I'm still not sure what to think of this graphic novel. It was strange, but also funny and I enjoyed the 80's culture. I'm interested enough that I will check put book 2. It's not one that I would share with middle grader though.
Read issues 1-10 of this delightful, action-packed, and smart graphic novel. I‘ve heard so much about this series and I understand why. #travelingreader
My tenth OWL Reading Challenge category! I met my goal of ten!! 🙌🏻 but it‘s so much fun I think I‘ll keep going because it‘s only October ☺️
POTIONS:
🌟Amortentia: a book with romance - Meet Me in the Margins
🌟Severus Snape: a book w page 394 - Diamond Eye
🌟Liquid Luck: choose a book randomly - Paper Girls vol 1.. visiting my bff and found it on her bookshelf!
Just finished watching the series last night on Prime so I thought I‘d give the comics a try 😌
This was a complete cover enticement & I had to know what all the hype was about. I liked the artistic style & color. The story took a little longer to enjoy. I was very confused for a good portion of the volume, probably just as lost as the Paper Girls. By the end I was warming to the characters & curious about the plot, especially when I hit the last page. I'm going to be continuing on to the next volume just to see what it has in store.
After binging the phenomenal new tv adaptation, I had to seek out the source material! It‘s the early hours after Halloween 1988–AKA Hell Day for Stony Stream‘s 4 paper delivery girls, who don‘t just encounter the annoying older teens they expect but warring time travelers, existential danger, and a trip to the future! The main characters are so lovable and well written—recommended for fans of Stranger Things for the 80s setting and sci-fi focus!
I don‘t read a lot of comics but, after watching the first few episodes of the tv adaptation and really enjoying it, I wanted to give them a try. I‘m glad I did! I‘ve only read the first installment but I just know I‘m going to like the rest. The casting is spot on with the drawings (at least the main girls) and I actually enjoyed seeing the differences from the show as must as the similarities. Really good concept. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Library haul!! I don‘t typically read graphic novels but I watched the first few episodes of the show version of Paper Girls and really liked it, so I thought why not!
This was fine. Its me, not the GN. YA time travel paper delivery girls plus the graphic novel genre, just not my jam. (I may try the adaptation anyway, as I bet I‘ll like it more in that medium.)
Thanks for the loan @Eyelit . I made it about halfway through the second book, but I don‘t think I‘ll finish them.
Totally had a Stranger Things feel. Curious to see where the story goes. Once I figured out that this was by the same author who wrote Saga, I could totally aspects of that story here too.
Colour me intrigued!
Loved the graphic novels and I love Ali Wong…
Coming July 29!!!
Paper Girls…Sandman…and let‘s not forget Ms. Marvel. It‘s a great time to be a fan of comics! Especially if you enjoy seeing how they are reinterpreted for the small (or large) screen.
I was intrigued by the premise of this graphic novel: a group of paper girls stumble upon a mystery of sci-fi epic proportions. I thought it was okay, but nothing super exciting. I think this first volume had to do a lot of set up and by the end seemed to get a lot of the basics explained. I'll read the next volume in the hopes that the story will pick up more finally.
Paper Girls and Purple tights 🥰💜
On to Volume 2...
(If I manage to finish The Reader on the 6.27 and these 3 volumes, I might still get a #bookspinbingo !)
This seems pieced together from all kinds of other stories, so I‘m curious to see if it gets more original in the next volumes.
Soundtrack: Fazerdaze - Morningside
I don‘t even know how to describe what I just read. That was some weird stuff. Paper routes, aliens, time travel? Not for me, I think.
I had no idea what to expect when I bought the book, but I loved the art, so I went for it. 10 pages in, I wasn‘t sure I‘d get in to it. By the end, I can‘t wait to get the next one! #graphicnovel
Gorgeously drawn, very weird, I loved this graphic novel and really want to continue the series. On Halloween night a group of paper girls stumble across what appears to be a time traveling alien invasion. There are prophetic dreams, spaceships, dinosaurs, storm troopers stealing your walkie talkies... there‘s A Lot.

