When looking for an entry for #quotsyapr19 (antique), I came across this collections of books left me by my Gear Aunt Blanche. Covered by hand in snakeskin, cowhide, and lamb, dating from between 1892 and 1899. A couple were also hand-tooled. The pages are brittle and delicate, but I insist on bringing them out every once in a while to see how they are doing.

Climate change has made for extreme Winter where hibernation is a needed evolution. HiberTech has made a drug Morphenox that enables sleep without dreams. The Consuls have found that a path to live inside the old dream world could mean less zombie-like creatures. But what does that mean to legal consent?
Fascinating premise and a well-told fantasy.

As hurricane season approaches, my family are hyper-aware. My great-grandparents lived on the island
and and my grandfather was born only months after this conflagration. His mother hung onto a porch pillar as the waves blew through the town. I read every book written on the subject. September is worse, but I can talk about it this time of year. Still pretty raw in the family.

I‘ll just start by saying that this review is of an advanced reader‘s copy and not even the finished product. (Got that one ordered for its release in May).
What I wanted out of this book was to feel the anxiety, the joy, the fear, the “ga fuck yaself” of the voices I love from Karen and Georgia. Got it. It is absolutely their voices and I feel them.

Can‘t imagine how I missed this when it was released. And, can‘t imagine how this could have gone on for so long. Intriguing story of another terrifying part of American history. Only 100 years ago, there were countless murders of Osage for their iil rights, the investigation of which helped to form the current FBI.

I was just so sure that the book couldn‘t live up to the movie that I put off reading this for several years. Perhaps (probably) because the author is also the screenwriter. But also because Morgernstern‘s own words were so deadpan funny that the humor translated. I‘m now curious to read the Morgenstern original to see how much was excised for this rendition.

KarenUK Are you doing the #booked2019 challenge? I wondered whether this was your fairytale retelling...👸 3mo
Tex2Flo @KarenUK I already have plenty of fantasy on popsugar, so this one is for my “love in the title”. 3mo
Butterflyamore Morgenstern isn‘t real. All of that is fictional. It‘s the gimmick in the book to entertain the reader. The book was 100% the imagination of William Goldman. 3mo
Tex2Flo @Butterflyamore well, I‘m completely bought in. It worked for me and still love the story. 😛 3mo
