The foster who became a permanent, a big personality who wanted to be an only cat but slowly adapted to a cat family, Nacho ,who loved tortilla chips & attention , passed yesterday and my heart is broken.
Wow, Bosch books never fail, now I‘m all caught up. Ballard & Bosch have been working cold cases for a while , they work well together. Bosch is particularly intent on finding his white whale, a murderer evil enough to take out a whole family. Connelly is very good in describing how politics & appearances influence higher ups in policing. #seriesLove2024
From the moment I was deposited back into civilian life after the Trump inauguration, I felt compelled to get away from what was happening in America.

I get why this isn‘t for everyone. It is a bit different to have nonfiction intertwined with your fiction. I was drawn in and deeply moved by this novel. It is hard to describe. The writing is often beautiful, a great understanding of how humans navigate this life. A feeling of melancholy lingers. I had read the mixed reviews, I found it on the library shelves & decided to give it a try.
Lost a treasure this weekend. Rest in Power https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/04/14/style/faith-ringgold-death-tar-beach-quilts
#SpringSkies #OneWordTitle I‘ve posted the title page of this one before, but not the lovely exterior.
As I contemplate about how to approach a major sort of all the books , I saw this posted , I couldn‘t resist to see if there were copies left at Blackwell‘s , now it‘s mine ! Ba ha ha !
#serieslove2024 It may sound odd that on a bad health day ( nothing too serious) that one finds “ comfort “in a series with murders , rapes , gangs & etc. Yet Ballard is a great cop & her work with retired Harry Bosch is always interesting. Even the bad cops get their due now & then. It‘s hard to believe I‘m nearly up to date on the Bosch series. The reality of Covid was handled well in this book without overwhelming the story.Kudos to Connelly!
I read some of his books years ago , probably would get more out of them now , or not! 😊😢 https://www.npr.org/2024/04/03/1242508803/john-barth-novelist-author-obituary

A brilliant selection of poems , covers the inheritance of violence from Partition to our current age.Her take on being a Pakistani Muslim woman in America is challenging & interesting. Lyrical, modern, & historical all at the same time.
#ItTakesAllKinds #withVacation Mrs Maisel was a delightful show all around, I especially enjoyed the families visit to the Catskills! I‘ve read a lot about it in its heyday, nice to see it come to life on the screen.
#ItTakesAllKinds #BkmentionedInBk sometimes I think I was fortunate not to ever been assigned this book in school. I mean even though I loved reading, kids sometimes think the teacher is feeding you some life lesson you don‘t want to eat ! Any who, he had me at “all that David Copperfield kind of crap”

Happy Opening Day 2024 to all who celebrate!🎉 ⚾️
As I try to finish book 1 of #WhartonBuddyRead find myself thinking Edith was up to speed about Perry Baker who renamed himself Dr. Pierre Bernard bringing yoga to America. Lots of scandal & running from the law , criticism from clergy, etc. And was it sex cult? I‘m not sure, still on my TBR .
#ItTakesAllKinds #FoodOnCover A cookbook I‘ve had for years , a few recipes are favorites. I also always thought it had a lovely cover.
#ItTakesAllKinds #WithRain need to get to this one , been on my TBR since it was published! 😳😄
#ItTakesAllKinds #WithPhysician Dr. Wilbur Larch , a great character in a book loaded with great characters! 🍎Tom Tom looks on #CatsOfLitsy
#serieslove2024 I didn‘t read any Peter James last year so I thought it was high time to check one out again . Roy Grace is on the case of a rapist with a fetish for women in designer high heels .Roy wonders if there are more than one perpetrator and if it links back to an old case that was never solved . A Page Turner!
#ItTakesAllKinds #WithLawyer Still on my TBR. Darrow left the relatively normal career as a railroad lawyer to defend people most at the time would consider undesirables . Most would have heard of him as the lawyer defending John Scopes , the infamous monkey trial , about the teaching of evolution.
#TLT #ThreeListThursday In no particular order!
1. The World According to Garp- John Irving
2. The Catcher In The Rye - J.D. Salinger polarizing, yet I love it.
3.The Go Between - L.P. Hartley a bunch of us read it in the #NYRBBookclub a treasure , more people should discover it.
Everybody play!
#ItTakesAllKinds #WithMap gotta love a book with a map! I don‘t think even in my hiking prime I could walk this backbone trail of California, as the map indicates Colin Fletcher walked north from Yuma to Oregon from March 8th to September 8th. book was published in 1964, not sure what year he walked it.
I really dropped the ball on #serieslove2023 Never posted a summing up !This is a photo from January last year, I read 8 Connellys , 2, Leons , 1 Silva. Shocking but true, couldn‘t find the next Thompson though as you can see, I own several! I didn‘t put Karin Slaughter in these stacks ,yet I read 3 last year.😁🤷♀️ Thanks to @TheSpineView and @Andrew65 for hosting!
#ITTakesAllKinds #WithTherapist I remember first hearing this wonderful song by Nancy Tucker on the Dr. Demento show. (WOW,I‘m old) this is a lovely version!😄 https://youtu.be/jCwYve87iKA?si=e0unDp1WamJ-_6vO
#TuesdayTunes years ago, a friend of mine who knew I was feeling blue, sent me this tune. Still one I revisit when I want to dance around the room and feel fine!

When Marley & her capable single mom end up in a new town, the Joseph brothers gain her attention. They have a roofing company, are known all over town. Two brothers, both vie for her attention. A family story that has great characters , even the ones with flaws you root for. Marley longing for family, falls hard, not knowing the secrets of the past can make for problems down the road.A well written book looking at the complex lives of reg.people
#BookSerendipity Close to the end of Mercury, just starting Dead Like You , both have a character named Jade!
#TuesdayTunes many moons ago as the mix tape gave way to the CDMix , I put this live version of Lyle‘s You Can‘t Resist It on a seduction mix , it worked!😉 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DemInjXsYVU
I‘m not currently living in a super Tuesday state, just want to say get out & vote !
#ItTakesAllKinds #InspiredByTVorFilm 😁👏⚾️
Fun film! There‘s no crying in Baseball!
#ItTakesAllKinds #Roadtrip I think it said that they took these signs down in 1963 ,but at its height ,there were 7000 sets in 43 states. Fun car game to look for these on your travels back in the day.Found this little gem ,at the big book sale I went to a few weeks ago . Published in 1965. So six signs spread out a ways , you get a poem!
NO LADY LIKES——-TO DANCE——-OR DINE——ACCOMPANIED BY———A PORCUPINE ——-BURMA-SHAVE
#ItTakesAllKinds #FavoriteBookmark of course, couldn‘t pick just one!😁 These are both for that company Out Of Print , that makes fun bookish stuff .
A wonderful book about a person who is a talented writer, husband, & father who looks at the feminine version on face app & realizes who she was meant to be. Lucy recognizes her self repression, yet once the awareness comes she can only move in one direction. She wrote one of my favorite books of all time ,Low Life & lived through those wild NY downtown art scenes of the late 70s & 80s, while many perished in addiction or AIDS.A very moving book!
#TuesdayTunes A unusual song about San Francisco. It still makes me chuckle. I lived in San Francisco for awhile , left for a relationship not realizing that indeed San Francisco was my best boyfriend ever!
