This series is so cute. I think I might have enjoyed this one a little bit more than A Boy Called Christmas. Some parts of it were a little slow, but they are short so you can get past them quickly.

megnews I love this series too and I felt the same about the second book. I loved all the little cameo appearances. 4mo

4⭐️ An excellent follow up to A Boy Called Christmas and equally as entertaining as the first book. I felt that it dragged a wee little bit towards the end but it was still a fun and enjoyable read. #2021 #bookreview #bookstagram #christmasstories #fiction #middlegrade #victorianera #mistletoemaniacs #wintergames2021 #averymerryreadathon +41pts

I read this before the Boy Called Christmas, but it didn't distract from the magic! Definitely a book to share with kids (especially the peeing powers of Blitzen) and a good book to gift them for some Jolablokaflod reading!

I really enjoyed the second book in this Christmas series by Matt Haig. It takes place many years after A Boy Called Christmas, when Nikolas is an adult Santa Claus. I think I liked this one even better than the first. I hope Netflix decides to turn this book into a movie, as well.

The 2nd book in the series and it starts right where “A Boy Called Christmas” ended. Amelia believes in magic more than anyone, but then something happens that makes it hard for her to believe. But Father Christmas needs her to believe to save Christmas, to stop time and fly to deliver presents to all the kids.

I‘ve finished Samlede Verker
I read Snømannens jul, A Boy Called Christmas and The Girl who Saved Christmas.

I‘m still reading my advent calendar books.
And I‘m almost done with the book on octopuses.

Update on the chess: The winner is the one that first reaches 7,5 points and Magnus Carlsen did that yesterday and won his 5th championship title in the classical chess.

With cameo appearances by Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria & Prince Albert, and the Loch Ness monster, as well as the wonderful, magic-filled world of Elfhelm, this sequel does not disappoint. I‘m looking forward to the others in the series.

I finally know how Santa delivers all those presents in one night!!!

This author has the best imagination. The world he creates is magical and coming up with an explanation to the age-old question of how Santa delivers the world over in one night is no easy feat!

Deifio So Santa has a time machine? Or at least a time stopping machine? Cool! 😍 2y

Great sequel to “A Boy Named Christmas”. We get to know Elfheim better and learn that Christmas is in danger but we also get to know young and fierce Amelia, another likeable protagonist who has many similarities with Nikolas from the first novel. There is more than one perspective this time which makes the book more suspenseful and there is sort of an “Elf-Troll-crime-story” 😄. There are also some fun jokes for adults (Queen Victoria & India xD)

LaLecture Fun Fact: When I just googled the English names for the magical beings I realised that in German, the pixies are called “Elfen” (elves) while the Elves are called “Wichtel”. Really confusing 😂. (edited) 3y

Buechersuechtling Is this (kind of) Volume 2 of “A Boy Called Christmas”❓🤔 3y
LaLecture @Buechersuechtling It is. All three books are loosely based on each other (the girl in book 2 ist the one Father Christmas visits at the end of book 1) but can be read separately too. “Father Christmas and Me” is book 3. 3y
Buechersuechtling @LaLecture Oh, I didn‘t know that and forwarded this info right away to my friend who just read book 1 shortly before Christmas. 3y

#ShadowCat is happy with his new scratch board. He has drooled on it three times since I unwrapped it for the cats. 😁

We played board/card games last night. My kids wanted to stay up and wait for Santa, but they were soooo tired. 😁

By the way, the chicken was superb!

I'm wearing my HP sweater, but the kids don't want to. 😑

I seem to be on a semi-Litsy hiatus. I‘ve had no time for anything lately! 😭 I am putting all other current reads on hold now, otherwise I‘ll never get up to Christmas books at this rate! Starting this one, but I only have 10 minutes.

Also, hello new people who keep randomly friending me! I have no idea how you‘re finding me when I‘ve been an ultimate Litsy slug for the past couple of months, but it is an honor to be your friend!

Bklover Welcome back! There was a Litsy update that changes how people are suggested as friends to new users. It changes daily based on posts and replies (not litfluence). Quite a few of us have lots of new Litsy friends! 3y
hgrimes @Bklover Ohh! Thank you! I was worried Litsy had been taken over by bots at first when I opened my app the other day and had a sudden flurry of friend adds when I haven‘t been active, but then everyone looked legit! 3y

Mehso-so

I picked up this book not realizing it was a sequel, so I was a little confused at first. Overall the story was good, but it took some strange turns. It was basically two different stories -- one about the titular girl, and the other about drama with trolls and pixies at the. North pole. I was into the "real world" story, but never got into the "magic" story. Having read the first book now I understand why it was like it was, but found it so-so.
