Finally, my first “wow” book of the year! A dating app, but you are matched by your DNA so no need to faff about talking to loads of losers on Tinder 😂! There were so many twists and turns - thankfully I didn‘t get any funny looks at work from all the gasps 😄 Fantastic read 👍
I borrowed this thinking it was going to be a cosy romance and ended up getting another Eleanor Oliphant! Brilliant book but tough 😳
Thank you to @Birdsong28 , @kathedron , @kaysworld1 @squirrelbrain , @Oryx , and @youneverarrived for your cards ♥️ finally sent my stack out yesterday and realised I‘d completely forgotten to write the #jbuk tag as well as use the Litsy stickers from @squirrelbrain ! Oh well, they‘re written and posted 😂
Merry Christmas everyone 😁🎄💛
It took a lot of self-control not to open these earlier this week! Thank you so much @squirrelbrain , @Cathythoughts and @Caroline2 😁💛 ( @Cathythoughts I ate the bar straight away so didn‘t get a picture 😂)
I‘ve seen a lot of love on Litsy for this, and through BookBub I found that it‘s free on Kindle!
Here‘s a link to BookBub if you want more free books:
My latest YA Book Club Book is written completely in free verse so it only took a couple of hours to read 🙌 I thought I‘d struggle with this because I‘m not a fan of poetry but I loved it! Sometimes it was depressing, other times infuriating, sweet, heartbreaking - just beautiful 💛
Just realised I should have a pic of all three 🤦♀️😆
Came home today to find
📚library hold for Legendary ready to pick up
📚#penpalsbychance parcel from @Bronte_Chintz
📚#jbuk postcard from @squirrelbrain 🤗💛 thank you so much!
@Bronte_Chintz - I realised I didn‘t do an intro like you did, and just went straight into the story 🤦♀️😂 oops!
@squirrelbrain - I love Agatha Christie! That was so thoughtful 😊 I need to get some stationery!
Having a great time in Norwich 🤣
Anyone thinking of doing this? Saturday 4th August
I finally finished Bel Canto! It‘s all ready to send to you on Monday, @Bronte_Chintz 😊 it‘ll be interesting to see what you think - sorry in advance for my illegible scrawling! The bag looks a bit battered because I recycle bags I get from my bookmail 😂!
Preparing for my week in Norwich 😁 I know that for a lot of people the suitcases would be the other way round, but I tend to over-pack clothes and toiletries!
I‘ve heard there are LOADS of bookshops and charity shops in Norwich and I can‘t wait 💸💸💸
Loved this! Great world-building - so great that when I finished I had an “oh, it‘s not real” moment 😂😭! People compare this to Hunger Games but I think it‘s more like the Night Circus, minus the magic. I‘m happy but slightly annoyed that it‘s a series because I NEED the next one.
What an amazing idea for a giveaway! I‘ve loved reading everyone else‘s posts 😊
I‘ve struggled with this one but I‘ve realised that I‘m the only one in my family who:
Likes classical music
Goes to the dentist
Can touch nose with tongue
Is a feminist
Can quote all of Beauty and the Beast (1991 obvs)
I know this is an unpopular opinion, and I was going to make this a pick because I love reading fluff, but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it. The fact that Étienne had a girlfriend was an issue for me because of my own experience, and I didn‘t like the girl-hate thing with Ellie. Like it was fine for him to flirt with Anna because Ellie was a rubbish girlfriend? Anna particularly annoyed me with how she treated Bridge. ?
Congratulations to @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks , @Bronte_Chintz , and @LazyDays on winning my #bankholidaygiveaway!
Email me your addresses - email@example.com - and I‘ll send you one of your TBR books from Book Depository 😊
Thank you to everyone who participated!
As you can see, I didn‘t quite make it to 4k 😂 so this is just because it‘s the Bank Holiday and the weather‘s nice haha! Make a post including your favourite read of 2018 so far and what book(s) you‘re looking forward to reading. I‘ll pick three winners on May 13th and each will get a book from their TBR list. Open internationally. Good luck and happy weekend 🤗
Book 1 for the #4in48readathon finished! 🏳️🌈 beautiful story about a trans-girl who comes out to her family and friends - this should be required reading at school 😊
1. Reading (hopefully I will be able to complete four books in the #4in48readathon ). Also seeing family
3. How to Stop Time and All the Bright Places
4. Discovering a gem of a podcast called My Dad Wrote a Porno #pomegranates
5. Anyone who hasn‘t done so already 😊
Here are my 4 books for the #4in48readathon - yes I cheated and picked short books but I‘ve got a family bbq tomorrow. I may have to start at midnight 📚🧟♀️
So that was a massive gut-punch! A lot of emotions with this one. Wow.
Sorry not sorry for the descriptive review 😂 still recovering
Thank you for the tag, @hes7 😁
1. Book: Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, Series: The Hunger Games
2. Popcorn - pre-Slimming World I would have put so much more 😂
3. The Office US, Parks and Rec, Power, Bob‘s Burgers, Gilmore Girls
Read in a day, wahey! So glad this was on @hes7 ‘s #freakyfriday list, I‘ve been meaning to read it since seeing the film. I do love utopian/dystopian novels and this one didn‘t disappoint! Lost of questions raised about freedom of choice and the idea of living in comfort rather than feeling happiness or pain. I‘d recommend this to anyone.
I can‘t stop listening to this soundtrack 😍 love this story - it‘s definitely my favourite book and film of 2018 💛 anyone else obsessed?
I‘m sorry, @hes7 ! It‘s not you, it‘s me - I struggled with all the action a bit, I think. I have every confidence in the rest of your list 😄
I thought I‘d try to recreate the look of your posts with my own blanket haha 🤦♀️😂
I adore St Bernards so for me this was just an excuse to post a pic of one 😁 for a future pet name I‘d choose Holling. St Bernards are described as “loving, gentle, and eager to please” and Holling does spend most of the book trying to please everyone he knows. And he‘s sweet. Just look at that tongue - and the drool!
Another pick from my #freakyfriday list! Fun YA retelling of Much Ado about Nothing full of geeky references (most of which went over my head 😂).
I‘m going to be honest, @hes7 : I wasn‘t looking forward to reading this. The cover and blurb do nothing. However, I went for it, and bloodyhell I‘m so glad I did! Holling Hoodhood (what a name!) learns life lessons through his family, friends, Shakespeare, and his amazing teacher Mrs Baker. At times laugh-out-loud hilarious and other times tender and heartwarming, this book is just wow 💛 thank you for the #freakyfriday recommendation
Managed to finish three brilliant books in three days! I‘m not a gamer so I was wary of RPO but I was immediately hooked and I can‘t wait for the film. Eleanor was an incredible story with an amazing character but I regret reading it straight after RPO because it was a bit too real for me. Lastly Simon was amazing and I stayed up way past my bedtime last night so I could find out who Blue was. It was so cute and just what I needed after Eleanor 😊
Avoid Amazon. They‘ve got a kindle spring sale with hundreds of books for 99p. Oops 😭
