It's a long, an heteroclite bunch of things that make a kinda nasty soup of cliches on race, women, drugs you name it it's there. I was taken a bit by surprise because this series had a better than average outlook with these subjects. Big herring... the add on of cocktails recipes. When the bath bubbles fragrances, lunch picnic food and child abuse are on the same level it's time for me to reconsider if I'm still on board with the series.

writerlibrarian Now question for @Cinfhen or @BarbaraTheBibliophage or @4thhouseontheleft could this count as #booked2019spring #nightoriented because I do not have the stomach to read what was my choice. But me, being a completist and read in order freak I read this one before. Big mistake, huge. ☹️ (edited) 2d
Cinfhen Sure!!!! Dark is night oriented !!!!! Clever💫wouldn‘t want all that reading time go to waste 😂 2d
writerlibrarian @Cinfhen 🥰 this was a waste of precious reading time. I did finish it because it had the paralyzing effect of watching a train wreck. Thanks. (edited) 2d

Time for my first #BFC “weigh” in😜Week 1
If I‘m #KeepingItReal I had some successes and a failure too 😔

My scorecard:
Fitness Goals - 1 ( need to improve during week 2)
Nutritional Goals - 3 ( can do better but off to a good start)
Book Goals - 4 (I finished 3 physical books & I‘m in the middle of 2 audio books 🤓🎧 tagged book is really good)

Overall Week 1 score 2.75

Doing some #AudioCooking ~ weekend guests 😜

Cinfhen Thanks for the positivity @Bookwormjillk @guinsgirlreads @LauraBeth @britt_brooke @BookwormAHN @bewareofwords @wanderinglynn @TheSpineView I‘m just disappointed in myself that I gave up so easily when the fitness portion of the challenge was too difficult. #NoPainNoGain I need to sweat it out a little more and build up my strength/ breathing 1w

Megabooks I was thinking about using The Circle for #booked2019 #socialmediafocus, but I can‘t decide since I haven‘t liked some of his other books. @Cinfhen Did you like it, Barbara? 2w
Cinfhen I did not like The Circle @Megabooks but others did. It didn‘t work as dystopian for me and I thought the MC was a dishrag!!!! 2w

Megabooks @Cinfhen That sounds like a Dave Eggers MC! 😂😂 2w
BarbaraBB @Megabooks I liked the first part, then it spun a bit out of control imo. But it has its strong points and describes a really possible (and scary) scenario for our future. I‘d give it a try if I were you! 2w

Cinfhen Both book and lunch look good😋 1mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen The lunch was pretty good. The book‘s writing isn‘t all that great but I‘m curious about the story. 1mo
Cinfhen Love that you‘re #KeepingItReal Hope book picks up 🙏🏻 it‘s hard to get pass poor writing 1mo

Pickpick

#AnglophileApril Day 2: This pageturner has a lot of #RumorHasIt vibe. Most reviewers tend to liken the plot to that of Gone Girl – and I can see the parallels, particularly with the unreliable narrators whose memories are dubious at best. I naturally accompanied my review with traintrack photos while I was in Birmingham and London in 2015. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-axE

Demibom Train tracks give me the creeps. But the book looks promising 2mo
Cinfhen Those stations look so depressing, no wonder she was such a heavy drinker 😂😂😂 sorry my UK Littens, but they NEED to spruce up your outdoor stations 🚉 (edited) 2mo

I'm about 1/3 of the way into this, and it reminds me a lot of Orange is the New Black. Not the book per se, but the backstories that were created for all of the characters on the Netflix adaptation. So, if you liked the OITNB TV show, you'd probably like this book.

Cinfhen I thought that too, but wait.... let‘s see what u think by the end 😂😉 5mo
Rachel.Rencher @Cinfhen Oh dear... okay 😂 5mo

Mehso-so

#ARC #NetGalley #KeepingItReal #MoreMehThanYeah #BorrowNotBuy
I‘m not sure this book will resonate well with most readers. Aside from the MC being really unlikeable, there isn‘t much of a story here. I think Lullaby/ The Perfect Nanny was a much more compelling story. I do like the edginess and rawness of Slimani‘s writing and I‘ll definitely continue to read more from her, but this book was just ok.

TrishB Lovely review 👍🏻 not one to add to lists currently. 5mo
Cinfhen You can definitely wait for a #KindleDeal @TrishB 5mo
RadicalReader @Cinfhen I truly loved The Perfect Nanny kept me glued and flew from chapter to chapter as if by catapult 5mo

Cinfhen That‘s why I think this one was a bit disappointing @RadicalReader 😔the pages did fly by but the story wasn‘t as compelling 5mo
RadicalReader @Cinfhen felt the same about Josh Malermans second novel when Bird Box was original and gripping and terrifying how his second was flat Boring and listless 5mo
Cinfhen Ugh!! Disappointing when you have high expectations @RadicalReader 5mo
Cinfhen Here׳s my review @TrishB I was kind of vague so I still don‘t remember much about this book🤷‍♀️ 2mo
TrishB 👍🏻 even more negative on Amazon! 2mo

Mehso-so

Wanted to love but quite frankly most of the time thought Jack was a twat. So-So rather than a 👎for witty dialogue/style of book. Just didn't like characters. I'd have been more impressed if Love At First Sight had turn into got to know him & REALLY Loved him. Disliked couple's have to be in each other's pockets to be happy message. Moving to another country is big deal. Being on your own for 3 days a week isn't. Lots of couples make it work.

Cinfhen Thanks for your honest review 😊 5mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @Cinfhen Your Welcome. This book kind of pushed my buttons. I'm too practical for Love at First Sight trope. My spouse travels a bit with his job. I'm amazed when asked what I do with myself when he's gone. Like I can't function without out him 5mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @Cinfhen ^plus had a mother who didn't go anywhere without my dad. Made me very self suficient. 5mo

8little_paws Lol, ok i'm going to skip this one. I think i'm too practical, like you! 5mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @hes7 or the our marriage is on shaky ground - Let's have a baby! 5mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @8little_paws it takes a lot for Romance story to impress me. Grand Gestures are exciting. But practical me is thinking: y'all are eventually going to actually have to make a life together work 5mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @8little_paws @hes7 @Cinfhen but interestingly I have no problem reading Fantasy. Magical things happen and I'm like wow isn't that cool. 😉 5mo
