#ToB23 #shortlisted This was an interesting study of a family dealing/living with grief/loss.
It‘s short on action but long on character study. While this book was good, I‘m not sure why it made the shortlist🤷🏼‍♀️
This was my last book from the shortlist - looking forward to discussing with the tournament crew.

Cinfhen Heads up friends…. @britt_brooke is no longer participating in the #52booksChallenge so kindly remove her name from the tag list 😁 (edited) 1y

Cinfhen @Deblovestoread @BookBelle84 not sure if you received the first tag….xx 1y
Ruthiella I really liked this after I got used to the format/style. It‘s definitely something I normally would not read were it not for the TOB. 1y
Chelsea.Poole I just checked this out from the library. I‘ll get it in a few days. Based on reviews I think this one will work for me because I‘m good with character studies 😊 1y
Librarybelle I‘ve seen lots of mixed reviews about this one. I‘m on the fence about it… #somanybookssolittletime 1y
squirrelbrain I‘m still wavering about this one. It‘s expensive over here and isn‘t yet available on any ‘free‘ apps. 🤷‍♀️ 1y
Cinfhen This was a borrow from #Scribd @squirrelbrain and I‘m glad..,it‘s not a book I‘d re-read @Librarybelle @Chelsea.Poole but it had some merit, I just didn‘t love it. 1y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 1y
sarahbarnes I actually just returned this to the library yesterday without reading it…I just wasn‘t feeling it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1y
Cinfhen It‘s a slow burn @sarahbarnes - maybe you‘ll try again before the tournament begins 1y
Cinfhen Thanks,Sarah 😁I‘ve manage to read both my #BookSpin & #DoubleSpin for February @TheAromaofBooks 🙌🏻💗 1y
BarbaraBB So good you‘ve read them all! I just started Mercury but find it sooo boring. And I have Seven Moons still calling out. Not sure if I‘m going to give in 😉 1y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Sorry, y‘all - challenges are just not for me. 😚😚 1y
Cinfhen I bailed on both Mercury & Seven Moons @BarbaraBB AND The passenger and (edited) 1y
Cinfhen So I REALLY haven‘t read them all 🙈 1y
Cinfhen At least you considered it @britt_brooke but better to know your limitations 😍 1y
TheAromaofBooks Nice!!! Only a week into the month, too!!! 1y
Cinfhen I‘m pretty impressed with myself @TheAromaofBooks I‘m not gonna lie 😜😂😂 1y
Hooked_on_books Hey, nice job on completing! I have 2 left, so I‘m in good shape. 1y
BkClubCare @Ruthiella 👍 Always a top reason I follow the TOB 1y
BkClubCare @Cinfhen 👏 My TOB philosophy is IF I had it in my hands and read some of it (and then read a million contrarion reviews 🤣) I am likely to count it! 1y
Cinfhen Which two @Hooked_on_books ??? 1y
Hooked_on_books Olga and Goose 1y
Cinfhen I think you‘ll enjoy both @Hooked_on_books ♥️🤞🏼 1y

There is a lot of room for interpretation in this book and I really don‘t know what to think. The narrator is an unstable 8 year old telling about her 14 year old sister who might be demonized, her suddenly bizarre religious father, her depressed mother, an exorcism and a tv crew who makes a reality show about it.

Also there are many references and similarities with classic horror stories. I kind of enjoyed it, I think.

BarbaraBB Thanks for sending me this ages ago @Cinfhen ❤️ (when mail still worked 🤣) 1y

BookishTrish This is one of my favourite favourites 1y
vivastory I'm happy that you didn't pan this one. Tremblay is one of my favorite living horror authors. I have tickets to see the adaptation of Cabin At the End of the World on Saturday. 1y
BarbaraBB @vivastory I didn‘t enjoy Cabin much, I think this one‘s much better - fortunately! 1y
Ruthiella Cool! 😱 I just got a used copy of this title for $1. Hoping to get to it this year. 🤞 1y
Cinfhen The good old days☺️ 1y
squirrelbrain Hmm, doesn‘t sound like my kind of book. Great review though! 1y
vivastory I did like this one a bit more than Cabin etc but I still loved Cabin. I think you might like his shirt story collection. It's the most cerebral of his works I think 1y
BarbaraBB @vivastory Thanks, that sounds good! I‘ll stack it! 1y
BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain People like @vivastory @Reggie and @TrishB have made me appreciate horror at times! 1y
vivastory @BarbaraBB That's a big compliment 😀 1y
TrishB I‘m glad you give it a go 😁 I‘ve tried so many things because of Litsy! @vivastory let me know what the film is like- I may even venture to the cinema 😱 1y
Reggie 🖤🖤🖤She was possessed, right? Lol 1y
BarbaraBB @TrishB That‘s a whole other league 😉 1y
BarbaraBB @Reggie I‘m still not sure. Such a mindf*ck! 1y

I read all but 18 pages yesterday; I just didn‘t want to put it down for anything! I love this series, and this is my second favorite. I worried it would rehash Mitch‘s story, but it didn‘t. Dex‘s transition from Ren Faire Lothario to credible romantic lead worked so well. This is also one of the most believable conflicts I‘ve ever found in a romance. Loved it all. #52Books #epilogue or #aboutsiblings

squirrelbrain Sounds fun! ❤️ 1y
LaraReads Ohhh, this looks good! 💜 1y
ravenlee I do recommend reading the first two, if not all three, for characters. This one can be read alone, but I think knowing about the Ren Faire world from the first one, and Stacey and Daniel‘s story that introduces Dex and the Dueling Kilts makes it better. Also I just love the series! 1y
Librarybelle I need to read this series! 1y

A light-hearted story about 2 grown-up sisters, one sister‘s sensitive son, and their aging advice-columnist mother as all their relationships with their significant others implode simultaneously. The banter between the family is witty, and it‘s a warm, lovable family unit. But the startup/influencer storyline felt a little forced. It gave me Elin Hildebrand vibes with an NYC edge…. Fun, fluffy but a bit forgettable… a light 3⭐️pick.

