Posting this purely for accountability because I‘m determined to finish it! I‘m enjoying it so far - I was pleasantly surprised by how accessible it is. #motivation #chunkster #accountability

Cuuuuuuute. And so relevant.

I do want to mention that I think the cartoon covers in romance has come to signal that it's a rom-com, and this doesn't have much comedy. Maybe some whimsy. But it's still lovely. 💕

“It‘s better to be one who is told to wait than be one who waits to be told.” P. 88
(This was NOT something encouraged me when a child. Far far safer to hide and read a book... Hard for me as an adult to DO rather than wait. Eek.)

violabrain Sorry, that posted before I was done! Most important book I've ever read. That and 6y
ItsAngel @Mdargusch probably Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah or The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans. 6y
See All 31 Comments
DivaDiane The Lathe of Heaven or A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin. Because I want everyone to experience her work. These are 2 great entry books. 6y
GatheringBooks depends really on the interest of the reader, i try to sense where they are at, and what they like, and go from there. but that being said, a few of the titles i strongly recommended are a monster calls, a little life by hanya yanagihara (so i can share my trauma), and tiny beautiful things - dear sugar. :) 6y
Pamwurtzler It depends on the person, but probably 6y
alisiakae Recent: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Non-fiction: Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Classic: The Handmaid‘s Tale by Margaret Atwood 6y
Kalalalatja I have recommended Robin Hobb so much recently! 6y
Jess7 Oh me it varies based on genre they‘re interested in, but probably this one more than any of them: 6y
cathysaid Probably Kent Haruf / Plainsong or A Little Life if they want a chunkster. 6y
emilyhaldi Good question! 😄 I bet this is one of my top recommendations... sorry that‘s not helpful to you 😆 6y
Mdargusch And that‘s why I read that book! @emilyhaldi 6y
EvieBee Usually THE GLASS CASTLE with a BRAIN ON FIRE chaser. 6y
RebelReader Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Blind Your Ponies by Stanley Gordon West 6y
LibrarianRyan Depends on what type of reader they are. And what gents they usually like. 6y
batsy Usually I get very nervous about recommending 😆 But on a general level of readers looking for a good read, it's I Capture the Castle. And lately I've been recommending Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer a lot. 6y
MelanieMefford A Man Called Ove, Heart‘s Invisible Furies lately, Glass Castle, The Kitchen House 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Lately I've been recommending a lot of Liane Moriarty. She's great plot twists/surprise endings. I'm also trying to (gently) push reading on my non reader friends 😂, so she's my go to for that. I've also been recommending The Fifth Season!! Sci-fi Fantasy, and it's a brilliant trilogy. 6y
mrp27 Anything by Isabel Allende, Amy Tan, or John Boyne. 6y
Sjsherwood Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. 6y
Reviewsbylola That‘s so tough because I think it depends on the person you‘re recommending to. 6y
Reviewsbylola Although I will say I recommend Peter Swanson and Tana French a lot. And Jojo Moyes is a go to for me a lot of the time for non readers. 6y

@Abby-J I have a few questions for the potterhead swap! 1. Do you already use coloring books? 2. Do you prefer markers, pencils, or crayons? 3. Who are your three favorite HP characters?

Abby-J I love these questions! I have coloring books and colored pencils, but no Harry Potter coloring books. I‘m a nanny, so I also have a lot crayons, but they are often manhandled. I like pencils, markers, and crayons with equal affection. Hermione is my favorite character (because of course she is). She‘s closely followed by Neville (because he tries so hard) and Lupin (because he‘s so patient). I also like Ron. This so hard to narrow down. 6y
Abby-J I have questions for you, too. 1. Do you wear jewelry? 2. Do you have any food allergies? 3. And who are your favorite witches and wizards? 🧙🏻‍♀️🧙🏻‍♂️ 6y
Abby-J Oh and also do you have a favorite magical creature? 6y
Craftylikefox @abby-j Ithanks for getting back to me so quickly! I wear bracelets and necklaces. I am allergic to dairy, no cheese for me 😔 Some of my favorites are Lupin( because he‘s patient and sweet and also a werewolf) Luna( because she has no problem being her sweet weird self) Hermione (smart and strong) Tonks (metamorphmagus, awesome character) 6y
Craftylikefox @Abby-J my favorite magical creature would be bowtruckles, I love the sweet little plant creatures 😍 6y

Hey all! So, I've got a couple Litsy questions.....

How do I participate in the photo challenges? I want to do the February one but I'm not sure how to go about it...

Also, how do I repost the *text* from another Litten's post?

Thanks you all! Have fun on the second day of your #24in48!

Jabberwocky Re photo challenges all you have to do is post a picture or a book/bookish thing that the prompt reminds you of. Then you hashtag the name of the challenge and sometimes tag the person ‘hosting‘ the challenge 6y
josie281 You can just join in to any photo challenge! Just use the correct hashtags and tag the people leading the challenge. 6y
josie281 😂 @Jabberwocky we match 6y

Jabberwocky And as for re posting most of us screen shot the post and then crop it down on your phone and then post that cropped picture 6y
josie281 To use the text from another persons post, I don‘t think you can. I screenshot the post and then type the text into my notepad then repost. This is helpful for photo challenges when you use a lot of the same tags. 6y
Jess7 They correctly explained it. I have one going on Called #ReadingResolutions and you‘re welcome to participate for both January and February! 6y
SamHeartCoffee Thanks, @Jess7 ! (edited) 6y
BookishMe @Jabberwocky @josie281 how do you tag people?? I can't seem to find the tag feature / button anywhere ;O 6y
BookishMe @SamHeartCoffee hope you've enjoyed your first month here... ;D 6y
SamHeartCoffee @BookishMe it has been super fun! 😁👍🏻👏🏻 6y
BookishMe @SamHeartCoffee true true... It's now more Litsy than Goodreads for me ;p 6y
Avanders @BookishMe to tag someone, just type the ampersand symbol (@) before their name. @SamHeartCoffee to copy text w an iPhone (can't speak for other phones), if you double-tap on the text on their post, it should bring up the select option. .. let me know if you need help. ☺️ 6y
SamHeartCoffee Thanks @Avanders! Gave that a try and it works great. 6y
Avanders Yay! 👏🏽👏🏽 6y
BookishMe @Avanders thanks. Apparently there's an option to tag people as well when posting. My Android only has 2 options for now ;)) 6y
