Pickpick

Picked this one up because it was the March pick for #swordandlaserpodcast - I‘m not sure if audio was the best way to read this. I kept confusing who everyone was. There was also a lot of death and killing. It is a war book. Also, is it a love triangle if all 3 want to be together?

Awk_Word_Smith I loved this book so much. Can‘t wait for the next one but since the author is pro-not-killing-everyone-in-the-Middle-East the publisher is holding the release. #politics (edited) 3w
5feet.of.fury @Awk_Word_Smith is that what happened?! Ugh, I thought the release date was soon and I saw today it‘s December. I know Xiran Jay Zhao was speaking out about the snubs for Chinese books at the Hugo‘s, but I missed that. 3w
Awk_Word_Smith @5feet.of.fury They was also speaking out on the Gaza War as well. Their publisher didn‘t seem to like that and pushed the book back. SMH 🤦‍♂️ (edited) 3w
5feet.of.fury @Awk_Word_Smith ugh. Very disappointed in the publisher then …it should have been no surprise that the author is political. I‘m gonna have to stalk their socials later for the tea 3w
Awk_Word_Smith @5feet.of.fury I love Zhao‘s IG account 3w

Picked this book up because it was the December pick for #swordandlaserpodcast. I had never heard of this book before. It was pretty good. A retired group of guys get back together to save their band mates daughter. There is a lot of action, fighting and exploring and traveling to different parts of this world. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

This was a low pick for me. It‘s a sci-fi Sherlockian novella. I read it at the beginning of November for #swordandlaserpodcast

It was a quick read and the mystery was interesting. I‘m just not always a fan of sci-fi or novellas.

Mehso-so

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. Towards the end, I just wanted it to be over. I had trouble connecting with the story. The writing style was different than I‘m used to. I have lots of thoughts. Lucy‘s character annoyed me. I also am not a huge music person and there was obviously A LOT.

Megabooks Too bad because the cover is fantastic! 2y
Cortg I like your Book Beau! I have one in a different cover, this one wasn't available and I was impatient. I do use it pretty much every day. 2y
Laughterhp @Cortg I got it for a Christmas present a couple of years ago. I love it! I use it whenever I read on the couch. 2y

I‘m looking forward to the #swordandlaserpodcast discussion on this one because I‘m not exactly sure what happened. I‘m not sure what I was expecting, but not what happened. You obviously can‘t say about this book or it‘ll ruin the journey. I read and had no idea what was going on the whole time.

#BookSpin - for May (a #BOTM book)

Moonprismpower I loved this book. It was so heart wrenching. I didn‘t have ‘much‘ trouble with this book. But I had trouble understanding the book Bunny by Mona Awad. I had to listen to a podcast that explained it and then reread the ending. Now I‘ll have to listen to the podcast you mentioned and their review of this book. So thanks for the podcast rec! 3y
Laughterhp @Moonprismpower It‘s one of my favorite podcasts. It‘s a fantasy/sci-fi book club basically and they switch genres each month. This was the June book! 3y
Cinfhen Im curious what the podcast will say as well!! I think I got the ending but it was so confusing the whole time ( I still enjoyed the experience) Nice choice 🤩 3y

LazyOwl I'm looking forward to the podcast as well. It definitely isn't your classic scifi/fantasy. It was a slow build for me but in the end I kept wanting to go back to Piranesi. 3y
TheAromaofBooks I've seen so many good reviews of this one!!! I'm a little scared to read it because I really couldn't stand Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. 3y
Laughterhp @TheAromaofBooks I‘ve never read Jonathan Strange, so this was my first book my this author. 3y
TheAromaofBooks Almost everyone seemed to love it, so I was definitely in the minority haha 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I just grabbed a copy of the ebook on sale a few weeks ago. But I‘ll have to wait until I recover from the confusing book I‘m reading right now. 3y

It was so great to have a longer Murderbot book! This was so good! Not too much I can say. Thanks to @rachelsbrittain for giving me the push to catch up with this series! I would probably still be on book 3 without your #NewYearWhoDis list!

This is also the #SwordandLaserPodcast book this month

Book 3 finished for #NutsinMay

Andrew65 Sounds great 👏👏👏 (edited) 3y
rachelsbrittain Ah yay! I'm so glad it got you motivated to catch up on the series and that you enjoyed it!! 3y
LazyOwl I'm making my way through the novellas so I can get to Network Effect for S&L as well. 3y

Finish either Winter Counts (so incredibly violent) or The Space Between Worlds for #BOTM debut category
Start the Downstairs girl either in print or audio and start Howl‘s Moving Castle for #SwordandLaserPodcast

Putting together a small #AprilTBR - Not sure what I‘ll actually be in the mood to read but I do want to read all these books. Luckily I own all but 1, so I do have to wait for an audio hold to come in.

The tagged is for #AgathaChristieClubR2, 3 are #BOTM, and 1 is for #swordandlaserpodcast

Beachesnbooks Beach Read is on my TBR too, and I love Magic Burns 📚 4y

This is between a pick and a so-so. It was a little on the long side and everyone‘s journey seemed to drag a bit, but I felt like Moon had to go on such a journey to learn her purpose and so we could see different parts of the world. It was definitely an interesting read and now I have to go read the Hans Christian Anderson tale.

I‘ve been struggling to get into a book the last couple of days. I‘ve tried reading the first chapter of about 4 books and none of them have been grabbing me.

I picked this one up today and I‘m hoping it‘ll stick! This book is this month‘s Sword & Laser Pick.
