It‘s difficult to think of today‘s prompt & not pine for how England lost out as Lady Catherine de Bourgh never got a chance to learn music & share her #musical abilities.🥺

“I must have my share in the conversation if you are speaking of music. There are few people in England, I suppose who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.”

LiteraryinLawrence She is such a fantastic character. 3y

Matter exploded into being, apparently as chaos, but in fact as a chord. The ultimate power chord. Everything, all together, streaming out in one huge rush that contained within itself, like reverse fossils, everything that it was going to be. And, zigzagging through the expanding cloud, alive, that first wild live music. This had shape. It had spin. It had rhythm. It had a beat, and you could dance to it. Everything did.” #musical #QuotsyJul21

I‘ll never do any iceberg diving 😱but the descriptions of the #layers of ice & snow in this book help me visualize it.

“Passing by layers of snowy deposits, I was acutely aware that I was dropping down through a time capsule. Every layer represented a slice of history. One layer would be white and frothy, but a few feet deeper, I would pass a band of bluish translucence. A little deeper, the ice was as clear as glass.”
