This was delightful! Told from the perspective of a man who is clearly on the autism spectrum and in search of a life partner, it was quirky and highly amusing. Knowing people on the spectrum personally, I found the protagonist to be both accurate and endearing. This was a sweet, charming read.

This is perhaps the only romantic comedy book that I have ever enjoyed. Simsion wonderfullly managed to keep the book strictly funny and that was the highlight of the book for me.
The plot of the book is the quest of a man to form a scientific theory for love and of course, failing miserably yet hilariously😂

Eggbeater I liked this one also and I do not usually enjoy romance novels. 2mo

I had previously DNF'd this because of a lack of interest. I decided to try it again because it fills some of my harder prompts. After about 50 pages I started to get into it and didn't want to stop reading by the end. I'm glad I gave it another go. Don is a great character.

I adored this little book. Highly recommend it for a delightful, upbeat read. Perfectly charming MC, albeit unique, whose quirks are adorable. A brilliant geneticist who navigates the social world of dating as a neuro atypical person. Simply lovely. #MountTbr

Light, fun read narrated by a socially challenged genetics professor who undertakes a "scientific" quest to find out if he is capable of love. I enjoyed the voice of the narrator who is on the autism spectrum, although the novelty of it wore off by the end.

Don is a genetics professor who is somewhere on the autism spectrum. He decides he wants a wife and designs a questionnaire to screen out incompatible women. And then he meets Rosie and knows immediately that she is not at all the kind of woman he wants on his life. Except, of course she is.

A fluffy rom-com. I don‘t have enough experience with people who are autistic to know how authentic Don is, but some of his actions seem unrealistic.

Freespirit I really enjoyed it😄 7mo

Bear hugs to everyone who recommended this to me. If you loved Eleanor Oliphant, socially awkward geneticist Don Tillman of The Rosie Project is going to be your next favorite narrator. A did-that-just-happen moment in almost every scene, laughs just as often, and a voice that flows as if from the mouth of an actual human being.

CoffeeNBooks I loved Don!!! He reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. I seem to like quirky main characters- Don, Eleanor, Ove, Britt-Marie. I loved them all! 8mo

Yes!!! My son has Asperger's. I cannot imagine him any other way. Nothing infuriates me more than for someone to talk about "curing" him. If there was a cure for autism the world would be a sad dull place. He has his challenges. We've cried some tears, mostly bc other people are mean but he has an elevated IQ, is a whiz at math and computer stuff and the most loving kid you'll meet. He will do amazing things.

Notafraidofwords I have a loved one that was recently diagnosed. Age 5. And a very picky eater, any tips you can provide ? 12mo
KristinaRay I‘m glad to hear more people pointing this out. 12mo
toofondofbooks @Notafraidofwords none on the picky eating bc mine still is at 13. Sensory processing disorder usually goes hand in hand with asperger's, so the food thing is usually due to that. I can tell you that ages 5-11 were our most difficult. But it does get much better as they get older and begin to understand what their triggers are ect. The biggest thing is to understand that an autism meltdown is not a kid misbehaving. 12mo
Reviewsbylola My daughter is autistic too. She‘ll be 6 tomorrow. She certainly has her challenges but she loves telling people how she is special because “I have autistic”. 😂❤️ She is one of the funniest, sweetest people I‘ve ever met and I can‘t even imagine what she would be like without autism. 12mo
Reviewsbylola @Notafraidofwords my ASD daughter is a horrible eater. She literally lives off of potato chips, milk, and little caesars pizza with no cheese or toppings. She went through a feeding clinic a year ago and they gave me some tips and tricks to try and did offer to enroll her in a feeding clinic, which everyone involved ultimately decided wouldn‘t be right for her. She is healthy and not malnourished so there isn‘t a lot of concern about it. 12mo
toofondofbooks @Notafraidofwords @Reviewsbylola my son is the same. These days he flat out tells people that he's not weird, he just has autism lol. And with his eating, I used to stress about it, but he's healthy and growing so I learned to pick my battles. He has gotten a little better aboust trying new things, but it's usually chicken and fries or pb&j that he lives on. 12mo
Reviewsbylola Yes, my daughter loves fries too. And she has started making an effort to try things here and there. Even getting her to touch or lick a new food is a huge accomplishment. This summer she has licked a shrimp and eaten a few bites of cantaloupe and it was a huge accomplishment for her. She was very proud. ❤️ @toofondofbooks @Notafraidofwords 12mo
CarolynM @Notafraidofwords Stay calm about it, you can't force a child to eat and you really don't want eating to become a source of stress for him/her. My aspie son is 21 and 6'2" now and will eat most things he's served, but there were a lot of years when his diet was very limited. Don't worry about the judgement of others, focus on whatever is good about what your kid does❤️❤️❤️ @toofondofbooks @Reviewsbylola 12mo
Notafraidofwords @CarolynM @Reviewsbylola @toofondofbooks y‘all. My heart is filled. Thank you for your kindness. You are all so accepting. And have made this so much easier. 12mo
Reviewsbylola ❤️❤️ it can be an isolating place. It‘s hard when you feel like people are constantly judging your child but your family member is lucky to have someone like you advocating for them and trying to get all the information you can. @Notafraidofwords 12mo
toofondofbooks @Reviewsbylola @Notafraidofwords the good far outweighs the bad for me. He sees the world in such a different way and I've learned to view it more through his eyes as well. Plus he is freaking hilarious lol 12mo

