Snowed in for Christmas: A Novel | Sarah Morgan
20 posts | 15 read | 3 to read
"Morgan is a masterful storyteller.... For fans of Jojo Moyes, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Stacey Ballis. --Booklist What happens if the only Christmas celebration you want to attend is one you haven't been invited to? USA Today bestselling author Sarah Morgan delights with this hilarious and heartwarming Christmas cracker of a novel! A family gathering This Christmas the Miller siblings have one goal--to avoid their well-meaning family's endless stream of prying questions. Ross, Alice and Clemmie have secrets that they don't intend to share, and they are relying on each other to deflect attention. An uninvited guest Lucy Clarke is facing a Christmas alone and the prospect of losing her job. Unless she can win a major piece of business from Ross Miller, the season promises to be anything but festive. She'll just deliver her proposal to his family home and then leave. After all, she wouldn't want to intrude on the Miller family's perfect Christmas. A Christmas to remember When Lucy appears on the Miller family's snow-covered Highland doorstep, she's mistaken for Ross's girlfriend. By the time the confusion is cleared up, they're snowed in--she can't leave, even if she wants to! But does she want to? As secrets spill out like presents from an overstuffed stocking and the chemistry between her and Ross ignites, this is going to be either Lucy's worst Christmas ever or the best mistake of her life.

I enjoyed this a lot! The characters were all wonderful. I love stories where I have characters I can connect with/root for and I got that in spades here. It was a cute, feel good story. Good way to start the new year!

A family gathering at Christmas. The Miller siblings meet at their childhood home in Scotland, but are worried about their parents prying questions surrounding their lives. They all have secrets they don‘t want to share. An uninvited guest turns up at the house who ends up staying so will the festive period be a success.
Full of drama which the reader gets caught up in, there was so much going on at times.A definite solid festive read. #readathon

4✨I‘m almost caught up! This was a cute story once it finally got started. I really loved the grandma getting her nose in everyone‘s business. Plus how each of the siblings had an unconventional progression in life (not career, marriage, babies). The love stories were heart warming and it also had examples of men have feelings too, which I‘m a big fan of. It took me a while to get into it, but when I did I loved it. #Wintergames #GingerbreadGems

I love Sarah Morgan and think she's a great writer, but I wouldn't call this a romance. The (grown) kids are all kinda selfish too - one sister says she's happy for the other because it takes the pressure off her. ? They seem to compete to see who can be "bothered" by their parents less when the parents seem pretty nice and the grandma is hilarious. It felt plot driven more than character driven and sadly, without much plot. ??‍♀️? #bookspin

#Snow has been good for me recently. My favourite would be the tagged book but really enjoyed The Girls in the Snow and Snowflakes and Secrets in the Scottish Highlands. I need to finish Kilimanjaro Snow.

Day 21 #AdventRecommends November Book 1

Snowed in for Christmas was Sarah Morgan‘s recently published Christmas offering for this year. It was a really excellent read and loved spending Christmas with all the characters, as well as finding out more about their lives. As always these are superbly written and leave a real feel good factor.

Gorgeous book with a gorgeous cover. Very much like a Hallmark movie. I think a little too chaotic at times since all the siblings and their SOs had problems. But it should be a movie and gave me all the feels. I laughed and cried a few times each. I related to the mother and to the daughters.

TheAromaofBooks This was one I wish had been more than one book - I would have been happy to read it as a trilogy, with one book for each sibling, as I really enjoyed the story and characters but felt like some stuff got kind of glossed over. 1y
TEArificbooks @TheAromaofBooks I agree, it felt like to much was going on, everyone had so many big problems and it should have been just Lucy in this book, and then Alice could have a book next Christmas and then Clemmie. I would have gladly bought 3 books to revisit the family. 1y

Ever since I discovered Sarah Morgan a few years back, I have looked forward to her new Christmas book every year. She writes family dynamics so well, and I especially appreciate that she always includes a POV of one of the older/married women in the story. A lot of authors would use a family set up like this (three siblings) to write a little series, but Morgan finds a HEA for all three of them in one book. It works, but does feel like some ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) aspects are a little rushed/glossed over. And it means I spent a lot more time with Alice, who drove me crazy, instead of with Lucy, who was my fave. As an aside, I'm not sure if it was the name Lucy, but a lot of this story gave me really strong While You Were Sleeping vibes, and I was totally here for it.

I'm still working my way through Morgan's Christmas backlist as well, so hoping to get to another of her books this month!!

Andrew65 I loved this one and really enjoy her books, which like you was in the last 2 - 3 years. Well done 🎄🎄🎄 1y
JamieArc I read my first Sarah Morgan book last winter and was surprised by how much I loved it (tagged). Look forward to another this winter. 1y
TheAromaofBooks @JamieArc - Yes!! I read that one last year as well. I just really like how her books focus on relationships beyond the romantic - parent/child, sisters, friends. They're still enjoyable and I know I'll get my happy ending, but they are a little more than 100% fluff and I like that, too. 1y
BookmarkTavern What a cute cover! 1y
JamieArc @TheAromaofBooks Yes, I remember thinking that it had more depth than I expected a holiday romance to have. Happy reading to you! 1y

Oh I love Sarah Morgan and her festive reads. This might actually be my favourite one. I love the plot, the setting and the characters. Its all so well written and put together. The plot is steady build to a brilliant ending. I love that everyone figures out what they want and how to get it. My favoruite thing has to be Ross realising what he wants. 5* 6pts for #TeamSlaughter #Scarathlon @Clwojick