I loved this time travel series that was filled with 80‘s nostalgia. The coloring and artwork was awesome as well,
Calling all fans of Paper Girls!!! I saw this on EW‘s Twitter yesterday and meant to post it but promptly forgot. Better late than never I suppose. Love this comic and am looking forward to seeing it on the small screen. 📺 🚲 🚀
Amazon has ordered a Paper Girls series! 😍

Loved this graphic novel! Great artwork and fun story. Can‘t wait to read the next one!
Need to return PAPER GIRLS to the library tomorrow, but haven't gotten to them yet. Time to binge read! 📚

I went into this knowing nothing about the story. My final thoughts were "damn man!"
I‘m at a comic book club meeting. I‘ll see how this goes. I‘ve at least read these and I‘m interested in reading more comics. Fingers crossed!
Interesting, feels very much like an 80‘s movie and I love the color palette but time travel is one of my least favourite story concepts.
And on the eighth night of Hanukkah my husband proves, once again, just how much he gets me. Love this comic and I‘m super excited to have a signed copy of Issue #1. Now I just need to decide where to hang it...
BAM had graphic novels and comics as buy 2 get 1 free today, so I bought all 6 volumes of Paper Girls. I‘ve only read the first 3 so far, so I look forward to finishing out the series!
My first graphic novel. I liked the illustrations and the multiple timeline story. I will definitely be continuing with the story if only because there was a lot going on in this first volume and I'm not sure I grasped the entire arc and storyline. If you enjoy action packed fast paced Sci Fi this is for you.
So it was one of those “what the...” books I have no clue what was going on. But it hooked me enough to keep trying to figure it out. :)

1 point participation + I honestly don‘t know. It‘s set like wee hours of Halloween, had some time travel but like dinosaur type monsters??? No idea how to point this one ... (sorry @TheReadingMermaid )
Ha! Many a wasted days for me playing Mario :)
This one is super good and pretty and just so weird. I should have picked up the other volumes while I was out ...

Sorry for the lack of updates! Yesterday was a very busy day and I tried to use whatever time I could squeeze in to get as much reading done as I could. So far I‘m at almost 17 hours which isn‘t too bad. I might actually make it to 24 by midnight!
I finished 2 graphic novels yesterday and I‘m most of the way through #triptychbuddyread along with a couple others I‘m hoping to finish today.

Finished this one yesterday. Started out really good and then it just turned weird. If can I find volume 2...
I haven‘t read too many graphic novels, so my review may be slightly skewed because of this. The art work and colors were intriguing and wonderful, but the story was kind of hard to follow. Despite that, I‘m probably going to put the second volume on request from the library because I want to see what happens next. Maybe just to figure it out? 🤪
What did I just read!? 😂😂😂
Ooo, how exciting! I‘m curious to see how the live-adaptation of this strange strange series turns out 🤔

Found some summer reads at the used bookstore. 🙌🏼 Can‘t wait to dig into these!
I was drawn to this simply because of its cover and was surprised by how sci-fi it was. A fun, fast story that somehow gets away with loads of strage plot twists. A must read for all #strangerthings fans!
Everytime I walk into my favorite bookstore I always see this book. I'm so glad I finally read the first volume. I loved all the 80s nostalgia and the graphics in the first volume. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
I‘m giving this a “pick” for now. We shall see if I readdress that after reading book two. The artwork is cool. The story jumps around quite a bit, but once you get used to it it‘s easy to follow.
Welp... what I thought was just allergies has turned into an illness of some sort... stuffy/runny nose (somehow at the same time!?), cough, chills and headache. Needless to say I called out of work today.
At least I have piles of books, a cosy bed, and all the tea I can stomach to soothe me! 🤒😷😨
The story was a slow start but picked up quickly! I can't wait to get to volume two.
