🛸🚀👽 I had been hesitant to read this because I was spoiled a character death before going into it 💀not to mention I just received Aurora Burning on hardcover and, well, let‘s just say the back cover has no consideration over people who don‘t wanna be spoiled. So IF YOU OWN AURORA BURNING ON HARDCOVER…DO NOT LOOK AT THE BACK!
Anyway I‘m loving AR so far… 37% through!

I'm gonna miss the draft. The Hadfield is disintegrating around me.
This books was very well written considered the number of POV‘s it‘s written from. I‘m a sucker for a good space adventure and this one definitely fit the bill.
I don‘t know what to say other than the fact that I absolutely love this book and NEED to read the next part of the series. So many emotions, so many great fight scenes, so many funny moments. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"We the Legion," he says.
"We the light," Scarlett replies.
"Burning bright against the night," we say in unison.
“A warrior might be all you were raised to be, Kal,” I say. “But it‘s not all you are.”
“Do moons choose the planets they orbit? Do planets choose their stars? Who am I to deny gravity, Aurora? When you shine brighter than any constellation in the sky?”
“Who wants to be normal when you can be interesting instead?”
I think about the fact that I just asked every single one of them to walk into the mouth of the beast because they believed in me. The fact that none of them blinked. And the fact that they didn't just walk in.
They flew.
"Son of a biscuit," O'Malley whispers. "Why don't you just swear like a normal person?" I mutter.
She smiles then, like I've said something funny. Glancing at me with those mismatched eyes. "Sorry, but do I seem normal to you?"
Yeah, okay, fair enough . . .
"I am not blushing."
"I mean, it kinda looks like you're blushing."
"I am not blushing."
"Ooookay," Tyler nods. "I sometimes have that effect on people, is all."
"Is your request not to punch you still in effect, sir?"

I got tears in my eyes and it's only the first volume of the series!
It was a very enjoyable reading, well written and with nice characters.
It's my first book by Amie Kauffman & Jay Kristoff, but it will not be the last! ❤🧡❤🧡❤

Overall I enjoyed the story. Plot was good and there were lots of great characters to cheer for. However there were a few things that didn't work for me. There was a lot of internal dialogue that got a bit much at times. No spoiler here, but at the end there was no decontamination of suits, etc. It seemed to me to be a essential thing to do and it was just ignored and/or skipped over. Even space opera needs to be somewhat plausible. 3.5⭐
