Huntress | Kate Quinn
One of Marie Claire's Best Women's Fiction of the year! One of Bookbub's biggest books of the year"If you enjoyed "The Tattooist of Auschwitz," read "The Huntress," by Kate Quinn." The Washington PostFrom the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling novel, THE ALICE NETWORK, comes another fascinating historical novel about a battle-haunted English journalist and a Russian female bomber pilot who join forces to track the Huntress, a Nazi war criminal gone to ground in America. In the aftermath of war, the hunter becomes the hunted...Bold and fearless, Nina Markova always dreamed of flying. When the Nazis attack the Soviet Union, she risks everything to join the legendary Night Witches, an all-female night bomber regiment wreaking havoc on the invading Germans. When she is stranded behind enemy lines, Nina becomes the prey of a lethal Nazi murderess known as the Huntress, and only Nina's bravery and cunning will keep her alive.Transformed by the horrors he witnessed from Omaha Beach to the Nuremberg Trials, British war correspondent Ian Graham has become a Nazi hunter. Yet one target eludes him: a vicious predator known as the Huntress. To find her, the fierce, disciplined investigator joins forces with the only witness to escape the Huntress alive: the brazen, cocksure Nina. But a shared secret could derail their mission unless Ian and Nina force themselves to confront it.Growing up in post-war Boston, seventeen-year-old Jordan McBride is determined to become a photographer. When her long-widowed father unexpectedly comes homes with a new fiance, Jordan is thrilled. But there is something disconcerting about the soft-spoken German widow. Certain that danger is lurking, Jordan begins to delve into her new stepmother's past--only to discover that there are mysteries buried deep in her family . . . secrets that may threaten all Jordan holds dear.In this immersive, heart-wrenching story, Kate Quinn illuminates the consequences of war on individual lives, and the price we pay to seek justice and truth.

Such a great book! Engaging characters, excellent pacing, and engrossing plot. I loved Nina‘s character. And, as with The Alice Network, it was empowering to read about a world war from a female perspective. 5 ⭐️s! #favouriteauthor

This was definitely a really interesting historical fiction book. I felt like it had a good amount of suspense and mystery to really drive the story and make it more interesting. The time frame and characters were also well captured and it moved quickly despite how long it was!

A post WWII quest to find an escaped Nazi known as The Huntress interspersed with the history of one of the hunters: a former Soviet "Night Witch" pilot. I love reading about the lesser known women's history so the Night Witches were fascinating, and Quinn writes interesting characters but this dragged a little for me. Since the Huntress is only shown after the war, her crimes mentioned in passing, she never builds into a really black villian.

Agh this book needed to be cut down. There's just so much dense information and the two plot lines move along so dang slowly. There was no surprise as to who was The Huntress either. Like none what so ever so I don't know why they delayed the reveal so long.

I liked this more than The Alice Network buy I think I've just come to the conclusion that Quinn's stuff isn't terrible but it's overhyped and not my taste.

I love finding historical fiction novels that introduce me to a piece of actual history that I never knew about. I had never heard of the Night Witches. Nina was my favorite character and I loved the descriptions of her childhood on the taiga in Siberia followed by her exploits in the sky as a pilot and her hunt for The Huntress. Quinn even managed to sneak in a quick cameo from Eve Gardiner from “The Alice Network,” which was neat.

Kaila-ann Nina was my favorite too and can‘t wait to read other stories about female pilots. 4mo

This is the large print edition. It was a good book that was well written and kept me engaged. The author cleverly weaves 3 stories together to build a Nazi hunter story. The characters are believable and although the reader can see where the author is heading it‘s still a good read.

I‘ve avoided WWII books for years, don‘t ask why, but I picked this one for work book club and loved it. The multiple POVs were handled well, I learned about aspects of history I hadn‘t known (like the Soviet Air Force‘s female fighter & bomber pilots), and the book raised important & still relevant questions about war crimes, following orders vs. doing the right thing, and following your dreams versus societal expectations. 4 1/2 🌟

kspenmoll I really enjoyed this book & it‘s information on Russian women pilots- and more! 6mo

Nothing compares to The Alice Network, but this book was entertaining and suspenseful with some of the best developed characters. It brings to the forefront of historical knowledge the battle cry for recognition of the contribution of women during wartime, and that's something I greatly appreciate about the two books by Kate Quinn that I've read so far.

Has anyone read her Empress of Rome series? That is next on my list.

Melissa_J I‘ve read her Rome books. I loved them! I actually prefer the Rome novels to her WWII stuff (although The Huntress comes darn close), and I really hope she goes back to writing about Rome. 6mo
