Another Miss Marple mystery. I liked this one but not as much as the previous two. It was a little more obvious, & I didn‘t love the characters. Still a pick though. #scarathlon #teamslaughter

Worst Agatha Christie book I‘ve read. I didn‘t care about the characters or the solution to the murders. Also, the casual racism is jarring.

I finished this today—works nicely for #readingresolutions #SuspensefulSunday! I really enjoyed Miss Marple in this one—using her “frail old lady” exterior to its best advantage as she got to the bottom of the mystery! I did find the ending a little too sudden/rushed, but overall, it was a solid Miss Marple mystery that kept me guessing.

New work week, new Agatha Christie for #audiocommuting. Because I needed to be in the middle of five books instead of four...

Miss Marple is asked to keep an eye on a friend who is believed to be in some sort of danger at her house, which also serves as a home for delinquent boys. Sure enough, poison and gunfire come into play and murders keep piling up until Miss Marple solves the case.

Tamra Ms. Marble is the definition of cozy mystery. 😊 2y

Latest audiobook. Love listening to mysteries on the car, especially Agatha Christie. What's your favorite book by her? #octobereads #missmarple #queenofmystery #agathachristie #autumnreads #bookchallenge

This was perhaps a little lite on the plot but on the other hand it focused more on the characters and their motives. It also felt very much like theatre, which in context made perfect sense. Our suspects are all gathered in one setting, an old English-Gothic-looking family home, with plenty of secrets stashed throughout, it's up to Miss Marple to solve this mystery. The 'Conjuring Trick' was also brilliantly executed. The title is a clue. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Libby1 Great review. I agree! 2y

Sarah83 @Bambolina_81 @JazzFeathers it's on the list @Bambolina_81 found. It is the fifth episode with Miss Marple. The English title is the tagged one. 😊 I also love the edition. It's one of only a few covers, which differs to the English edition, you found in the internet. 2y

I'm admittedly not a fan of Miss Marple but this book was better than the first few in the series (A Murder is Announced not withstanding). Christie does murder in remote country houses better than most and this book was no exception. A cast of barely likable characters, enough red herrings to keep things entertaining, and a clever ending make this classic Christie. Miss Marple is no Poirot but she might be growing on me a bit. #mystery #Christie

My first Miss Marple down! It took a while to get going, but the audiobook was a nice way to pass the time doing chores and such. And, yes, @TaraNewman and @BillBlume that is technically what she said, but not like that 😂😂 and it's in reference to how the murder was committed, but not literally? Trying to not spoil 😁

Mc_cart_ny Yeah, this title makes me giggle 😉 2y
BillBlume @Merethebookgal given how much this has made me chuckle (in the most juvenile way), I might have to read this now. 2y

Merethebookgal @BillBlume 😂😂😂 Well, this might be one you'd want to try via audiobook? The version I got from my library's Overdrive had a good narrator (Emilia Fox) though she could use some work on her southern American accent, lol. The only thing that was a little hard to follow was keeping character names and their relationship to each other straight, bc one of the characters had been married a bunch of times so there's stepkids & half-siblings, etc. 2y

Loved this one! I didn't get every detail but I think I'm finally picking up on how to be a detective haha! I picked out the killer and ever though I had a few moments of doubt I ended up being totally right! Woot! Miss Marple takes zero shit, children. Be forewarned. #missmarple #mystery

I don't think I've ever read this one before, so the conclusion was a surprise. Very well done, you could argue that a mystery writer is somewhat like a magician, keeping you looking in one direction whilst the truth is really in the opposite corner. Misdirection. Really enjoyed this one. #christiescrimeclub

Straight into another Marple on audio. I'm also busy with An Ember In The Ashes which is rad so far, really amazingly good on so many levels, and I've got A Star-Touched Queen out from the library and I can feel that clock ticking... #cozymystery #missmarple #mystery #fantasy

#novemberland #day14 #nosycharacters Miss Marple is one of the most famous nosy old ladies in crime fiction. She has a way of knowing exactly what is going on everywhere she is,who's doing what & whom & of putting those observations together to catch anyone guilty of the smallest crimes, from who stole the apples off the tree to who exactly put the poison in the marmalade.Mostly written off as a harmless old woman in the beginning but not for long.
