This amazing book written by Rob Buyea, is one that children of 10-14 years should read. This book is all about how a group of people go to school, become friends, met an amazing teacher (Mr. Terupt) and solve their problems in school. In this book an unfortunate accident happens due to which Terupt reaches in the hospital.

Erinehart #ucflae3414f19 First Day Jitters is an adorable RF children‘s PB written by Julie Danneberg. It's about a teacher who just doesn't want to go in for her first day of school. While reading this, you don't know it's referring to a teachers until the very last page. I think this book would be great for a RA on the first day of school for a class k-3 to calm the students nerves. (edited) 1w
Erinehart https://www.weareteachers.com/first-day-jitters-activities/ this website is a great resource for different activities relating to the first day of school that would go great with this book. 1w
Erinehart A UDL strategy that I found would be great for this text is 1.1 “Offer ways of customizing the display of information .“
A ESOL that would work with this text is #14 “Simplify your speech by making it slower and redundant“. This is very important for RA, because without the students actually seeing the text it is important as the teacher that you are delivering it in a way they can understand.

“it was not any ordinary sandwich where meat is slapped between slices of tasteless white American bread. This bread was dark and thick baked by an Italian mother in Brooklyn... Petey said, yo, teacher, that‘s my sandwich you et. Class told him, Shaddap. Can‘t you see the teacher is eating?... My students smiled til they saw the principal‘s face framed in the door window. Bushy black eyebrows halfway up his forehead shaped a question.”

Buechersuechtling Oh yes, I remember I liked this one when I read it, which is years ago. 2w
DefLeppard Really enjoyed this series of books and some of the stuff his brother wrote. 😊 2w
Lifeisasnap @DefLeppard I didn‘t know his brother wrote books. I‘ll have to check them out. Thanks. (edited) 2w

Lifeisasnap @Buechersuechtling thanks. I‘ve never read it until now. I did enjoy Angela‘s Ashes which I think would be so hard to write being so close to his mother. 2w
DefLeppard Yes his brother Malachy has done a few, the one I read a little while ago was "A monk swimming." Totally different writing style to Frank, Malachy is more upbeat, happy go lucky and a "Jack the lad" type of character. 2w
Buechersuechtling @DeffLeppard Oh, me neither. But good to know. Thanks for letting us know. Like @Lifeisasnap I‘ll check them out. 2w

5/5 ?! I know nothing about lesson planning so I found this book extremely helpful. It doesn't just look at what you need to add to a paper but brings in elements I never thought were essential when teaching like the layout of a classroom and how to split up your time to make #teaching dynamic. It really looks at the start, middle, and "end" of planning #nonfiction Recommended for a beginning #teacher!

Ok this is the last TIL for this book!

#TIL that in order to be a good #teacher, you should have a good balance of the three 'models' of good #teaching - the charismatic model, the competency model, and the reflective model. Thinking back to some of my favorite teachers, I also agree with this. I was always that student that appreciated the stern teachers that were also fun in their own way xD #nonfiction

#TIL that when you become a #teacher, you need to take into account EVERYTHING. Including the layout of the classroom and seats and things like outlets. Butt recommends visiting your classroom before your first session to make sure everything is working (and if not, so you know what isn't working) and you can plan accordingly #nonfiction #teaching

#TIL that effective lesson planning also requires that a #teacher appropriately split up the lesson into time slots so that you don't run out of time or run out of a lesson! Butt gives some tips like having someone keep time, being firm about certain time caps, and splitting up lessons into relevant starters, bite sized middles, and effective closers that review the daily goals #nonfiction #teaching

I borrowed a ton of books last month and never read them. They're due soon and they're #nonfiction so I thought, what better time to read them 😂😂 First up is this one! Actually, the majority are #teaching and #teacher books 👀 I'm applying to a teaching job so yup! Here I go 🤓

I liked to use this book with middle-schoolers, lead a guided discussion, then distribute thank you cards/envelopes, so they could choose a person for whom they are thankful, and give or mail. Gratitude is a humbling and miraculous experience.