I liked this book far better than I expected to. I was so afraid of the manic pixie dream girl “reforming” a neuro-atypical character, but Rosie respects his boundaries and who he is. And Don finds genuine joy is some new experiences, and chooses not to change those things that are most important to him.

So I wanna know, when you are reading a book do you take the sleeve cover off or leave it on? Why or why not?

whippoorwill815 I always take them off. I carry the books around too much or take them in the bathtub so the covers can be a nuisance but also easily wrecked! 1y
GloVerdino Always off! I like to keep the outside cover clean 1y

AllenTStClair On. The flyleaf makes a convenient book mark. 😃 1y
DGRachel On. I‘d lose or damage the jacket if I separated it. Plus, I don‘t want damage the book cover. 1y
Liatrek I always take it off when I'm reading the book. It's just easier to me. 1y
Dragon I always leave it on. 1y
TheLibrarian I take it off so it stays nice. I‘m a sucker for pristine books. 1y
BookishShelly I take them off. I find them annoying and wish they made them like paperbacks with the cover image directly on the book. 1y
kstadt929 I always ALWAYS automatically take mine off because I feel like they always fold up weird/get bent/fall off when you leave them on! They drive me crazy 1y
wanderinglynn Take it off so it doesn‘t get damaged and because it always shifts when I‘m reading & that drives me nuts. 1y
blondie I take mine off because it just gets in the way. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I take them off while reading. Once I‘m finished, it‘s goes back on and hides any wear to the book. 1y
VanChocStrawberry I take mine off because they rip so easily! Also when I lend them to people, because it keeps them clean and helps me remember which books have been loaned out. 1y
Karkar I take it off when reading. I do not want it to get ripped, torn, dirty or otherwise injured. 1y
MicrobeMom I have done both. If the sleeve cover is getting damaged, I take it off. 1y
Mrs_Organized_Chaos They stay on. I use the flaps as bookmarks!😁 1y
CareBear I take it off. I find them incredibly frustrating. 1y
rubyslippersreads I take them off unless they have a Mylar cover over the dust jacket (and sometimes even then, if they're too floppy). 1y
Kdgordon88 Off to protect them and sometimes you get a nice surprise with a decorated binding. 1y
bell7 The benefit of reading mostly library books is that the covers are taped down...but for my own books, I take them off. They tend to slide down and get bent and in my way. 1y
CouronneDhiver I leave the dust jacket on unless it‘s really annoying me 1y
Chazlyn @bell7 Yes, yes, yes! I actually should learn how to tape them down myself so that can do it to my books! For me, it's a tactile things - the material under the jacket usually makes my brain unhappy. (edited) 1y
Raemorales Dust jacket off, if they rip or get torn up it seriously bothers me. 1y
Dana1084 Paperbacks all the way, lol! Any hardcovers I get are from the library, so the dust jacket is already secured. 1y
Swe_Eva Off while I‘m reading (because they slide slightly back and forth and it‘s slightly irritating 😏) and then back on so I can use the flaps as bookmarks. 1y
minkyb If I own the book and am keeping it I leave it on. If I am going to pass it on I take it off so it does not get damaged. 1y

Starting another one from @Beckykearns #FreakyFriday list! And this one on audio! I tried many audio books and failed. I find it hard to concentrate. Nevertheless I'm determined to try this one😊 Will see how it goes.😊

This was my top book of 2018. It‘s clever, fun, and tender all at the same time. I love misfits, and aren‘t we all at times? I did see the ending coming, but only because I was familiar with the science behind some of it. Highly recommended.

Such a cute read that kept me up late at night. I fell in love with the main character and his quirks, though Rosie herself often pissed me off. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding who the father was. #therosieproject ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Who knew I was wasting so much time by being early to everything 😂 #formermusicmajor

JackOBotts Same! But I loathe being late...being early = more time to read! 1y
Cfbriggs1 @JackOBotts I agree! Whenever I‘m early to something I generally set an alarm on my phone and read in my car. I‘m often up to 45 minutes early just so I can do this 😂 (edited) 1y

I didn‘t know it‘s so difficult to find a book with #heartsoncover from my shelves. This is the best I can come close to.
