I absolutely loved this book! I laughed, I cried, & I can‘t wait to watch the movie again because it‘s been a few years since I‘ve seen it. The movie is a fairly faithful adaptation. The characters in this book remind me how important it is to just be kind to people. How you think you may not be very important sometimes but all it takes is a little kindness to change a person‘s life. It‘s been added to my favorites shelf. 5⭐️ Highly recommended!

I love this movie and just realized it was based on a book. Novalee just had her baby in a Walmart and is in the hospital. I dunno if it‘s cause it‘s late and I‘m super tired, but I just laughed like an idiot for 5 minutes straight after reading this part. 😂😂😂 The next paragraph is even worse lol.

Day 5 of #AdventRecommends. I read this book quite a few years ago and loved it! I always love a good story with strong women characters and this one is one of my favorites. If you haven‘t read it, you should give it a try.

Read this many years ago about a teenager who gives birth at a Walmart. It was also a movie. Oprah chose it for her Book Club. I was just thinking that the abundance of celebrity book clubs that are now part of the reading world, started with Oprah and her love of reading. Kudos to her! #pregnant #septemberdanes

This book was on a list of #beach reads, perhaps because it‘s an Oprah book or maybe because it‘s a mostly heartwarming book (with some definite dark moments along the way) or maybe since the MC is a woman who overcomes obstacles to “.find a family” and build a life for herself. In any case I enjoyed it. The movie streamlines some of the characters and plot lines but is otherwise pretty faithful to the book.

I found this copy of Where the Heart Is at a library book sale. Someone (initials look to be JKB) wrote a full letter inside it to the person who had this book. The letter writer talks about realizing he/she had lost something and finally figured out what that was...trust. And the letter writer was giving the gift of trust to the one he/she gave this book to. Makes me wonder why the book was given away.
