Hypnotist's Love Story
Hypnotist's Love Story | Liane Moriarty
For fans of Emily Giffin, another wonderful book from the author of the #1 "New York Times "bestseller, "The Husband's Secret.".. Ellen O Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she s optimistic. He s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: "He thinks they should have a talk. " Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Patrick s ex-girlfriend is stalking him. Ellen thinks, "Actually, that s kind of interesting." She s dating someone worth stalking. She s intrigued by the woman s motives. In fact, she d even love to meet her. Ellen doesn t know it, but she already has."

Yes! Well done Moriarty!

This was such a refreshing read. While our hypnotist Ellen is falling in love with the widower, Patrick, she quickly learns of his ever-looming stalker.

Loved all of the characters in this book, appreciated the lightheartedness, the insights into hypnotism, the love stories, and even the ending! This does not usually happen for me with romance!

Such a well crafted plot and characters. Highly recommend.

This is my second Moriarity and I‘ve enjoyed them both. This is written first person, and I appreciated being in these particular characters‘ heads. I enjoy staging simple photos with a book and I realize it makes me consider the story in another way, by determining what I should use. Today, the exercise had a superb payoff as I had overlooked a joke the author made and I laughed out loud as I was setting up this shot. #BookNerdBliss

1. I love the clematis I got my mom several mother‘s days ago, but I also love lilies of all types!
2. Tagged! It was a reread. Just so fun. I find Saskia as fascinating as Ellen does.
3. I just binge-watched Girls Incarnated on Netflix. Also anything 90-day Fiancé on TLC.

This may be my favorite Liane Moriarty. I kind of understand how Saskia felt about Patrick. She (properly) horrified me on my first reading.

I‘ve had people hurtfully leave my life - most recently my three best friends from high school when I became depressed - and if I didn‘t have family to lean on, I probably would‘ve lost it, too. (Fortunately, I‘ve made a few other friends now.)

I relate to all the characters more in this one than her others

I found this extremely intriguing... it had some hints of a thriller but still managed to be a “light read” which was an interesting choice for the author. Loved it overall!!

Hmmmmmm, this started out quite good but it kind of lost me a bit at the end. I guess it was just too tidy for my tastes 😊 All in all a good summer/beach read though, which is what I needed as I prepped for my move from Texas to Alaska.

“Knit not stalk” is my new motto. Liane Moriarty rules the contemporary women‘s fiction genre. This was a well written, well paced and occasionally nuanced exploration of love in different forms and expressions. Everyone ends up happy in the end - it‘s part of the contract. 4 stars

I need to read the book if it‘s going to be a TV series. Admittedly I don‘t watch shows live on basic cable anymore; I usually binge later on, but this would be a show I want to check out as I love #LianeMoriarty and really like Heather Graham.

Chick Lit with a side of thrill. I really enjoyed this story following two women, Ellen, who's in a newly serious relationship with Patrick, and Saskia, Patrick's ex from 3 years ago who's been stalking him since he broke up with her. I loved Ellen. She was a genuinely good person with realistic petty feelings that made her someone I'd befriend, and Saskia was oddly funny and relatable while also creepy and sad. Another win for Moriarty!

Ellen is a hypnotherapist who starts dating Patrick. Then she learns his ex-girlfriend, Saskia, never quite got over him and follows him everywhere. The voice moves back and forth between Saskia and Ellen and is quite sad in places but never dark. There‘s good humor as well. It‘s not Moriarty‘s best, but it‘s a fun read. And I love the silver foil on the cover of this edition.

@britt_brooke posted recently about a word that drives her crazy. Here‘s one for me: nightie. For a child, fine, but a 35 year old woman should use a less cutesy name for her nightwear. This nauseates me. 🤢

I had to stay up and finish. I will just be sleepy tomorrow 😊 I really enjoyed both Ellen and Saskia points of view in the story. This is the second book I read where she had something happen to the child as like a wake call for the adults. I hope that‘s not a common theme. I did feel the ending dragged a but I‘d give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars.

This book was hypnotic! Liane Moriarty is excellent (if you haven‘t checked it out yet, read Big Little Lies). I loved the two perspectives the story was written from. It is a romance book, but it is also a psychological thriller. I finished this book in just about 3 days (its cliche, but I could not put it down). Highly recommend - 10/10

Not my favourite of Liane Moriarty‘s books. I expected more and was disappointed that the stalker aspect wasn‘t as suspenseful as I had hoped. I didn‘t connect with the characters and actually disliked Patrick and his constant references to his dead wife. Who takes their new fiancé to meet their first wife‘s parents for goodness sake! All in all I was glad when I finished. This is one that will gather dust and not be reread I think.

RadicalReader @Jhullie if that isn‘t a slap in the face to both the ex‘s parents and the new wife I don‘t know what is!! 1y
