⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ yes that‘s a 6/5. I could not put this novel down. What a captivating story and eloquently written. I could nearly smell the air, envision the colors and scenes and feel the emotions throughout. The writing contained so many poetic figures of speech, I was stunned at the artistic way the author portrayed the story and brought it to life.

⭐️⭐️⭐️My first book I‘ve read written by a feminist. A memoir. It was easy to read and reflective but not necessarily happy, just someone‘s story. I do like to read people‘s stories. It makes you think about the interactions of men and women as we grow. Read without judgement of her choices and situations and she was brave and honest with what she shared.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️If you‘re into the running world and people‘s personal journeys. I remember when Des won the Boston Marathon 2018. I had to leave to work and was secretly trying to watch it while working on a patient. A rare year of catastrophic weather and an underdog type story. There was so much adrenaline. Des is down to earth and gifted in the sport of running. Thanks for sharing your story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have no love or interest in politics but highly recommend this. A beautiful person who has taken opportunities of life to be a good person to say the least. Enlightening look from a black woman‘s perspective, having come from a humble background. I‘m inspired and enlightened and want to hug Michelle for being as genuine as possible.

Meh. It‘s two stories in one. Maybe I‘ll go back and read the other sometime. It was an easy read but definitely felt like a romance suspense type novel. Maybe just not my favourite style and type.

My daughter gave it to me and insisted I read. She‘s in school for a Sociology Degree. I definitely felt like I could sit in a sociology class and have long discussions about this and possible outcomes. It also reminded me of where some people may develop global theories such as those that uprised during the pandemic. Descriptive and unique writing, distinctive imagery and very thought provoking. Curious now how the show is and how it concludes

This was a follow up to Kabul Beauty School. I found her first book quite intriguing learning the culture and life in Afghanistan. This book was interesting as I‘ve visited Mazatlan where this mostly takes place several times so I could follow the journey and life of actually living there and learning a little more about Spanish culture. It is definitely a personal journey and always interesting to see where paths lead and what gets people there.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can‘t help it, there has always been an environmental spirit in my soul. Even as a teen I had a bleeding heart for the earth. Three grown kids, our nightly routine included reading and this was one of our favourites and as a parent, one I also enjoyed reading. Sometimes when I‘m in the forest running I think of this great kids story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Raised Mormon there was a lot I could appreciate and relate to different aspects about this book. Not all mormons are fanatics in fact very few, but within every community there are always the individuals unique beyond others. Another interesting look into someone‘s upbringing and how she turns things around for herself. Survivalist.
Read~2020 ( saw it at someone‘s house last night and was like “ oh yeah! That book”👍🏻)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ November 2021. Conversing with my aunt this summer about our perceived loss of rights here in🇨🇦 vs what we saw on the news in Afghanistan; living there vs here and the desire as always to understand better- this memoir was excellent at painting a little bit of a better picture of what the realities are like especially as women in Afghanistan. I really appreciated gaining more cultural understanding and appreciation.

I very much enjoyed this but for me it was very relatable based on some life experiences. Again. I love to read about real life human adventures a d experiences and I love the idea of tackling the great outdoors as a way to find yourself. Read 2015

This book was also good and close to the show with mild variations as I recall and continued with the character chapters. I seem to recall some character chapters weren‘t even mentioned from the first book. New ones started but it wasn‘t until book 3 that some came back. I only got half way through number 3. It was good but started varying more from the show or the timeline was different and I just never finished. They are long reads.

I read this after I watched the first season so the characters were already established in my mind. It was fairly true to story if I recall and I liked how each chapter was based/ titled on one character like scenes.

By the last few chapters I couldn‘t put it down and there were lots of tears. If you like animals and our human relationships with them, then this will touch your heart.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️One of my favourite books. I love true stories and especially how she came from such an insane upbringing but found normalcy.
I read this years ago on a rainy cabin camp with my kids. We were all bored because of the weather. So I started reading it to the kids and just editing swear words. We were probably reading for 3 hours. They were all enthralled. My daughter went onto read it in her teens and is a big fan.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I originally read this in English 8 where we analyzed it thoroughly. I‘ve read it a few times over the years and loved the story and symbolism. I think I‘ve cried every time at the end.

2021–It took me a while to get through only because I didn‘t make the time. It‘s not that I didn‘t enjoy it while reading it. It‘s like a series of short stories analyzed that all come together and are absolutely intriguing about real life and real interactions. I love true events and I love analysis! Second book of his I‘ve read and found captivating for a non fiction genre/ documentary type.
