Characters were brilliant and interesting. Secondary characters made things alive and I really felt the small-town vibe.

This was mysterious, even though the beginning was slightly slow. Things started to be more intriguing after that.

I was a bit disappointed after seeing all the great reviews and promises of non-stop twists. Some things were obvious from the beginning and I had guessed some of the twists beforehand - including the major one!

I'm about 1/3 of the way in and so far, I'm not enjoying this like I hoped. It's dragging a bit maybe? I dunno, guess it's a slow burn, which I normally don't mind, but so far isn't cutting it for me. Will stick with it though and hopefully it will pick up soon. 🤞

This book had A LOT going on. Almost too much. It was a slow burn (no pun intended) followed by SO many plot twists

Jack relocates with her daughter to a small town to ease away from some unpleasantness, but turns out things aren‘t so pleasant in their new spot, either. Tudor builds the tension here beautifully, but I was unconvinced by the reveals of the whodunnit.

Reverend Jack Brooks and her teenage daughter move to Chapel Croft with hopes of putting the past behind and making a fresh start. Unfortunately, they find a community still haunted by its own dark past. This book has a ton of atmosphere and the build up was terrific. The ending was a tad ridiculous but I was happy to suspend disbelief and go with the flow.

I loved this book because I didn't expect to actually like the vicar so much. The characters were all such surprises. I guessed one thing and it threw me off from figuring anything else out. The ending was convoluted, but great. It was a 5 star thriller because it was such a quick, engrossing read and I didn't want it to end.

C.J. Tudor is great. But you have to be in the mood for her. I was just semi-in-the-mood for this one though. It‘s good, but not really what I was here for just right now. Chalk Man (and the narration of The Chalk Man)still remains my favourite.

I‘ve really enjoyed all of CJ Tudor‘s novels but this might be my favorite (at least up there with The Chalk Man). I loved the many twists, turns, and oh so many secrets going on in this small and corrupt English village. While some of the misdirects seem a little far fetched I still enjoyed the overall mystery and seeing it all unfold. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

That was nice little Halloween palate cleanser. One of my favorite people in all the land recommended this and I was digging it. A creepy church, spirits, long buried secrets, small town people with no morals…all the the fun stuff you‘ll find in this suspenseful read 🎃🖤👻

Finished this ebook yesterday at work during lunch. Another good and creepy October read. Hard for me to describe but with a great twist ending. This was recommended I think of BookTube. I had never heard of it before.

I definitely feel like I would have gotten more out of this book if I had read it as opposed to listening to it on Audible. Still, it was very well written and I loved the history and psychology brought in. Also, some good creepy ghost moments.

🎉My 50th non-electronic book of the year! 🎉 “The Burning Girls” is definitely a good one for readers like me who enjoy supernatural stuff as well as mysteries, but I couldn‘t help but feel like the twist regarding Jack was a little bit too easy—even given the pretty clever misdirections employed by the Author. The other twist was fantastic, though, and I definitely didn‘t see it coming!

I was already a big fan of CJ Tudor but she really stepped it up with this one. Small village lore, deep seated secrets and religious cover ups mixed with old and new mysteries. This one kept me going from the first page to the last. More horror than thriller than any of the earlier books and I love it! I did figure out some big twists early on but I didn't enjoy it any less for it.

🎧 Fantastic narration! Richard Armitage & Gemma Whelan ROCK!

CJ Tudor presents an intricate mystery with a side of thriller bordering on horror! Enjoy the ride! 😁

1. The burning girls.
2. Mary & Joy‘s disappearance.
3. The new Vicar‘s past!

There are other sketchy characters that you‘ll meet along the way!

It‘s a fun book, smooth story, executed to perfection by the narrators. As good or better than Tudor‘s past books! Read on!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4

This book is for me by far her best one. I was totally gripped right to the end. It has a bit of horror in it too, I couldn't read it at night! There are two mysteries one from 30 years ago and one more present day. If you like creepy and sinister thrillers this is for you.

I put off reading this one because of the mixed reviews on Goodreads. Some people said they didn't like the ending but I thought the ending was decent. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Jack is a vicar with a 15 year old daughter & secrets. A troubling incident at her previous church causes Jack to transfer to a smaller church in a town that has secrets too. Jack must face her history head-on as the town's secrets start to surface or risk losing it all.

First post!

TLDR: I hardly ever give out 5 stars, but this book was exciting, engaging, and actually thrilling. For the first time in a really long time, I felt that “I can‘t wait to get home to read that book!” feeling. The writing is modern, intelligent, and even at some points quite scary. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend. Longer review on blog/IG. #thriller #suspense #horror #cjtudor #thrillerbooks
