While this was a “pick” for me, it‘s not a favorite from her. Not sure why. It was a little too long and drawn out, and I didn‘t connect as well with her characters as I usually do. This revolves around the trauma and aftermath of a mall shooting and how years later someone is out to take revenge on those who survived. Violence (obviously) involved. 3.5/5⭐️

This was my #DoubleSpin.

TheAromaofBooks I just picked this one up at a library booksale last month, but haven't read it yet! 2mo

1. Moon of the Crusted Snow. My daughter gave it to me for Christmas and I loved it!
2. Untamed by Glennon Doyle
3. Tagged. I don‘t read many love stories anymore but recently read this one and it was a love story wrapped in a thriller. I wish she wrote more books like this one!

⭐⭐⭐.5
Barely a pick, so much potential...the mass shooting and the aftermath were very interesting. I enjoyed characters Simone, Reed, Mea, Chaz and most of the others. The The Reed/CiCi dialogue was too much; along with the talk about wiches and New Age stuff.

This was a big meh for me. Predictable and somehow slow seeming and too much going on. I almost bailed but kept thinking it would get better. It didn‘t for me.

Lizpixie I enjoyed it as a light but still on theme read for me. Maybe it‘s because I listened to the audiobook, the narrator was really good.🎧 3y

Bk1 of my #Scareathlon is finished. I‘ve always blown off Nora Roberts thinking she was mostly a romance writer, but after receiving Under Currents in a giveaway, I was pleasantly surprised. This was another good one, a very easy listen & perfect for some #audiopuzzling It has its flaws but overall I very much enjoyed it, the characters are delightful mostly & the killer is nuts. That‘s 3points for #TeamSlaughter
#PointsTotal-7

Clwojick Woohoo! ♥️ 2 points for reading, and 1 for participation. 😉 3y

I‘ve been #audiojournaling for the start of the #Scareathlon I‘m halfway through Ch19 in this thriller by Nora Roberts. 16yr old Simone & her friends & 17yr old Reed are caught up in a mass shooting at the mall in their town in Maine. Years later, with Reed now a cop & Simone working out her grief & trauma in sculpture, the sister of the lead shooter starts killing the survivors one by one. #TeamSlaughter PS..does this count as 1 point?

Clwojick If you use any of the hashtags, and tag us then you get 1 point for participation. So yes this post counts!!! Go #TeamSlaughter 3y

Added over 2 1/2hrs of audiobook to my total & was able to rest my eyes a little bit(with the help of some Visine👁👁)Switching back to a print book, it‘s a bit hard to choose though, so many of my #TBR books I‘m saving for the #Scarathlon & the rest are hefty SciFi or fantasy which I don‘t want to begin this close to the 1st! Decisions, decisions🤔 #24B4Monday #readathon

Seeing as my eyes are so red I look like I‘m possessed....or drunk, I‘m switching to an audiobook for awhile. I really enjoyed Under Currents by this author so I thought I‘d give another of her crime/romance novels a try. I didn‘t realise she is so prolific, and in so many genres as well. This one, full romance, fantasy, paranormal & dystopian, she does them all. #24B4Monday #readathon

Whew, that was much more intense than the average Nora Roberts book! The romantic plot doesn't come into play until nearly halfway through and there isn't much of a mystery because you're told exactly who the bad guy is early on - but that doesn't make it any less sinister. The mass shooting storyline is a bit too real, but I definitely recommend!

The very first Nora Roberts book I attempted to read was when I was in high school. My mom told me that I wasn't allowed to finish it and since then, I've had a weird aversion to Roberts's writing. I felt guilty for wanting to read it. I've been an adult for 10 years now and I started this book last night. I had such a strong emotional response to the content of the first few chapters and I haven't been able to put it down since except to sleep.

My GoT inspired shawl (pattern is Find Your Fade). I have made a big boo boo somewhere. Going to have to consult the yarn doctors (knitters in my group with 50+ years of knitting) to see if it can be fixed.
Colors you see from left to right: Poseidon's Wrath (ok not GoT but the sea is very important in the series), Arya, The Hound, and Tormund.

Really liked this! I got an email from a bookstore I shop at, with a chapter to read and a competition to guess the author. That chapter had me hooked and I bought the book as soon as it came out. Then I had a baby and got too tired to read at night 🤦🏻‍♀️ I put the book aside but found myself thinking of the characters and events quite often. When I got some sleep under my belt I picked the book up again and finished it. A great read!

I‘ve been reading a lot lately (can you say escapism? 😉), But haven‘t given myself time to post. Trying to catch up today.

I rarely read Nora Roberts, but did enjoy this one. Initially, I was thinking it was going to be similar to 19 Minutes, but ended up being much different. I don‘t want to give too much away, but I loved CiCi, Reed and Simone. Great characters.

A wonderful story, though also sad during current events, about a mass shooting at a mall and how it impacted the lives of certain survivors. I really loved the characters, CiCi, Reed, Simone. I loved how they shaped their lives. And I enjoyed the overall story. And it had some beautiful pages inside, like the inside cover above. Just wish I could get that Target sticker to come off the cover!

I have not been on Litsy in DAYS! I have had crazy training for this new job, and in groups, having to talk in front of groups. And it sucks for an intovert like me. So when I get home, I just want to shut myself away and not communicate at all. 😕 But I started this book this weekend and am enjoying it. Also, this pup is making a mess on my bed with a new bone I got her tonight after work.... 🙄🐶🤷‍♀️

Hope to catch up soon with everyone! 🙋‍♀️

Target haul. The Target I went to (not one I regularly go to) had a huge book section and I wanted to get so many. But this hardback NR was only $12 and this last In Death book is the latest one I haven't read yet. So these two jumped in my cart. I'll have to check out that Target's book section more often.

Nora Roberts Shelter in Place is a must read if you haven‘t already. The book is divided into three parts that deal with a touchy subject of a mass shooting in the mall. The story pulls you in right away and keeps you wanting to read. There are some drawn out parts near the end that I thought could have been left out and still made it a good book and the ending seemed to happen to quickly. Overall a good book.

Romantic suspense involving one of the grim realities of contemporary United States life—mass shootings. In the years following a devastating mass shooting at a mall in Portland, Maine, the survivors funnel their trauma through different outlets: pursuing careers in law enforcement, cultivating an artistic side, generally trying to move on in some level of peace. But while the city is healing and rebuilding itself, one person believes the shooter didn't go far enough...
