A quiet, contemporary #ownvoices YA novel set in the American South with a likeable #nonbinary main character dealing with very hard things. The foremost of these is being kicked out of his home, the second is mental health issues. The #audiobook is narrated in the appealing voice of MW Wilson, who doesn‘t overdramatize the angst. LGBTQ

The “Be who you are” Dr Seuss quote I spied while having supper in a café/liquor store/clothing & gifts shop in Field, BC is apt for the tagged audiobook that I was listening to at the time.

When Ben comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they are kicked out of the house. With nowhere else to go, Ben turns to their estranged sister for help. While the writing in this book is that of a debut author (there is definitely room for improvement), the book is a solid addition to the library. A quick read which has an important story to tell.

My fourth book of the readathon. It has also been my favorite. #24in48.

I wanted to love this one but it felt like a lot was cut out. Like, a LOT.

Really disappointed in this. Loved how it was accurate about the trauma of coming out. Not so much that it got what being Asexual and Bisexual completely wrong. Or the fact the character was their trauma and not anything past that.

Scrolling through my kindle app and there are just SO MANY queer YA books this year. I decided just to pick one at random for today‘s reading, and ended up choosing this.

This book is going to be important to so many people who identity as nonbinary. It is going to let them know that they are not alone as well as educate people who don't know a lot about this. This includes me. This book was heartbreaking. My heart broke for Ben and everything they had to deal with. They found a support group who showed them that it is okay to be who they really are!

cherinium This is something I have been trying to become more knowledgeable about. I have a coworker that identifies as non-binary. They have also begun the process of transitioning, including a name change and hormone therapy. Thankfully, they have been very understanding as we all develop the habit of using a new name and neutral pronouns (as long as it's an honest slip and not blatent disrespect for their decision). 3mo

1. Tagged book is my current read.
2. My last completed LGBTQ book was Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian and it was AMAZING. But my current book is also a LGBTQ book. It is also really good and heartbreaking.
3. Going to watch my nephew play baseball and hopefully lots of reading!

Today was teacher in service day at the school I teach at so we could get our classrooms ready for summer camp that starts Monday. We could go in early, which means we could get off early. Means extra reading time and cuddles with my girl!

I loved this book. Listened to the #audiobook via #scribd for the #queerlitreadathon. Ben is non-binary, and when they come out to their parents in their senior year of high school, their parents kick them out. They then have to navigate their path to graduation as well as becoming comfortable in their own skin. Written by a non-binary author. Great writing, compulsive story, and I learned a lot

I Wish You All the Best is an ambitious and personal exploration into a person dealing with many important issues, including gender identity, anxiety, depression, coming out, and nonbinary definition. It‘s a lot to take on in one book and while at times I felt the narrative was stilted, I respect and appreciate the ambition of such an undertaking.

#Scribd #audiobook TBR for the #queerlitreadathon #queerlit

I am not sure that I will be completing a bingo on the board, but am just using this readathon to read more queer lit, since it's not a subgenre I read often.especially since it coincides with the start of pride month!

I will also be posting a digital TBR and physical TBR. *I'm not going to be able to read all of these - just giving myself options between what I own/library loans/scribd

Had a big day today! Even though I graduated in December, I walked in the grad ceremony today! When I got home, I did week 3, workout 1, of Zombies, Run! 5K training and did about 30 minutes of yoga. #BFC

Had a busy couple of days, so here‘s Saturday‘s #BFC checkin! Finished “The Life and Lies of Rukhsana Ali” and started the tagged book. Did some stretchy yoga after spending most of the day packing and getting the house ready to put on the market (with a lovely midday break to see some friends).

Currently reading this ARC via Edelweiss, and adoring it. An #ownvoices novel about a non-binary teen who‘s adjusting to life after coming out and being kicked out of their home. Looking forward to having this important story on the shelves at my library. #yalit #weneeddiversebooks
