Divine Secrets of the YA-YA Sisterhood (Revised)
Divine Secrets of the YA-YA Sisterhood (Revised) | Rebecca Wells
In 1932, Viv and the Ya-Yas were disqualified from a Shirley Temple look-alike contest for unladylike behaviour. Many years later, they're bucking seventy and still making waves.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely not a favorite—the story was okay, but I didn‘t like most of the characters much, and I thought the writing was simplistic and over-flowery.

This one has been on my TBR for a while. I love the movie but expect the book will be so much better! Diving in and drinking some wine. 😊🍷♥️

KathyWheeler I loved this book. It‘s set where I used to live and it‘s well told. I didn‘t care for the books that came before or after it nearly as much. 2y
ItsAngel @KathyWheeler I honestly didn‘t even know it was a series. I just know I love the movie so I‘ve wanted to read it for that reason. 😬 2y
KathyWheeler @ItsAngel I don‘t know that I‘d really call it a series. The books just feature some of the same characters, but they aren‘t really connected. 2y

I have three friends and together we call ourselves the Ha Has. Based on the Ya Yas, however, we met through hockey so we changed the Y to an H. I, obviously, I am the 4th Ha Ha. Unfortunately number one through three live in California and could not attend.

Donna_sBookMinute Great story! So did you get a chance to tell it to her; or did just inscribe to the name you gave her? 3y

My friend at work and I decided it would be fun to give each other three of our favorite books to read. I am more into fantasy and sci-fi. She likes fiction and love stories. What are the odds that YA-YA sisterhood is about a group of witches and The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing involves warewolves? She did give me the Time Travelers Wife which she says "The closes fantasy book I have." lol I think she's going to have a good time with mine.

Cinfhen That's fun 💖 3y
Lmstraubie What a great idea! 🤓 What books did you give her?? 3y
Dragon I enjoyed all three books 📚 3y
See All 7 Comments
398.2 @Lmstraubie Ya it's fun. I gave her Legend by Marie Lu because she like the hunger games and divergent books. Three dark crowns because she saw me reading it at work and she thought it was interesting. Then A court of thorns and Roses by Sarah Maas because she was one of my absolute favorites. She told me anything but Sci-fi lol 3y
398.2 @Cinfhen Ya it's fun. I am trying to branch out when it comes to reading. There's so many different genres. 😀 3y
398.2 @Dragon Ya they seem good. My only requirement was no sad books. lol I told her none of these better not make me cry lol 3y

The Southern Voices Festival at the Hoover Library in Alabama is always my favorite weekend of the year. This year's keynote speaker is Rebecca Wells who wrote Yaya sisterhood. Saturday's writers include Chris Bohjalian, CJ Box, Mary Kubica, and Karen White, amongst others. I always have to go by myself because my friends are not readers, but I still love them. I loved this book. I know I'm about two decades late to the party, but I'm finally at an age where I can understand it. It's at once a coming-of-age story, a buddy story, and a story about mother-daughter relationships. Funny, sad, very well written.
