The best of French so far. Amazing. A real rollercoaster of “if”s and suppositions. Crime at its best. You could jump into the Dublin Murder Squad right here if you wanted, but do read this book.

Another excellent book in the Dublin Murder Squad series. Conway may be a tough narrator to spend time with, like Frank Mackey, but seeing where she's coming from is illuminating. I liked her partnership with Moran, and the dialogue, and the constant guessing (I kept changing my mind about who was right).

That‘s all six down then. Ages since I have forged on a series. This felt weaker than earlier outings and the protagonist is harder to like than some of the others but altogether well written. (In #fbc news I have walked miles around the office today but forgot my Fitbit!) May manually add what my phone says !

LiteraryinLititz Which of the series do you remember really liking? I read a few (definitely The Likeness and 1-2 others) but decided to just pick and choose which of the others I would read. 5mo
LiteraryinLititz Ok, Broken Harbour and In the Woods were the other 2. I had to look it up. ☺️ 5mo

Another really good book in the series! I also really like the audios of these. I haven‘t listened to them all, but I have for many of them, and they are always done really well. I like the Irish accent, too. I also always enjoy the personal stories of the detectives in these books. I was always kept wanting to read more, to find out how things were going to unfold. Really enjoyed this one!

rabbitprincess Going to have to read this one soon! I've been hoarding it for the right moment. 6mo
LibraryCin I hope you like it! It's rare that I'm caught up in a series, so I have to wait for the next one! Funny thing, I also usually space out my series reads by quite a bit, but I've been going pretty strong (for me: 1 or 2/year) with this series! 6mo

Finished this yesterday while home sick with a fever. I accidentally skipped the book before this one in the series, but didn‘t realize until I was already well into it.

Tana French creates absorbing plots and fascinating characters, and The Trespasser is no exception — I sped through the second half of the book in one sitting.

I picked up tagged book for #Booked2019 lady detective prompt since @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian said tantalizing things about it. It‘s the sixth book in the series but after sampling a minute of the first I skipped to this one.

I love Tana French‘s Dublin Murder Squad series. This one features Detective Antoinette Conway as she tries to solve a murder that seems predictable at first, but soon spirals out of control. Conway is tough but always on her guard as the only female murder detective. She has to be, especially when she notices a strange man hanging around her house at night, watching her...

This is truly a fantastic book. Wonderful nuanced characterization of a salty, cynical, flawed, smart woman detective Antoinette (I just loved her voice) combined with a fascinating, expertly plotted and paced crime story. I loved how preoccupied the narrative was with stories: the stories we tell ourselves about our lives and the stories detectives construct when investigating. Excellent voice acting in the #audiobook. #Mystery

Really glad to have finally read my #BOTM pick from Nov 2016!!! Trying to read through my #BOTM backlog 😛 This was my first book by Tana French & probably my last. I found the book dragged in too many parts and while there was a good mystery to solve it took to long to reach the conclusion. It seems many enjoy the returning characters of the Murder Squad but I had trouble connecting with any of them. #Booked2019 #FemaleDetective

Woke at 2 am and had to finish this one. The sole woman detective on the murder squad fears the other Ds are trying to sabotage her. As she begins her investigation into what appears to be a standard domestic murder she begins to question everything. #Shewill have to trust her frayed instincts and #shewill need to learn who she can rely on to solve this case. Tana French bounces back from her disappointing "Secret Place," with one of her strongest books. Antoinette Conway & Stephen Moran return, desperate for a challenging case. When they are given what appears to be a run-of-the-mill homicide, they soon find the investigation is much more than it appears. Absent from "The Trespasser" is French's trademark lyrical portrait of place as a character; rather with Antoinette Conway as the narrator, we ?

vivastory get a look at the damage of workplace harassment that feels timely with #metoo & Kavanaugh. Conway is a strong character & her partnership with Moran is my favorite in the series. Highly recommend! 13mo

Well, I‘m going to go against popular opinion with this book. I caught myself several times not caring at all about what the narrator was thinking. I don‘t know if I found her full of herself or overall much more negative than most of the other narrators in this series. I may try to get the audiobook and listen to it. I ended up scanning most of the book... I love Tana French but this wasn‘t one of my favorites.... 😳

So you are probably wandering why I did the audiobook when it is a BOTM. I find I can get more read when I combine reading methods. #6 in the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French. Detectives Conway and Moran are investigating the aftermath of a domestic dispute. While everyone else seems convinced it's a standard open and shut case, they're not so sure. Or are they just overcomplicating things?

I love French's writing style. Her characters are so well crafted, and the stories just suck you in. I totally lost track of time when they started closing in on the killer!

Last one, for now. I must say that this story took a little bit to get into. But once it did, it was as if a powerful force was pulling me into a vortex, and I had a very difficult time putting it down. In the end, Tana French delivered again. Atmospheric and definitely dark, this was a well written crime story. Heavy on the subject matter, but with a message at the end. #nospoilers #crimefiction #detectivedstory #tanafrench 🖤

My current audiobook is keeping me in #suspense! Detective Antoinette Conway and her partner are investigating what appears to be a straightforward case of lovers quarrel turned murder. Only things may not be what they seem. Without knowing who to trust and what to believe, can they solve the case? And has the department's harassment of Antoinette led her to paranoia, or is someone watching her?

Six books into this series, and Tana French still manages to suck me in and keep me guessing. I am awed by her ability to write each book in a first-person narrative from the point of view of a different character each time--and do it with a unique voice each and every time. She's such a gifted writer.
