Had to bail on this one. Just not my taste or at minimum not working for me right now.
I loved this fun book! It was a great change! Of course some of the plot was implausible, but I really enjoyed it! Can‘t wait to read book #2! I wonder what Finlay and Vero will be up to this time!! The ending made me want to buy it now, but I‘m going to let it get a little cheaper!

This was fun. Ridiculous and not realistic, but that's what I want sometimes 😀
Oh my! This fresh spin on a murder mystery was so much fun! Finlay Donovan is down to earth, smart, and relatable. I found myself rooting for her from page one. Fast, action packed, and funny dark comedy/mystery with a touch of romance and a large serving of grrl power. I‘m starting book 2 today!

❌No to marking in books!! I don‘t even know if I could!! Sometimes I use the sticky tabs 🏷
I almost ditched this mystery twice, but I am glad I kept going. The ending had me wanting to read the next in the series. Finlay is a single mom and struggling author who is mistaken for a hired killer. Twice the plot became so implausible that I came close to not finishing. I enjoyed the characters and the madcap tone, so I kept going. This is great fun as long as you can suspend your disbelief.
It‘s a widely known fact that most moms are ready to kill someone by eight thirty am on any given morning. 😂
I think this book is what I need right now! Laughing from the beginning 🤪

A solid fast paced crime and women lead story. What a ride!! It had it all with sophisticated plot twists with a back drop of a down to earth Finely Donavan, a a regular mother/gilded wife/reliable friend/romantic partner who is struggling as a new single mom and author. The cheeky approach to regular life and a surprising series of adventures kept this plot racing. Easy to read and engaging.
This was really reminiscent of the early Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. It‘s funny and light and so completely ridiculous.
4.5⭐️ I loved this book. It was the perfect mix of humor and mystery. I listened to the audio for this and found myself laughing out loud so many times. Reminded me of the Stephanie Plum series but not as fluffy. Highly recommend
OMG, y‘all this book is so good. Finlay is a character all moms will totally relate to I swear. A struggling writer, newly divorced and behind on her deadline. She meets with her agent and one misunderstood conversation later, Finlay finds herself as a contract killer. With laughs and quirky characters aplenty this is a read I‘m glad I picked up. Off to read the next book in this series. #springread #impulseread
This book has an outlandish plot, but a likable MC and an ancillary character (ex-husband‘s girlfriend) you love to hate makes this an enjoyable listen. I honestly wasn‘t sure about reading book #2 and then there was the Epilogue. What a great hook for the next book! I‘m all in!!!
This was just the light and amusing read I needed. Finlay is an amusing and engaging character, although she‘s a bit of a mess. I love how she grows and becomes more confident. Last day at the beach. #audiowalk
Oh, this was a nice distraction! A zany misadventure with a recently divorced mom of young children “killing it” in more than one way! I can see why this is getting so much love and I‘m glad I gave it a go even though the description didn‘t really appeal to me. I see the comparisons to the Stephanie Plum series and though that‘s not my jam, this one worked for me! There seems to be more meat here and I can see it being a movie.
We are at the beach for my birthday, and it‘s so beautiful outside. That‘s my husband in the wheelchair, taking a short walk by himself. It was difficult for me to let him go off like that, but he said he could do it, and he did. #audiowalk
This book is so much fun! It's certainly not probable (almost in the vein of a slapstick Melissa McCarthy-style action/comedy movie). Mistaken identity meets murder for hire with a comedic twist. My advice would be to just suspend disbelief and enjoy 😂
1: I‘ve enjoyed buddy reads. I‘ve read several books that I‘ve enjoyed that way but might not have gotten to otherwise, including Moby Dick.
2: All kinds. I‘ve participated in #SheSaid and done some fiction ones as well.
3: The Duke and I; Finley Donovan is Killing It, and Know My Name.

There were some hilarious scenes and this was overall fun & light read. This maybe wasn't the most believable story but was so enjoyable and entertaining that I didn't care. I can say I really loved this book!
Finlay was also somehow so likable character even though it seemed like things just happened to her.

My #BookSpin and #DoubleBookSpin for April ☁️
The queen of true crime, Ann Rule is first and then going to dig into Finlay Donovan — heard some great things about it!!
Sorry to brag, but I'm going on a lot of dates 🙃💖📚
I opened up the top left one and it's the tagged book. 😎
With a delightfully outlandish premise — a struggling author gets mistaken for a hired gun, then a mystery of murders and mobsters ensues — this was a fast, fun read.
Have already put the sequel on hold at the library.
Darkly humorous crazy murder comedy - enjoyable, entertaining, breezy read with great characters :) That ENDING!
Loved this! I watched several raves on booktube and it lived up to the hype for me. A slightly screwball mystery comedy that reminds me of Janet Evanovich with much less annoying characters. I immediately put book 2 on hold from the library! 5⭐️

Cozy reading with my peeps on a wintry day! We don‘t get many in Texas so when it is icy, the world shuts down!
I‘m in a funk.
There‘s a position at work that‘s come available that I NEVER thought would be open. It‘s a dream. And I‘m not eligible for it. I‘m processing it as a loss, going through the stages of grief.
With all of the excitement of the blizzard we‘re getting this weekend, I should be filled with complicated (yet suppressed) New England glee! Such a shame. All this to say: I‘m setting down my current (tagged) read. I need pure escapism.
I loved this funny, light, mysterious read! Finlay Donovan is a single mom and author who is in danger of losing her book deal as she's months behind on her deadlines. She meets with her agent at Panera to talk it through and a desperate woman at the next table misinterprets the conversation and hires her as a hit woman! Finlay finds herself in the world of crime & mobsters, all while trying to hold onto her kids and love life. Excited for book 2!
If I had been wearing pearls when I start reading this book, I would have clutched them. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#finlay-donovan-is-killing-it
OMG OMG OMG First book of 2022 and I already know this is the book I‘ll be recommending to EVERYONE this year!!! Thank goodness the second book comes out soon!
Finlay‘s story was so sexy, suspenseful, and sublime! Loved the characters and all of the twists and turns. She felt like such a real person, balancing single motherhood and her career, just put into a very out-of-the-ordinary situation!
THANK YOU @SeaToSkyes !! #NewYearWhoDis #NYWD22
Just finished and I think this may be my favorite fiction read of the year.
Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
I‘m trying to not show the same books I featured in my top 21. Here is my favorite read of April. This book was a lot of fun and great on audio.

I had trouble with this book. I listened to the story via audiobook. I did like the narrator, but didn‘t find any of the characters especially likable. I also didn‘t find the plot very believable. I kept listening out of curiosity to see what would happen at the end. I can‘t say the end was very surprising.
Very weird year for me when it comes to reading and I'm in a slump right now but these books still managed to wow me. Absolutely EVERYONE should read Finlay Donovan!
Great vacation read!
