Overall, it was enjoyable. If you‘re a Star Wars fan. As with any anthology, there were hits and misses. For me the hits outnumbered the misses, the the quality of the hits far outweighed any negatives from the misses. It was quite interesting to see where an author would go with ancillary characters, such as the dianoga in the Death Star trash compactor. Four stars and I hope the other two can be just as good.

Wil Wheaton switch hitting from Star Trek to a short Star Wars story. And I‘m here for it.

The entire Star Wars movie told from the perspective of ancillary characters? Yes. Please. And. Thank. You.

This was such a fun collection of short stories. A great concept well executed. There was quite a lot of focus on patrons of the cantina (that section dragged a little, not because the stories weren't good, but I just wanted to move on). I don't think there was a bad story in the book. Expectations are raised for the next two.

At last, this book was announced yesterday! I love the concept and would have bought it regardless, but I finally started reading the A New Hope volume, and it is a lot of fun so far. Looking forward to reading all three this year.

1. I like wearing clothes two sizes too big on lazy days. Unfortunately, my lazy clothes from three years ago are my regular clothes now 😫
2. Three. A collection of Lois Lowry's Giver universe, The Memory Librarian, and the tagged book.

This was a fun collection of stories, set concurrently with "A New Hope." A good mix of serious stories and ones that were winking at the proverbial camera, making jokes and references for fans. I had no idea I had an exclusive edition until just now when I couldn't find the ISBN on StoryGraph. This had been on my wishlist several years ago and it was just the one my husband happened to buy at B&N at the time. #storyaday2023

Yesterday after the concert I went to the mall to walk around out of heat and rain. I did some window shopping at the Vera Bradley store, where I discovered a slew of Star Wars branded products. Who knew!

10 titles & the upcoming novels are left to get. I have every published title in Legends & New Canon timelines from the timeline on yodasdatapad. I‘m not going to get the older YA or MG on Wookiepedia but I may go for the comics/graphic novels eventually. I have other author collections to catch up on. #starwars #adultmoney #thisiswhatteachingpaysfor

Happy Star Wars Day and May the Fourth Be You!

Happy Star Wars Day! And also today's the day 💐🔔👰💍💒🤵

This is an artsy bookmark with a light and a dark side. It was one I got in an Owlcrate box a while back, and I love it.

@aperfectmjk

This is a collection of Star Wars stories that take place during A New Hope but from some of the lesser known characters. Some of the stories in the middle seemed a little too long. My favorites are Raymus, The Red One, The Angle, By Whatever Sun and Whills 🧡

🎧 I enjoyed this collection! I put the hardcover on my Amazon Book Wish List! I love finding a collection of short stories with a high percent of good stories!
Quick, easy, fun read!! A great gateway book to a plethora of Star Wars novels. Now I need the Empire Strikes Back Collection!
#MayThe4thBeWithYou
I might be fairly nerdy. 😁

I loved this book some of my favorite authors contributed to the stories. Greg Rucka, Nnedi Okorafor and several others.

I‘m not a big Star Wars fan, but I have been stalking the Out of Print website since the end of December for this to come back in stock. My hard work paid off.

My latest library book. I am really looking forward to this and because it is short stories I am hoping I will be able to focus enough to read them
I love Star Wars. Have ever since my mother brought me up to it. The original /real/ trilogy by George Lucas. Some of these stories were just so dang entertaining. I‘ve laughed aloud with some, cried along with others. Some were hard to read, being uninteresting. These were not the continuation of the story, as I had thought, but other insights to random side characters. So they felt way out there

This is super fun - although I have mixed feelings on feeling sympathetic towards members of the Empire.

Experience Star Wars: A New Hope from a whole new point of view.
On May 25, 1977, the world was introduced to Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and a galaxy full of possibilities. In honor of the 40th anniversary, more than 40 contributors lend their vision to this retelling of Star Wars..

