so-soJedi Knight Mace Windu gets involved with a smuggler who claims to have the formula for a new, improved Coaxium hyperdrive fuel. Decent art and a good start, but too many hanging threads to really recommend. If they continue the series, there are some interesting places the story can go, especially with his grim, suspicious demeanor in the movies contrasting with this more loose and open portrayal.

pickThis was a fun read. Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon aren't really getting along. So when Obi-Wan finds Orla Jareni's note about a mysterious planet in the Jedi archives, he wants to go explore it. Qui-Gon agrees but then doesn't show up to leave, so Obi-Wan breaks the rules & goes on his own. There, he finds a bunch of kids struggling to survive on their own.

bailedI had been listening to this as background noise, and realized that I have zero interest in the plot. Cal is an emotionally immature, whiny punk, instead of a budding, confident Jedi. Merrin is an insecure, pining schoolgirl, instead of a powerful, self-assured Nightsister with whom trust needs to be earned. And the whole thing is weirdly horny; not that romance is not welcome, but it is too much a focus for how poorly it is developed.
pickWow, wow, wow. I was looking forward reading this book with #StarWarsBuddyRead, but mostly thought it was going to be a nice adventure with young Obi-Wan. Well, I got this, obviously, but so, so much more! The way White portraits this troubled Padawan was so relatable, I was thrown back into my own teen years. I connected on a whole new level with Obi-Wan.

so-soIt's not a terrible idea to stitch together the prequels with the sequels by sending Vader to Exegol, but there's nothing particularly interesting about this story. The art is equally meh.
