⭐ ⭐ ⭐Three cheers to @zezeki for completing #ChunksterChallenge2022! It took TWO YEARS to get through it -- she started it for #ChunksterChallenge2021 but lost steam, so she tackled it again this year. And finished! AND she enjoyed it! I'm so proud of you. This is the very definition of persistence. Hooray! ⭐

And I'm finished ‼ @Amiable

Switched between Print and Audible. Occasionally taking a break and then catching up. In November Audible released a new Free to Members Edition narrated by Thandiwe Newton. She has such a beautiful voice and really brought the story to life. After that I stuck with audio. Except today when I sat and read the last Chapter.

Crinoline_Laphroaig Could I pass a Test or Write a Dissertation on it? Absolutely not. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig While I still can't call characters by name, I recognize them by their characteristics and storyline. I think I would have to read again or maybe 3rd time for it all to sink in. And unlike Anna Karenina which I hated (Whiny Rich People who happened to be Russian) I could see myself reading War and Peace again. Maybe over some long cold winter. So I'm putting my beautiful Clothbound Classic back on my Forever Shelf for the time being. ⬇️
Crinoline_Laphroaig Things that surprise me:

Structure. Part 1, Book 2, Chapter 3??? But then some Editions just went simply in numerical order. Made it confusing when trying to change from Audio to Print or vice versa. Especially because different translations would phrase sentences differently.⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig The last short chapter of the 2nd Epilogue, yes there were 2, was all about Philosophy, I think. Honestly I didn't understand a lot of it. Maybe it's too early in the morning or I need more tea. I really should have gotten some Russian Caravan tea for this readalong. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig Long passages that weren't Fictional story but historians discussions of strategies of Napoleon. There was a lot about the Battle of Borodino. Which always reminded me of Chandelier scene from What a Girl Wants movie with Colin Firth and Amanda Bynes. 🤓

Because no month is quite complete without a pretty map, here‘s my year around the world in books.

I read 30 for #ReadingAsia2021, which isn‘t too shoddy, attempted a decent number of my #readaroundtheworld books, and finished my #chunksterchallenge2021. The rest of my challenges fell by the wayside a bit.

However, I did also manage to finish an acceptable number of #buddyreads (ie more than ever before!) & #gladstonerds bookclub reads.

rockpools For 2022, I‘m cutting right back on the challenges and going for a no-pressure reading year, aiming for 12 books from #readaroundtheworld, 10 books from #ReadingAfrica2022, #Gladstonerds and a looseygoosey approach to #bookspin!

My reading goals (in reverse order) are:
- track with StoryGraph
- No more than 3 books at any time
- No stress. Enjoy it!

rockpools Happy New Year and Happy Reading! 📚🥂📚🎉📚 11mo
Librarybelle Yay! The maps looks great, with lots of good reading in 2021! And, it sounds like you have a good plan for 2022 😁 11mo

rockpools @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB Thank you for running these challenges- they‘ve really pushed me to find books from the smaller countries, and I‘ve loved seeing what everyone else is reading. 11mo
TrishB Happy new year- I love the no more than 3 books! 11mo
rockpools @TrishB I feel you might find that easier than I do! 11mo
BarbaraBB Well done and you are very welcome. On to Africa! 11mo
squirrelbrain I like the no stress goal… I tried not to sign up to so many challenges this year but…. 🤷‍♀️ Actually so far I‘m only doing #newyearwhodis and #booked2022 so not so bad (yet!) 11mo
Nute Wow! That‘s very impressive! I feel that the activity of reading needs to be non-stressful in order to be enjoyable. Here‘s to fun reading experiences in 2022! Happy New Year, Rachel!💜🥳💜 11mo
Megabooks Great job Rachel! 11mo
rockpools @Megabooks Thanks Meg - and happy new year! 11mo
rockpools @Nute I got a bit tangled up in trying to get through stuff, rather than enjoying the ride this year, so… Happy New Year to you as well Kimberley, and I hope your reading is relaxing and inspiring. 11mo
rockpools @squirrelbrain That sounds about right 🤷🏻‍♀️. What are we like?! There are so many AMAZING challenges- but only 24 hours in the day. My aim is to be in such a Zen space by November that I can sign up to NYWD again! 11mo
rockpools @BarbaraBB Very excited for these. We‘ve been following a YouTuber on her travels around Southern Africa this year, so I have images of the landscapes in my head. Looking forward to words and people to go with them 😊 11mo

I started this in January, then hit a major reading slump, and with the help of this tracker, have just finished the ultimate chunkster at 1,474 pages, with days to spare! This wasn‘t always the easiest read or a page turner, but you can‘t help but get invested. I learned so much about India, and am so glad I read this. I was even disappointed at the end, wanting to know how Lata‘s life plays out. #chunksterchallenge2021

Bklover Congratulations!!! Good grief you picked a big one- maybe one of these days! Love your chart! I‘d love to know what the different colors are! (edited) 11mo
EvieBee Wow! What an achievement! 🎉 Great little tracker. 11mo
Amiable YAY!! This is awesome! I loved this book and felt the same way at the end! Seth was supposed to be working on the sequel (“A Suitable Girl“) but I haven't heard anything more about when or if that will be completed. 11mo

rockpools Yay! Congratulations 🥳🎉💃🏻🕺🏽 11mo
JamieArc @Bklover Thanks! And the colors hold no meaning. It was whichever pen was closest to me when I finished those chapters. 11mo
JamieArc @Amiable I wondered if there was/would be a sequel. It was set up for it, with the mother telling her son he was next, to find a suitable girl. I‘ll have to do some research on it. 11mo

#chunksterchallenge2021 Quarter 4 book is complete. I loved this one...The characters will stay with me for a long, long time. I laughed, I cried, I was angry, and I was scared, and I can‘t wait for @Kelly326 to finish so we can watch the movie.

Thank you so much for hosting, @Amiable I can‘t wait to participate in the Chunkster Challenge in 2022!

Kelly326 I finished and agree with you completely. Bring on movie day!! 🍿 12mo
Amiable Yay! Do you think you'll go on and read the other books in the series? I think I'm OK with stopping here. 12mo
rockpools Yay! Congratulations 🥳! This is on my ‘one day‘ list… but seeing all the love for it this year makes me want to bring it forward a little! 12mo

GinaKButler @Amiable I‘m not sure...the way they were published is out of order, so I may go back and read the two prequels. I would love to hear Gus and Clara‘s story! 12mo
GinaKButler @rockpools Just loved it...and I didn‘t think I‘d really be interested in a western. I hope you enjoy it! 12mo
CoverToCoverGirl Congratulations! You‘ve convinced me! I‘ll try to round up a copy for 2022 12mo
