Great place to finish reading my book #thehuntress #colorado
Road trip reading. Anyone else find it somewhat confusing keeping up with the timelines in The Huntress?
I wrapped up “The Book of Names” last night. Such a beautifully written novel. Now, I‘m on to my next read but a bit conflicted; which would you read first, The Alice Network or The Huntress?
Historical novel about the war, Nazi hunting and war criminals. Not my usual reading choice but I liked this book! Suspense and great characters!
Finished this one back in December. It was my bookclub pick for Q4. I really enjoyed The Alice Network and wanted to read another by Kate Quinn. This one could‘ve been shorter, but overall I enjoyed reading it. The story was compelling and the parts about the Soviet women pilots in the war were quite good. If you like historical fiction, this is a good one.
This is my 2nd book of the #roll100 challenge. I was completely engrossed in this historical fiction tale of the hunt for a female Nazi war criminal. The background on the Russian pilots known as the Night Witches was fascinating and Nina will be one of my favorite characters for a while to come. I also went down a rabbit hole looking up the female photographers of the era mentioned. This is the first Kate Quinn I‘ve read but not the last!
Kate Quinn always manages to write something unique & magnificent. I was hooked from page one and, though I more or less understood where the ending would take me, couldn't put it down. Strong female protagonists are her strength, but all characters in The Huntress are rich & vibrant. The plot is executed fabulously in a multi POV style & focused a lot on post WWII. An intriguing read that I devoured over the course of just a couple of days.
Entertaining, but too Hollywood mainstream for me. Kate Quinn brings together all the ingredients to build a bestseller, leading to unrealistic characters (too good to be true), and to a manichean vision of history... Book recommendations: Hunting the Truth by Serge and Beate Klarsfeld / The Man with the Miraculous Hands by Joseph Kessel / Sulfuric Acid by Amélie Nothomb ;)
Here is a picture of my reading paradise ;)
Fun fact: Most of the books I own I haven't read yet. I rarely keep a book after I read it: either I give it to a specific person that I know might like it, or I donate it.
The books in good condition that I read will go to the Cody library in San Antonio, Texas to enrich their collection ;)
Happy October, friends. 🎃🍁🍂Here‘s my #BookSpinBingo list for the month. The mysterious red book is Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood. I bought it at a library sale a couple years ago (remember when those happened?!) and it didn‘t have the dust jacket. @TheAromaofBooks
My reading buddy. #mbcreadathon #mbcbookfrogsreadathon8
Kate Quinn is fast becoming a favorite author of mine. This was a gripping read about a band of Nazi hunters searching for "the Huntress" in the 1950s. The band consists of a former war reporter, an interpreter, and a former "night witch", one of the Soviet women pilots/navigators who fought on the front lines of the Eastern front.
It was less intense than The Alice Network or Rose Code, but still enthralling with great characters.
When you stay up a littttttle past your bedtime to finish a book you‘ve been working on for a few months 😬☺️. Absolutely worth the read! Post WWII novel written from the perspective of three different characters following their journey to meeting over one individual, The Huntress.
I enjoyed this historical fiction about hunting Nazis after WWII, but not as much as I thought I would. The story of the hunt for the titular character is told in three POVs, which I generally like, but I didn‘t really connect with any of them. Still, the story was well-told, so I‘m going with a “pick.”
Great book! The hunter becomes the hunted in this Nazi war criminal story. There are a few plot lines that eventually come together in a nice way. It was a tiny bit predictable but it was really well integrated. #litsyAtoZ challenge for Q @bookish marginalia
I recently learned about the Night Witches and wanted to read some more about them. However, there are very few nonfiction books about them (thanks Cold War). This book was on every list I found, so I picked it up to see if there were any references listed (and there were!!). I absolutely loved the story! One of the best historical fiction books I've ever read! It had everything! A mystery, murder, Nazis, Nazi hunters, a Night Witch. 5/5
This book was amazing! I like that it takes place shortly after the Second World War, when everyone was busy trying to forget it ever happened and move on, not wanting to look too closely at all the injustices that had happened. It‘s also interesting to talk about the Soviet Union side of things; I feel like that often gets overlooked.