Well #StarWarsBuddyRead I went in to update our survey options for the next vote and realized we have just enough left for all of next year! So I grouped the few that are set right around the same time as The Aftermath trilogy first, then put the rest in roughly publication order, so that way the newest published will be later in the year and hopefully easy to access in the library system and available in all countries. 🤞

...Empire Strikes Back edition just announced! Just as they did for A New Hope(Episode 4), DelRey has gathered a group of 40 authors to pen a collection of stories featuring unusual, unexpected & overlooked POVs to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Some great authors involved—Martha Wells, Mark Oshiro, Lillian Rivera, Kierston White, Karen Strong, Gary Whitta, Delilah Dawson, Mike Chen & many more. Out in November.
I‘d be lying if I said I didn‘t enjoy the whispers of surprise when I walked onto the scene. That‘s right, boys. Fett‘s here. Do me a favor and fall to the side after you‘re hit. I really don‘t want to trip over your idiot corpses once the shooting start. Sorry, if the shooting starts. No reason to get excited yet. (Boba Fett) #StarWars

This is a favorite because it‘s literally four pages of Boba Fett‘s inner monologue of him berating Solo and Chewie while Jabba talks with them. It does a really nice job getting in his head. #StarWars

Spending the entire week Star Wars week. Since May the 4th be with you was Monday. I love these short stories form the views of these characters that were there through A New Hope through Return of the Jedi #starwars

This is an entertaining collection of stories, it is even more fun to listen on Audio since the narration has basically a full-cast of voices and sound effects. Some of the stories are too short and some are too long because I found them so annoying and one of them is in verse and I don't really like that sort of thing. But all in all, I really enjoyed most of them.

Today‘s adventure in #audioworking - two super lazy coworkers (I think they are over me being home all the time, lol) and a really fun audiobook for #workingfromhome #catsoflitsy
How‘s Wednesday treating everyone?
It's always interesting reading short stories by a wide variety of authors. I enjoyed about half of them and thought quite a few were bordering on ridiculous. It was fun seeing stories about background characters and learning more about some species in the Star Wars universe.

This is the greatest story to begin the book with. We all know how Princess Leia replies. Also, in a Star Wars phase between the original trilogy running on tv with the new one out this weekend -Rise of Skywalker. I‘m a bigger fan of the first story‘s by George Lucas and older music by John Williams (you know you hear the Imperial March now). How did the background characters react to the war between the empire and the resistance?

1. Tagged. The perfect book for all SW fans.
2. Kev or just K...I had a girlfriend who called me Special K, but that's another story 🤣🤣🤣
3. Caesar Salad
4. 20% coupon for BAM, so bookstore visit followed by a movie maybe, Hobbs & Shaw or Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Working Saturday & Sunday.
5. Sadly, only 1
#friyayintro @howjessreads

One of my favorite reads of 2019. It felt like I was watching Star Wars: A New Hope for the first time. In fact I stopped midway through the book to rewatch Episode IV for the first time this year (I do an annual original trilogy watch), just to enjoy how much the book synced up with the movie. 5 💥💥💥💥💥 out of 5. A Must Read for all Star Wars fans.

Loved loved this book. The best story was the last one. Basically its stories told by different characters from A New Hope. The stories are also told in chronological order based on the movie. I liked how they also added characters in that were not in the original movie.
4 stars.

Got this for Nnedi Okorafor, stayed because my boys are crazed Star Wars fans. Enjoyed most of it more than I thought, though they beat some plot points to death (namely Han shooting that blue-bounty-hunter-guy #biggestfan 😉). Nnedi‘s was definitely my favorite. #Mordecaireads #audiobook

I stretched out these short stories for as long as I possibly could, but I‘ve come to the end! I really enjoyed these shorts from a great group of authors all from the POV of various side characters in the original movie. I only have one question, are they going to do this for Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi because I‘d buy that!
#StarWarsBuddyRead

Well...the vote is going well @InLibrisVeritas ...7 votes, all for different books LOL. Hopefully someone is planning on voting yet tomorrow...maybe🤷♀️

I'm normally not a big fan of anthologies, but the way this book is structured, where it retells the story of Episode IV from the perspective of the side characters, really tied it together and gave it a good sense of forward motion and excitement. I wasn't a fan of every story -- the cantina sequence really dragged on -- but for the most part it's gold with few duds. I hope they do the same for the 40th anniversary of ESB.

Book #5 (and what will most likely be my last book of @24in48) is beginning! #24in48 #starwars #shortstories

Aunt Beru‘s story. Some of these shorts from the other character‘s POV are just so great...especially those from characters you thought you knew, but didn‘t get to hear much from.
#StarWarsBuddyRead

Oh my...reading Claudia Gray‘s Master and Apprentice short story, her novel coming out this year by the same name is going to be really good.
#StarWarsBuddyRead

Man, I really loved this book. Even the stories that weren't necessarily my cup of tea, I still enjoyed. So many gifted writers in this collection. I really hope they do this for Empire and Jedi!

Also counts towards #MountTBR2019 (2/36)

Spending my day off under a blanket, reading this pretty excellent collection of Star Wars short stories. #starwarsbuddyread
