Picking the right laundromat book is hard, it needs to be interesting and still putdownable, I think this one is working. Which is good because as we drive from Texas to Alaska I think this is just the first of many laundromat days :)

TrishB I love this book ❤️ 1mo
Slajaunie Wow! That is a long drive. 1mo

Bailedbailed

I believe this is going to be a bail, I've struggled to get 82 pages in (out of 946 😯) and Bryson has even turned his back :)

DGRachel I agree with Bryson. I tried to read this many moons ago and bailed before 100 pages. 1mo
Maude @DGRachel , it just rambles and even though I know its fiction, it makes me dislike very well liked authors. 1mo

Hmmmmmm, this started out quite good but it kind of lost me a bit at the end. I guess it was just too tidy for my tastes 😊 All in all a good summer/beach read though, which is what I needed as I prepped for my move from Texas to Alaska.

DivineDiana Now, that‘s quite a move! Good luck! 1mo

Y'all don't hate me ☺ I wanted to like this more, the setting and its descriptions were wonderful but the characters, dialogue and storyline were just mediocre. I really found myself skimming too much. Oh and how I detested the poetry bits (even though I like poetry) it felt tacked on and wasn't really needed.

kyraleseberg I agree, it was a lovely story and has a little something for everyone but for me the dialogue and relationships between characters felt cheesy at times. 1mo
BookShark Oh boy, my book club just picked it and I‘m concerned! Very mixed feelings going in... 1mo
Addison_Reads I agree with your review. I only gave it a pick because her description and writing of the marsh was so beautiful, but the rest of the story was just Meh. 1mo

I guess I'll go with a so-so, just because I loved the parts about homesteaders and Alaska. I was loving the first part of the book then about half way the characters and the pace got jerky, it totally put me off the story. I wanted to bail but stuck it out hoping it would turn back around but it just got worse as it hurdled to the end.☹

Twocougs Felt the same way- so much potential but... 2mo