Maybe I should start talking to sleep like this when I struggle to get out of bed every morning😬😂😴
I love Kate Quinn‘s novels!! This is the first I‘ve listened to on audiobook and now I want to go back and listen to all of them. I moved this to the top of the TBR since I preordered her upcoming novel and I‘m so happy I did. She has a way of presenting these strong, dynamic women in history that can‘t be beat. I love her character and world building and have never been disappointed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Nina‘a uniform came in a bulky packet, and she began to swear the minute she unfolded it. “Even men‘s UNDERWEAR?” Unfolding a pair of vast blue briefs.
Can anyone say Sunday reading! Been meaning to start this for at least a month and finally have a bit of downtime. Featuring #finankitten my in-house snuggler and #jinxcat guarding the door😂😍 #theyreactuallymycats #catsoflitsy #hygge #blanketsandcandles #snuggles #thehuntress
I‘m at that point of the month where I don‘t want to read any of the books on my January TBR. I‘ve already read a lot of books this month, so I think it‘s okay 😂
Started this one today. I‘m about 50 pages in. I didn‘t realize it was over 500 pages, but 🤷🏻♀️
I‘m pretty sure I got this in a Litsy swap, but I don‘t remember which one or from who.
The multiple narrators and the moving back and forth in time worked well here to keep the tension up. The characters were all well-drawn and the history incorporated well.
Came home from work and got to open my wonderful #elfswap gift from @Scochrane26 I absolutely love everything ❤️❤️❤️. The sugar scrubs smell so heavenly and the notebook is so cute and perfect for my purse. I especially love the fact they are both locally made. I can not wait to read this book it has been on my Wish list for so long. Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts. I hope you have a wonderful Merry Christmas 🎁🎄🥰
Thank you @Marmie7 for my #Jolabokaflod gift!! Whoohoo! I shall enjoy loads of chocolates and the book is perfect!! @MaleficentBookDragon
And I‘m back to The Huntress as I‘m on a long trip tmw and this one has 10 hours left, just about right!!
Let‘s hope whatever this weather is doesn‘t happen to me in my way to California ...
But srsly: 😳😳😳 #apocalypse #cloudporn #sky

Huge fan of this historical novel! Such a thrill to read and very believable characters. Really felt empathy for nearly every narrator as Quinn took us through their journeys. 10/10, very enjoyable!
Currently reading this for book club! I have so many thoughts and comments!
A truly satisfying novel about night witches and Nazi hunters. Quinn provides excellent historical detail, terrific characters, and romance along with the intrigue. Narrators shift as does time line (WWII and immediately after). If you enjoyed The Alice Network, you should pick this one up. https://cannonballread.com/2020/11/the-huntress-a-novel-elcicco/
In 1950 a group of Nazi hunters: an ex war correspondent, an ex army interpreter, and an ex Nightwitch, are tracking down a war criminal known as die Jägerin (the Huntress).
It was so obvious who the Nazi was at the beginning, I thought there would be a twist whereby she wasn't, so for a lot of the book I was reading it in the wrong genre. As a result Nina's back story during the war was much more interesting than the 1950 sotryline..
Cat butt your tongue?
Listening to The Huntress with cat on lap while Tylenol does its best against a migraine...
SO good, so far, both the writing AND the narrating—yay!

Audiobook shared with my husband. He is not a reader but the book moved at such a good pace, with a solid plot and the characters were so well developed and interesting, that he constantly said “one more chapter”! I also enjoyed the addition at the end of the audio of a book girl club podcast interview with the author. I‘ll definitely be looking up the podcast for more!
Enjoying listening to this one with my husband, and my whiskey on the deck.
This was a great read. If you loved The Alice Network, then you‘ll love this one. Post WW2, nazi hunters, a Soviet Night Witch...all on the chase for The Huntress.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one was a little hard to get into, as each chapter is from a different point of view and during a different year, but once I started to get to know the characters a little bit I really enjoyed it! I liked trying to connect the dots of how they would come together and what was going to happen. This was an enjoyable read and I‘m so happy I finished before baby boy arrived 💙👶🏻
