Not perfect, but I enjoyed the hell out of this. Perhaps because some of my more significant relationships started as friendships, I was rooting for opposites Poppy & Alex to hook up. We follow these unlikely best friends through their tumultuous "present" by exploring their relationship through various summer vacations of years past. A light & fun read, especially since I haven't really had any vacations in two years thanks to Covid.

Cinfhen I‘m looking forward to reading this book 📚 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I picked this up with BOTM book of the year. Ended up giving it to our college-age grande to read while she‘s on break. She‘s so excited! 2y

My final #Booked2021 book - #NewIn2021. Beautiful photos and an excellent narrative make this a wonderful book for anyone who loves dogs. The Flame trading card and postcard from Honest Dog Books are fun additions. #WinterGames2021 #TeamGameSleighers #AVeryMerryReadathon #WinterCosy #WrapItUpReadathon #Adventathon #AVeryMerryBingo @StayCurious @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @PuddleJumper @keys_on_fire @ozma.of.oz @Jadams1776

BarbaraBB Wow. 5⭐️ 2y
jenniferw88 @BarbaraBB if you're thing of doing next year 's #52Booksin52Weeks it would definitely work for the 'set on at least two different continents' prompt. I'm using it for this year's 'dual timeline' prompt. 2y

BarbaraBB Thanks, that‘s a good suggestion. I read this one for dual timeline 2y
BarbaraBB For next year‘s two continents prompt (as well as for #ReadingAfrica2022) I‘ve been thinking of 2y
BarbaraBB That one sounds good too. I love tripling up! 2y

I am a life-long Stephen King fan and his books are my comfort food. This one checked all the boxes for me - creepy, engaging, and great characterization. No one writes kids like SK can. I hope he comes back and revisit Jaime Conklin in future books.

Cinfhen I never got into SK books but I‘m always impressed by his legions of fans who swear by his deliverance. He doesn‘t seem to disappoint 😁🙌🏻 2y

October 24 and I‘m finally in to my October reviews.

This was my first audiobook of the month, and it was awesome. Definitely leans more fantasy (EPIC fantasy) than horror, but obviously, with vampires, and they are the scary/murdery variety, so there is gore. It‘s very dark, but also smart and witty—really put me in mind of Witcher at times. I was completely obsessed and devoured it quickly, and I cannot wait for the next one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

sprainedbrain Also, I am so happy to report that Jay Kristoff is one of those super talented guys who write fantasy books that aren‘t masochistic or misogynistic, so I wasn‘t the least bit annoyed with how quickly I fell in lust with Gabriel. 😂 And the audiobook narration is excellent. Also, my #NewIn2021 book for #Booked2021. (edited) 2y
KristiAhlers I LOVED this book. I was so useless when I was reading. 😂🧡❤️ 2y

A fast paced, intense novella about the assassination of David Rizzio, Private Secretary to Mary Queen of Scots. Full of intrigue, blood, and a healthy dose of wit. I needed to shake things up with something gripping and satisfying and this one totally fit the bill. Highly recommended!

This was a very atmospheric story capturing both the isolation and claustrophobia of life on a lighthouse in 1972 when the 3 inhabitants disappear without explanation. 20 yrs on a writer interviews their wives and slowly secrets emerge. A perfect story as the nights draw in and the air gets a little chillier.

Time for more of my groundbreaking "books on top of a microwave" series of photos.?

I am shocked - shocked! - that I enjoyed this as much as I did. Something in the audio description made me curious and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It's as if Dickens wrote fantasy with input from Mervyn Peake and Philip Pullman.
