LibrarianRyan #booked2020 @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraBB 21/24. This one I‘m mad at. I was so close. And I had two of the missing books but both were chunckaters and I didn‘t get to them. 3y

LibrarianRyan And lastly Beat the backlist 65/80 3y
BarbaraBB You did super well, especially considering the amount of challenges! I am not the host of #Booked2020 though, you mean @BarbaraTheBibliophage ! 3y
LibrarianRyan @BarbaraBB sorry about that bi did know it was the other Barbara. I must have hit the wrong name as I was typing. 3y

Here is my 2020 wrap-up:

Despite a few slumpy periods, I exceeded my total goal. 43 of the 202 were children‘s picture books so that helped.

I didn‘t complete all the prompts or authors for #Booked2020, #ReadWithMrBook, or #AuthorAMonth, but I‘m already plotting and planning for 2021. 🤓

I just missed my goal of reading 35 books that I own. Let‘s not talk about how many Kindle books I bought this year. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I joined #Bookspin and ⬇️

Bookzombie #Doublespin in February. I missed a couple of months when I took a Litsy break, but picked it back up in October. However, I‘m reshelving my December picks because I‘m not in the right headspace for them. I hope that‘s okay @TheAromaofBooks 🙂 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick You might not have completed every individual goal but that's still a great reading year! 3y
Bookzombie @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Aww, thanks! I‘m not mad. I read a lot. 🙂 3y

Megabooks Getting through this year is a triumph! Don‘t be hard on yourself. 💜 3y
Bookzombie @Megabooks Thank you! 💗 3y
Reggie Lol, you did pretty good, Margie! 🥳 Happy New Year! 3y
Gissy What you read is what really counts and it was an awesome reading year!📚📚📚🤗 3y
TheAromaofBooks I'm all about setting books aside that aren't working for you!! Their time will be right someday!! 3y
Bookzombie @Reggie Thanks! 🥳 Happy New Year! 3y
Bookzombie Thank you @Gissy ! 😊 3y
Bookzombie @TheAromaofBooks Thank you so much! I‘m looking forward to this month‘s bookspin. I will get my list up today. 3y
Kenyazero I probably read less than 10 books I own, and also added to my book collection 😂 I like the idea of setting a goal to read some of your owned books, though. I might have to do that 🤔 3y
Bookzombie @Kenyazero I‘m generally such a library user that I don‘t pick up what I own enough. #Bookspin really helped this year with reading some of what I own. 3y

Bud, Not Buddy | Christopher Paul Curtis

Pickpick

I read this because I‘m helping my 10 year old granddaughter with a project about it. Bud‘s mom died when he was six and now he‘s 10 and wondering who his dad is. He thinks Momma left some clues and he starts hunting, even though it‘s a big risk. It‘s 1936 and the Great Depression. He‘s a little black boy who shouldn‘t be wandering. And I loved following his adventure!

#readwithmrbook @MrBook done!
And what a delightful way to finish! I‘ve never read Kate DiCamillo before 🤦‍♀️ but decided to try one for the Newbery winner challenge.
I loved this adorable story, the humor, the way the narrator addresses the reader, particularly when encouraging us to look up words in the dictionary!
A lovely experience on audio.... when my retail life is exhausting right now, this made for a great commute! 💕🎧

mom2bugnbee Kate DiCamillo is wonderful for all ages! She was a favorite of my daughters when they were younger, but they still pick her up from time to time, at, ages 18 & 15! 3y
Crazeedi Congrats!!!! 3y

I‘ve always heard good things about this book, but probably would never have read it had it not been for #readwithmrbook.

It was surprisingly powerful for a kids‘ book and so well-written. Are you still enjoying reading it to your son? @Caroline2

Thanks for a great year-long challenge, Jason! @MrBook

#newberyawardwinner

TrishB I remember reading with my son 😁 3y
quietlycuriouskate You're nicer than me, @TrishB . I remember finding this in my daughter's school bag and not giving it back until I'd finished it. In my defence, she didn't have to wait long. 3y

My not very ambitious #DecemberTBR .... we‘ll see how I get on! (I never have much reading time in December- work is bonkers!)

L to R, Top to bottom...
- The first Enola Holmes middle grade, as the movie was adorable, and it‘s my #bookspin
- Next 2 will complete my #pop2020 with an AI and an anthology
- a gift from my lovely friend @squirrelbrain
- Some festive Hercule for #AuthoraMonth
- My final book for December for #readwithMrBook

-

squirrelbrain Sounds like a good plan to me! 😘 3y

I've read this book in autumn. Loved the movies based by this book and watched it so many times. So I really wanted to read this book and don't know why I didn't read it before. It was a great book, I loved it and was sucked in the story immediately. It was so different from the movie that movie disappointed me. Vivian was a badass heroine, she was brave strong and amazing. This is going to my favourite shelf.

I was not prepared to be so affected by this book! My first Atwood and I must say I am impressed. It‘s disturbing and sad and totally plausible. It‘s the female version of 1984, and being a woman, this hits closer to home.

Cinfhen I agree, this book was SO GOOD!!!! 3y
SamAnne I just finished rereading--it has been years and years--in conjunction with reading the sequel The Testaments. I had forgotten just what a brilliant classic it was. I loved the set up of it being a story handed down and read in the future--highlighting the need to bear witness, tell your story as an act of protest and for those who come after. And I love Atwood's introduction in the new edition. Highly recommend the Testaments ! 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage This really is a classic now. Unlike @SamAnne I didn‘t like The Testaments nearly as much. But it‘s worth knowing the next chapters in the story. 3y
Jovy @SamAnne @BarbaraTheBibliophage I was debating if I should dive straight into The Testaments or if I should savour this first 😀 3y
