Day 18. Queen
#Queen
For this prompt I leaned more character than title. The Queen of Hearts makes an appearance in Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland.
Last read it about 10 years ago. Difficult to read without visualising the Disney version to myself.
I have this quote hanging up in front of my treadmill but besides making me chuckle when I attempt to exercise I think it perfectly sums up my everyday anxiety and stress. #aliceinwonderland #redqueen
That's the Staatstheater Stuttgart Theatre House during the era of the directorship of Hasko Weber (2005 - 2013).
I worked there for 13 years - glorious times... π
Still longing to get back to theatre - but under the current directorship it's not possible in Stuttgart where I'm homebased...
Also checking in from last weekend's #20in4 *drumroll*
I managed a bit more than 16 hours! π₯³ Wtf?!? For me that's Woohooo!!!
...
The Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wunderland got her own tree too!

The Quick and Pithy of MY READING MIND
This is a fast little story, and more like a game of 52-pickup. It‘s no wonder people in the 1960s liked to read this story while high. Actually, perhaps this is the only way an adult can live-ily see the sense of this beautiful dream (kids get it instinctively; their sense of wonder hasn‘t yet been weighed down by society).

author of βMax, the blind guyβ and three other novels
Just got back from a vacation to Disney World with extended family and thinking about finally reading this children‘s classic. Inspired by the mug I bought at Epcot!
Happy #ChineseNewYear to any Littens celebrating today! And welcome to the Year of the Rabbit! #JanuaryJazz @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Reading material for my trip to Disneyland Paris!
Interesting to see how surrounding myself with the language helps and makes my trip even more fun!
I'm so excited.
I want to get a picture with Alice reading it
(Going June 2023)
A friend gifted me this cool cut out version of Alice in Wonderland ππ₯°
I would give the Mad Hatter a collection of Surrealist art. I think it'd have an interesting effect. π€π€£

This book won the Kate Greenaway Award. This is about Alice who follows a rabbit into the woods. The rabbit goes down into a hole and Alice follows. She soon finds out that she is in a complete different universe than what she is use to. She then has many experiences and meets many new things and creature along the way.
This was a favorite book and a favorite Disney movie when I was a child.

This year was Alice in Wonderland themed β€π§‘ππππ
Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, 'and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice, βwithout pictures or conversation?'

Detail of my latest finished quilt. When I saw this fabric collection based on Alice, just had to get it and make something out of it! βHappy unhalloween β!
Still reading, just not posting as much on all forms of social media even though Litsy is still my favoriteπ π
I somehow managed to go my whole life not having read this book (I do remember trying to read it as a kid and I maybe read a Disneyfied version). But my friends and I did CluedUpp's Alice in Wonderland themed scavenger hunt this past weekend, and I thought I should read the book... which I did not enjoy despite the dulcet tones of narrator Scarlet Johannsen. #TeamSlaughter #Scarathlon @Clwojick
Under other circumstances, I‘d probably choose another book setting, but if it‘s my birthday I couldn‘t pass up a chance to join Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Cheshire cat. They seem to know how to throw a crazy party!

My last book of September for my virtual foodie book club. I couldn‘t tell you how many decades it has been since I read this book. It was fun to revisit & a quick read. I decided to go with a (Very Mock Turtle) Creamy Wild Rice Soup with Green Olives (the olives π«are halved & I am using them to symbolize turtle shells floating in the bowl.π€·π»ββοΈ It was very tasting with the briny olives & juice brightening up the rich creamy soup. Love this 150th Anniversary Edition with artwork by Salvador Dali. I first read Alice in Wonderland when I was in my teens. I purchased this edition a couple years ago and read it to my then-9-year-old. Re-reading it once more with my now-9-year-old.
It‘s going to take one more session to finish it up, but my Alice in Wonderland piece is coming along nicely.
On Episode 208 of my book podcast, we are officially down the rabbit hole for what I know is a long overdue journey through ALICE‘S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND. Author Roselle Lim pulls up a seat at our podcast tea party and shares her personal love for this whimsical story and aesthetic. π°β₯οΈβ¦οΈ Listen at the link in my bio!
Another birthday month book from The Folio Society.
I collect Alice in Wonderland books. My niece & mom‘s middle name is Alice β€οΈ
LOVE the art, paper weight & matching slipcase. It‘s a naked hardcover with matching artwork.
The book is very nicely bound & built to last. It‘s worth the hefty price tag. You can‘t go wrong with a Folio Society special edition.
I eagerly await the next Stephen King SE & maybe another children‘s classic!t

For Wednesday‘s #bookquote, I‘m sharing a picture from Pinterest showing my favorite book quote from Alice‘s Adventures In Wonderland. I read this book in 2017 and I really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed the movie adaptation that had Johnny Depp in it.
Yesterday I visited this exhibition about Alice in Wonderland :D
found this odd little copy of a classic at Books-A-Million today. they‘re having a moving sale, so it was cheap.
Lovely little edition to celebrate the Queens Jubliee.
There's a timeline in the back of facts on Queen Elizabeth and the pages have crowns down them and silver on the outside pages.

Sadly didn't read this while in childhood but reading it in adulthood doesn't stop it being any less magical and fun
Saw this @wanderinglynn 's and consider myself tagged. π
1. Oh yes. Classics & modern classics. After all, 'classics' is not a genre - it's books written a long time ago that are still known and available today. Most books from the last centuries are forgotten/lost, but a few of them (from all 'genres': plays, political, sci-fi, historical, mystery, romance, moral..) somehow survived, are still in print and are still considered relevant today. β¬
@Catsandbooks Leila! This is awesome! I'm in love with it! You absolutely nailed it. Thank you! π

Since I'm finally testing my language skills in March when I go to Lisbon, I learnt the basics.
I'm going to do a little experiment to see the difference between talking to my friend and being surrounded by the language itself.
It will be interesting to see if I just obsorb words without even thinking about it.
I'm looking forward to this trip so much!
I made the invitation for my niece's (who's name is Alice) first birthday! It turned out so cute I had to share! I just can't wait to see her in person at the end of the month!! ππβ€οΈβοΈπΈ
