The Hunger Games Trilogy | Suzanne Collins
204 posts | 844 read | 3 reading | 46 to read
Suzanne Collins's extraordinary worldwide-bestselling Hunger Games trilogy is now available in a paperback boxset! This edition features the books with the classic cover art in a striking new package. Now available, a paperback box set of the Hunger Games! This special edition box set features the original cover artwork from the ground-breaking, bestselling trilogy. A perfect gift for fans of the books or movies. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Hour 30 challenge. The young adult series that I have read multiple times as an adult but also shared with both my kids (and all my high school students) is The Hunger Games. Katniss is one of my top 5 favorite female protagonists. #24in48 #hour30. My checkin time is just under 12 hours (11:56) as I‘m working my way through Ask Again, Yes

readingjedi Hi new Litsy person 🙂 I so get the raw meat thing - raw chicken is utterly repulsive 🤢 5mo
chaoticgoodhufflepuff Raw meat was one of the top reasons I ended up not enrolling in a cooking school. I hate handling it so much! I‘ve bribed people before to come over for dinner as long as they do the meat prep. 😂 5mo

madamereadsalot1 @LibrarianRyan I went through them again the tail end of last year. (Tried the audiobooks, wasn't a fan of the lady who read them.) So even though I've loved them for a long while, it's all still relatively fresh for me, AND my daughter is almost done with her first read through of the trilogy, so I'm very excited. Even more so than if it had been announced a year ago instead of now. 5mo

#ravenclaw_princess913 #ravenclawprincess913

greenhairdontcare Tricky one! I‘ve read The Maze Runner series & loved it. I‘ve only read The Hunger Games, but not the rest of the series. I loved it as well though!!! 7mo
RavenclawPrincess913 @greenhairdontcare I could not put the series down read all 3 in 3 days in 8th grade on school nights 😂😂😂 7mo
Shamzi Maze runner would be my choice over Hunger Games, maze runner is not only action packed but it's twisted plot is also very fascinating!! 7mo
See All 12 Comments
SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime I absolutely love both series, such a tough decision...I do think the Hunger Games movies were better, but I bought all the Maze Runner movies too to support them. Especially because he actor who played Thomas legitimately almost died filming the last movie. 7mo
RavenclawPrincess913 @SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime How many Maze Runner Movies are there? I saw the 1st one at my moms house 7mo
SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime @RavenclawPrincess913 There's 3 movies, one of the only series to stick to 3 books/3 movies.... The movies do start to diverge a bit from the books though after book 1...Still definitely worth reading & watching the whole series though. 7mo
RavenclawPrincess913 @SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime I'll haveta get them after reading the books than and are the 4th and 5th books just add ons or part of the series series? 7mo
SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime @RavenclawPrincess913 The other books are prequels to the entire trilogy, but aren't necessary to understanding the trilogy or the movies. I read Kill Order and liked it a lot, but it's none of the same characters as the trilogy. I never read Fever Code though, so can't speak to it. 7mo
Scochrane26 Hunger games 7mo
rretzler I loved both series, but if I had to pick, I‘d have to say Hunger Games, mainly because I liked the ending a little better. 7mo
AversBrown4124 They are both amazingly written, but I'd say Hunger Games 7mo
mdm139 Hunger Games! I read the first maze runner and liked it, but did not the second book. So I bailed on that series. 7mo

Apparently I have a thing for YA, when really, I don't read too much of it. ? But let me say I LOVE The Hunger Games trilogy. I think Peeta and Katniss are fantastic. I like their characters, I like their story, and I like their relationship. I find their commitment to helping each other heal is lovely. And " Real, Not Real" will always get me right in the guts. #lovehate @ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress

ErinSueMreads It‘s funny how memorable YA characters are in comparison to adult characters. They just have so much staying powerz 9mo
madamereadsalot1 @ErinSueG I've never really thought about it, but yeah they are. ? What's funny, when I read the series the first time, it was as they came out & I never really "noticed" Gale. I only ever had eyes for Peeta. And oddly enough, the romance angle didn't stick out to me, Peeta and Katniss developed something out of necessity and then shared trauma. To me it was a "horror" story, not a romance. (Cont 1/2) 9mo
ErinSueMreads I completely agree on the shared trauma bit. I was however totally team gale hahahha 9mo
madamereadsalot1 @ErinSueG So, when they made the movies I was so irritated that they made Gale more of a romantic possibility. I had liked them so much bc it was less romantic than most YA. At that point I was reading a LOT of YA. But, I went through them all again last year, & was SHOCKED by how much there WAS of a triangle. I had guess I blocked that part of the story? It was the war that stuck out to me. Funny how we see it different at different times! 9mo
madamereadsalot1 @ErinSueG I didn't NOT like Gale. And even this last go through, he was fine. But not once did I see him as potential for Katniss. For me, they were habits to each other. A creature comfort. Another day of hunting and surviving with each other. I think the love there was one of consistency and dependency and obviously friendship. But that isn't necessarily REAL romantic love. But I tend to have some different ideas of what love is. 9mo

LibrarianRyan Did you know that in other countries (like yours) standard transmissions are common and in the US automatics are the norm. I can drive a stick but it‘s a rare thing if you didn‘t grow up on or around a farm. I can even drive a 3 on the tree. 12mo
julesG @LibrarianRyan I know/knew that. Automatic transmission is something that you find in the more pricier range of cars, which is probably due to it costing extra. 12mo
LibrarianRyan @julesG here, it‘s not a “pricer” option, because it‘s not really an option. It‘s standard. To even find a stick is so unusual. My mom has a loaded to the gills car the dealership couldn‘t sell because it‘s a stick. It‘s so odd. I had a stick until I lived in Denver. I bought my first new car and swore it would be automatic and have a back seat. 🤪 12mo
