pickI'm not sure I need to review this: it's a reread, still wonderfully atmospheric and a great story. It may send me off on a historical fiction spree - I need to know more about Mary Queen of Scots & Catholic history. And next time I'm in Derbyshire, I'm off location-spotting!

Each set of figure kept distinct, neither was aware of the other, and the farmer walked through them as if they were films of smoke.
Penelope is the ultimate #observer, seeing two worlds, 300 years apart.
I hardly ever reread my favourite books in case I ruin them by not loving them as much second time round. I seem to be safe with this tho - Alison Uttley is still 💖. Maybe I should trust my younger self more 🤔

This year, add me to the list of people fascinated by Mary, Queen of Scots. 👑 She featured prominently in the tagged book and popped up in Elizabeth Wein's The Pearl Thief. (I may have also watched some episodes of the teen historical soap opera The Reign 😳.) And I'm excited about the upcoming film about her starring Sairose Ronan.

pickThis was a total delight! Elizabethan history, the English countryside, folklore, and a manour house and all the treasures therein are lovingly described in this tale of a girl who slips between the past and the present. Plus it's full of fun old English terms like posset, Dumbledore, and marchpane. ☺️
If you love classic children's lit (Nesbit, Burnett, Barrie), then you would probably like this too!

My current read (the tagged book) is a children's book from the 1930s, full of loving descriptions of the English countryside. It mentioned dumbledores.

Because how can I read all the books if there are only 24 hours in a day? And that's before we get onto the things I discover rootling round the shelves for photos which *really* need rereading. (I used to love this book so much!)
