Re reading this one and this part about Earth‘s entry in the Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy gets me everytime 😂😂😂
This was a reread for my bookclub. Still funny. I listened to the audiobook this time and I loved Stephen Fry's narration per usual
WHAT I THOUGHT WEDNESDAY! So, last week I broke down and read, for the first time, the 42 year old, Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's been on my TBR for a long time so was it worth the wait ....
It's a classic that I had to re-read.
This was just fun. Loved it! Definitely going to continue the series 💚
Funny, inventive and totally illogical. Perfect escapism on a rainy Sunday. 7/10
“I‘m in this picture and I don‘t like it” 😆
I read this 40+ years ago. I loved it and I remember laughing a lot. Found this more recent publication in an Op shop and decided to have a reread. Not a good idea. I didn't finish it . I want to remember that once I loved this book. Guess I'm not that person anymore????
The book is absolutely ridiculous, but I enjoyed it. I think it works because it is so out there, and a lot of it doesn't even need to make sense. It was good for a laugh, though.
Although I've never read this book nor watched the movie version, I recognized many of the lines immediately. I found it delightful. I don't think that I'm interested enough to finish the series, but this was fun and I'm glad that I read it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
When thee next weeks promise to be very busy, I am diving back into a favourite serie. Had to choose among 3 or 4 paper editions and chose the illustrated one for home (Ereading while out).

Finished reading:
- the tagged book (not the first time reading it, I love Douglas Adams): #Roll100 #1 pick for January and #7 in #BookChain;
- A Comedian Walks Into A Funeral Home done: my February #DoubleSpin.
These 2 reads helped me get a #BookSpinBingo for this month, I think it is the earliest I was able to do this.
This was a reread in Jan. so that I can finally read the rest of the series. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
I think I enjoyed it even more on my second read. Do yourself a favor and read this book if you haven't yet.
Found my new favorite book. And my new favorite character. “Life, loathe it or ignore it, you can‘t like it.”
1. Maybe the tagged book?
2. My cat would probably say: Why is she always up in my business?

Just finished the first book. Absolutely hilarious. Never read anyone that thinks so out-of-the-box as Adams. Can‘t believe it took me this long to read this! I‘ve been super stressed out with grad school but I‘m finally trying to take some time to read more for pleasure. It feels like the only thing I‘ve been reading lately is counseling manuals and textbooks.
??"Oggi dev'essere giovedì" si disse Arthur chinandosi sopra la sua birra. "Non sono mai riuscito a capirli, i giovedì."
??“This must be Thursday,' said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer. 'I never could get the hang of Thursdays.”
"I only know as much about myself as my mind can work out under its current conditions. And its current conditions are not good."
I am loving this! I love the fantastical, easy-to-digest world that Adams is building. His prose keeps my heart light yet is very substantial. It's a very palatable book to unwind with after a huge period of stress for me. Thankful and excited to get more into this world.
A reread, and still as much fun as the first time!
Hilarious and entertaining, full of space lingo and a unique variety of settings. Definitely worth reading but I can't say there was anything exceptional about it. I really want to watch the movie now!

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is one of the most unique sci fi stories I have ever read as unlike most sci fi stories, it's not trying to tell a massive theme or being an idea of the future, it instead tells this bizarre and funny story that is sure to make you go “Wait what!”
One if my all time favourite books. It's one of the few that I actually like to re-read. It's wonderfully quirky, funny and clever at the same time.
Check out our discussion about it on my podcast Mind Duck Books: https://bit.ly/3EFHYMk
For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons.

There are so many great options for this one but had to go with a classic 👍🏻

🌟🌟🌟1/2 A crazy ride through the galaxy with some quirky folks from earth and other. It‘s absurd, silly, and brilliant in places. Marvin the android is my favorite hands down. There isn‘t any way to explain the book, just go with it, don‘t overthink it you‘ll have more fun. And don‘t forget your towel.
A hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy is a book about a survivor of earth's destruction's unwilling journey to discover outer space and the true purpose of our planet. Along the way he gets a guidebook to everything in the galaxy which gives the book its name.
If you like spacefaring science fiction novels or novels that explore humorous as well as philosophical topics, then you will adore this novel.
I give this novel a solid 9/10
Such a strange book. Just over 50% finished with it.
Recently traduced for the catalan,
this great syfy story that almost happens at the weekend and specially from where 42 effect started.

The middle-aged me is still every bit as delighted by this science fiction comedy as the teen me was shortly after its publication. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy
Finished "Hitchhiker's Guide" and it seemed like a good time for this short story.
