Insightful tale of growing up in South Africa. Hard to comprehend some of what he tells. Highly recommend

Lunakay I am reading this book right now and this is exactly how I feel! 2mo

Maggie is a great writer. Quite a tale she tells for the most part avoids editorial comments and lets the facts talk.

Very powerful. The book follows nine Lower Ninth Ward residents and culminates shortly after Katrina.
The book is a sad reminder of how our government failed New Orleans

This is an excellent book about those left behind in London and in Malta. The title of the book is tongue in cheek since the brave were never jus on the front line

Though I have read at least a half dozen Lincoln books I don‘t remember the depth of detail that this book contains. The striking thing about LINCOLN that this book brings home is how many times Lincoln lost before he won the presidency. Very enjoyable

My first Reacher book. Good story about a corrupt town bought off by steady streams of cash. Reacher fans will like the story and not be surprised (spoiler alert) that Reacher walks away from his love interest.

Good mystery. The Emily is the main character and she is well drawn- often conflicted by life‘s choices. Her fiancé is a rich kid. Why are rich people almost always portrayed as assholes. Is it because it is true?

I had not read Jo before but I will. Like many current novels all the characters in this novel are flawed but I guess that is real life. On the other hand the family that is the subject of the story is very messed up. Overall the story kept my interest

If you want a peek into the future as to what climate changes might do to us as a world this is an excellent story

Reggie I liked his ideas in here. I liked the way he showed how one might become an eco terrorist(and let‘s be honest those people are on what is looking to be the right side they might as well be called a future activist) with one of his main characters surviving the heatwave. There was a lot to discuss in here. I just didn‘t care for the way he wrote it. It felt like a fiction book that really wanted to be a nonfiction book. 2y

Story about the English Irish battles in the mid 1800‘s and two men whose lives intersect. The ending was unsatisfying which is the reason it is not a pick.