KarenUK And finally, I feel I have to do the first Barnes & Noble 52 book challenge! #BN2023challenge #anauthoryouvenotheardofbefore I really managed a #quadripledip !!!! 🍦🍦🍦🍦 1y
Cinfhen Wait? What?!?! B& N is doing a challenge?! Fun 🤩 (edited) 1y
squirrelbrain Yay for the quadruple dip! I just did one too. But, la, la, la I don‘t want to hear about any more challenges… 🙉 1y
KarenUK Yep! @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain They posted it a couple of days ago on Instagram, so I kind of have to do it! Luckily I‘ll be able to double/triple dip a lot!!! 😉 https://www.instagram.com/p/CmwLXnnuyMC/?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= 1y
Cinfhen I was tempted @squirrelbrain but I‘m holding back… 1y
Cinfhen Congrats on the #quadruple 🙌🏻🎉💖 1y
squirrelbrain Oh dear, I don‘t have Insta so I can‘t see it properly… phew! 😮‍💨 1y
BarbaraBB I had no idea so many people participated in #52bookclub23! I have to make a taglist! For #pop23 you can add (as far as I know) @AshleyHoss820 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick and @RaeLovesToRead 1y
AshleyHoss820 @KarenUK I saw their instagram post and decided to give that one a go too! They have some good prompts! 1y
KarenUK @AshleyHoss820 Nice to have a challenge buddy! 👍💕 1y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I am focusing on #Booked2023 & #52BookClub23 this year (I get lazy & just use #52books) but am also trying to see how far I can get with #pop23, read harder, b & n, and maybe one or two others. Someone on instagram released a We Didn't Start the Fire challenge with 132 prompts. I might count one book for multiple prompts on that one & track just for fun. It's a fun addiction. 1y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @BarbaraBB ☝️See above comment. I accidentally removed your tag. 1y
BarbaraBB So many challenges! I am over my head into challenges as well. Not sure where I‘ll end up with #pop23, doing #booked2023 and #52books as well. And now I must check out the big one on Instagram as well 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick (edited) 1y

Eve‘s beloved husband has committed suicide leaving her reeling from grief and shock. Her large Nigerian family and a group of old & new friends step in, trying to help get her back on track.
This book was raw & heartfelt. Eve is a great character. And the reader, Adjoa Andoh was BRILLIANT 🎧🙌🏻
Would work for #52BookClub23 #AboutSiblings

BarbaraBB Sounds so sad but good! 1y
Cinfhen TW: Death by suicide 1y

Megabooks I don‘t think I‘m doing that challenge, but I do have this checked out from the library. Unsure whether I‘ll read it because it‘s very similar to a friend‘s real life situation. 💜 1y
Cinfhen It might be too painful/ raw @megabooks but the audio narration was really excellent if you do decide to try the book. Eve does lean heavily on her best friend B, who‘s another fabulous character. It‘s a book about grieving & healing ❤️‍🩹 1y
KarenUK Can‘t wait to read it…. Sounds great… 1y
squirrelbrain Love Adjoa Andoh as a narrator! ❤️ 1y

HEARTBREAKING 💔 This book is beyond sad because it‘s based on true accounts. #Bolivia 1999, Francisco 17 & his sister Pilar, 12 are forced to live inside a men‘s prison when their dad is falsely incarcerated & can‘t afford to pay his way out. Their daily life & struggles are harrowing. #ReadingAmericas #TriplePlay #Booked2023 #MountainRegion #FalselyImprisoned #52BookClub #AboutSiblings #SurvivalStory

Cinfhen Shall I include this one, @Megabooks ??? 1y
Cinfhen Annoyed I missed another #GoldenOpportunity 1y

Cinfhen Yeah @jenniferw88 maybe I should have waited!! It‘s a middle grade @Librarybelle so it‘s a quick read 1y
squirrelbrain Sounds great! But, of course, I can‘t get hold of it! 🙄 (edited) 1y
Megabooks You are totally spoiling me, but yes, I‘d love to read this for Bolivia!! Thank you!! 😘😘 1y
BarbaraBB This is a golden opportunity indeed. I‘ll definitely get a copy, it ticks off so many prompts! 1y
BarbaraBB Done 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1y
BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain I bought a copy for you too, it is very cheap op Amazon.nl. I‘ll send it to you once I receive it! (edited) 1y
squirrelbrain Oh Barbara, that‘s so very sweet of you! 😘 @BarbaraBB 1y
Cinfhen I love how we all share and support each other on our challenge quest @BarbaraBB @Megabooks @squirrelbrain 💕💕💕💕 1y
