This was definitely a #tearjerker at the end. It was a good introspective on grief and healing from trauma. Overall, it was not too emotional and I am still trying to figure out if that was a benefit or a loss for the book. Going to digest this one for awhile. #readwithmrbook @MrBook

I am not traveling this week so I'm going to try to get this tear-jerker read for #readwithmrbook . Watson is also staying nearby for when I need puppy cuddles.

Josh has to come back to his small hometown in Kent when his father is diagnosed with terminal cancer. He comes to terms with his father's illness and reconnects with his estranged father, gets used to small town life again, meets old friends, among them the One who got away.

It's a #romcom, but it's also a story about small-town life and about family.

• Few chapters in and it's pretty good; Tear-jerker read for Feb 2020 #ReadWithMrBook #challenge. Won't finish by the end of the month but that's all part of the plan (wink wink -- there's no plan, folks) •

@TorieStorieS Thank you so much for the book! This is what I wanted to read for the #ReadWithMrBook prompt...a story told by an animal. So I am thrilled...thank you! I will write back soon. 😘

Pickpick

Thus begins the beautiful story of Trudi Montag. Set in Germany and spanning the years from immediately post WWI until a few years post WWII, Hegi gives us a glimpse at what it means to be different, to be part of a community, and the humanity that persists during the darkest of times. I took this one slow, giving myself plenty of time to savor and digest.

BarbaraBB Very good review. I must check the book out! 6d
Librarybelle Glad this was a pick for you! It is such a moving story. 6d
cherinium @BarbaraBB Thanks! It took me a bit to find my rhythm, but once I did, I loved it. I loved that while much of this story was set in Germany during WWII (as so many books are), it didn't feel like a book about the war. It was definitely more about that feeling of "otherness" that so many people live with every day of their lives. 6d
cherinium @Librarybelle Yes, it was! I can't believe how long this book sat on my bookshelves untouched. I'm glad I finally picked it up. 6d

I actually DNF‘d this with 42 minutes left to go. 42 minutes y‘all!! On double speed that‘s a solid cup of tea to the finish line.

But this was so much like The Red Queen that it felt like a re-read to me. So bummed. Guess that means ... another #tearjerker for #ReadWithMrBook! @MrBook

BlameJennyJane 😂42 minutes! Lmao 7d
