We‘re two weeks away from our next #NancyDrewBR discussion! What special talent will Nancy show off this time??? Can she discover the mystery of the tolling bell? Discussion on the 15th!

Ruthiella Thanks for the reminder! 😊 3d

I‘m on to the final Nancy Drew title I found last time I was in this area—and once again, I seem to be reading it right around when the Litsy group preps for their discussion. Huh.

So far, this one‘s proven educational about bells and coastal delicacies like puffed shrimp and fish pudding topped with salmon mousse (…okay?). Lots of unconsciousness, too, thanks to drugs and mysterious caves. We shall see how it unfolds.

Stakes were high in this Nancy Drew. It seemed like there was constant adventures that put Nancy and her friends in dangerous situations.

I enjoyed it, mostly because it did seem different than some of the other books.

22 down for #NancyDrewchallenge ! Some good sleuthing and adventure in this one, with less far-fetched ridiculousness than in many. And now three done for #14books14weeks and another one off the library summer reading program challenge!

Sace Was this the one with the cult? Or maybe I just remember it as a cult 🤣 6y
ravenlee @RestlessFickleBookHoarder the cult is in this one - a fake nature cult that masks a counterfeiting operation. The tolling bell has a fake ghost and a securities scam involving cheaply made cosmetics. 6y
Sace It's really sad that I've read 30 of the Nancy Drew mysteries and the only two that I vaguely remember are this one and The Clue of the Leaning Chimney. 🤣 6y
ravenlee @RestlessFickleBookHoarder well, they do really blend together! I only remember the more outlandish bits from the first time I read them (a plot to harm NASA hinging on exploding oranges comes to mind). 6y
Sace WAIT! I think I remember that one! 🤣 My goal is to read all of them (up to The Thirteenth Pearl) and then turn around and read them again! 6y

🔦🛎This original text is really good. For some reason the escapades seem a tad more dangerous. The dialogue gets cheesy at times and Ned a little patriarchal sounding... but it's authentic to when it was written and I am loving it.
