The Disasters | M. K. England

Pickpick

This book started off pretty slow for me. I just couldn't get into it right off the bat, even though it starts off with some pretty serious action. I felt like it took too long to really get to know the characters, and also maybe took too long to feel like there was going to be any hope of them resolving the problem they are up against. Once I got to know the characters, I did love them. And I really enjoyed the world created by the author. ⬇️

rjsthumbelina I read this for the #queerlitreadathon, bc the author is non-binary and the main character is bisexual. I thought the bisexuality rep was pretty well done, without really being any kind of focus for the story. The plot was pretty well done, too. The pacing just felt funny for me, which made it ⭐⭐⭐💫 1w

Physical TBR for #queerlitreadathon. Starts June 2. I'm including The Disasters, which I am already reading, bc the main character mentions that he has dated males and females in the past. I might try to save Red, White, and Royal Blue for #romanceathon in the middle of the month. As stated before, I don't intend to get through all books pictured. It just allows me some variety and choice without buying more books!

My digital TBR for #queerlitreadathon - June 2-8. These are books I already owned copies of on my #nook account
As stated in my other post, I don't intend to try to read everything on my TBR. It's just a list for me to choose from with books I already had access to 😊
I think I'm using readathons this month specifically to try to read books I already own

#Scribd #audiobook TBR for the #queerlitreadathon #queerlit

I am not sure that I will be completing a bingo on the board, but am just using this readathon to read more queer lit, since it's not a subgenre I read often.especially since it coincides with the start of pride month!

I will also be posting a digital TBR and physical TBR. *I'm not going to be able to read all of these - just giving myself options between what I own/library loans/scribd

So...I might be doing 5 readathons, 3 Litsy buddy reads, and running the #BandNYAbookclub at my store in the month of June...with a full time job and 2 part time jobs. Pray for me, I guess? Lol. I'm not taking any of the readathons too seriously, so I guess we'll see what happens

Easy to read but deep & meaningful novella about four queer characters living in modern Nuuk. Niviaq Korneliussen presented her debut novel Crimson at the Sydney Writers Festival, and her poetic oratory of part of the novel in her native Greenlandic tongue was wonderful to witness. The photo is Sermitsiaq mountain, which overlooks Nuuk #sydneywritersfestival #greenland #queerlit

So far, the most exciting new-to-me book today is Pulp by Robin Talley, which explores queer pulp novels through history. Can‘t wait to read this.

Starting this book today. I dunno much about it other than it‘s a sapphic, spacey, sci-fi. I LOVED the author‘s debut duology, so I‘ve good vibes for this one.

This #24in48 readathon is amazing and I have finished another book! Whoa! Pulp is a very sweet novel, and the two storylines together worked very well. I am a sucker for these kinds of storylines where history comes to life in meaningful ways and I love that this book exists for queer teens as a reminder that being out in the 50s was a very different process, and terrifying. #amreading #queerlit
