This one is shaping up to be a miss for me from McGinnis‘s catalog 🫤 I‘m questioning my reading palate too since this seems to be in everyone‘s top 2 fav McGinnis books. Maybe FOTS set my expectations WAY too high or my mood reader senses are not in the mood. That‘s why I‘m setting it aside. IDK, but I just can‘t help but feel “meh” about almost everything in this book. I find Mickey‘s reasoning behind her addiction way too weak. 😭

2. Gonna answer both. Unwind by Neal Shusterman will forever be my comfort read. A book where you can send your unruly children to have their body parts and organs amputated and donated to other people in need. Very comforting indeed 🥰 My comfort genre constantly switches from high fantasy and sci-fi.

1. The MC‘s character development and how I was able to root for her every step of the way. That‘s the reason why I felt every bit of tension in the story despite the book‘s obvious flaws.
2. I wish that there was even more to the mystery rather than what was revealed at the end. So maybe a sequel could‘ve had an even bigger twist waiting to be unfolded and causing more trouble in the ship.

Also started buddy reading this one with my booktok friend Kandice. Off to a good start so far 😊

Last picture of my TBR desk before these beauties are all stacked up in boxes. Tried to get to them before the month ended but that wasn‘t possible. Only leaving Heroine and Darker Shade of Magic out to read in the meantime. Opening up a new chapter of our lives in a new home. This space that we‘ve lived in for 8 months will hold so many memories. I published my first book here, and I will publish my 2nd and many more in the new one.

I‘m not enjoying this one as much as Be Not Far From Me and Female of the Species (I‘m sorry 😭) but I‘m still enjoying it a lot. The pacing is a little slow compared to the rest of her books I‘ve read and so far Mickey is my least favorite McGinnis MC.
That being said, it‘s McGinnis, so it‘s still an awesome book nonetheless. It gets darker and sadder the more I get into it so I might eat my words.

In March 5th I made this TikTok where I challenged myself to let this filter decide how many books I‘m gonna read this month.
It‘s the 23rd, and I‘m not even halfway through my 3rd book 😀 yay
Right now me and @WJCintron are in the process of moving so I‘ll barely have time to read or even finish Heroine. Should I still try to hit this 29 book goal next month?

A very calm beginning
(This is just the prologue 🥲)

So far I‘ve learned that McGinnis = emotional destruction so I‘m ready for it today. My mood reader senses have been craving a lot of depressing stuff for no reason (also I wanna marathon all of McGinnis‘s books because she‘s starting to become one of my favorite female authors). How many tissues do I need for this one? Female of the Species almost made me run out.

I know you guys are probably tired of seeing TSS quotes but I couldn‘t move on from it without sharing these last two quotes. Here‘s one of them, and I‘m glad to see another fellow author bring in a positive message against fear. #fearisaliar

This review is gonna sound negative…but just know that I enjoyed the VAST majority of this book. I ADORE Olson‘s writing style and Lindley as an MC. This book kept me at the edge of my seat and I felt every bit of tension in the story. I was about to give it an 8. But…that last 10% What was that? It‘s almost as if Olson herself didn‘t know the truth behind the mystery OR how it was gonna end so she kind of…flew through it just to get it over with

I found these pictures of little me in my FB memories…I don‘t think my little cousin was so thrilled about my reading hobbies. She definitely didn‘t care to hear a live in-person audiobook defining what a Wookie is, that‘s for sure…
I‘m also convinced her eyes were begging for help in that last picture. Maybe next time I visit, I should read her the entirety of Fountainhead

Okay…I‘m gonna rant a little bit 🥰
I know I‘m only 30% into this but that‘s enough time for me to decide that I am loving this so far and I am super invested in the story. The fact that this book has a 3.50 avg rating on Goodreads and a 40% avg rating on here BAFFLES me. People need to be a little more open-minded with books instead of hearing the phrase “love triangle” and instantly going 🤮. Remember Twilight? That‘s love triangle too. 🤷‍♂️

I grabbed this because I wanted a fun sci-fi adventure book to help me recover from Female of the Species.

Mindy McGinnis is the most quotable author I swear. Prepare for some intense quote sharing as I read. 16% in. So far Peekay is by far my fav character. Not so sure about Jack at the moment but he‘s kind of relatable with his massive crush on Alex.

This book didn‘t feel like it was just 411 pages, and I mean that in the most positive way. I buddy read this with my friend KC and @WJCintron and they flew through this faster than me. So much happened that I had to take breaks at times to read other things to ease my mind off a little. I never would‘ve seen a book like this coming from Neal. It‘s a contemporary coming of age story with “fantasy”elements. Are these the best characters Neal has birthed? Books like these are the reason why I love reading. Like I told other fellow Littens earlier, this thin monster had me cringing, wincing, and even crying in the corner of my bedroom. When a book makes you feel this way when it‘s technically words on a page, you know it‘s good. Loved everything+
